It's meant to be in black and white, but I decided to add a splash of color(s) so it's not so contrasty. I'm considering starting a collection of commissions done in this similar style...I could always use the money :P

I've been a busy little bee this month! I have several new paintings I thought I'd show off.

This is probably one of my favorites that I have done in a long time. I really like working with graphite but this one just came together so beautifully. I worked on her Sunday while I was vending at the Puget Sound Pagan Pride Day and a LOT of people stopped to take my picture. It was a little odd!

This is the second faerie in a series of stone faeries I've been working on. I used watercolor and watercolor pencils on it, and a little iridescent medium.

Part of another series I've been working on! I finished October's Red Moon today, and am waiting for my new A3 scanner to arrive before I post it. I am sick of piecing together my paintings in Photoshop.

And the last one (for now!) is Carnelian, the first in my stone faeries series. I used a lot of watercolor pencils on it but I bought some watercolors I really like finally and have pretty much stopped using the pencils.

Sometimes a little bit of green will loosen the mind and allow it to express itself without so many inhibitions. And it's fun, too.

For about a month and a half or so (from late july to early september), i've been indulging in some weed, since it's basically been about 5 years since i've been able to enjoy any, and i wanted to share the drawings i've made - which have turned out better on the whole than i'd expected!
Now the weed's all gone. I just needed to get it outta my system. All right.
Without further ado...

Here's my attempt at drawing Janis Joplin without reference. I just wanted to make that kinda pose, and fill the page, and make a nice little hippy goddess (also shown below by herself). I know the face is not quite right, but hey, what can ya expect?

And here's that dancing hippy goddess. I really just like how she turned out!

And here's one where my mind kept going back and forth wanting to include Indian and Japanese touches to this dancing girl. The floating mountain in the sky is directly inspired by the game Okami on the PS2 and Wii.

Here i wanted to do a different pose, and i'd just watched Star Trek the Next Generation, and in the episode Deanna Troi was talking about how chocolate ice cream is a sensual experience, hehe, and so here we have it!

Hehe, and i wanted to do a Marge that i could find sexy. See, normally she reminds me too much of my own mother to ever think of her in any sort of way other than an asexual mother. But i'd recently seen a piece with Marge that i actually could find attractive, so i wanted to take a stab with my own style. And yes, i basically lazily coloured it, but it still kinda looks neat.

Thinking of the Chocolate Ice Cream girl above, since her toe is touching her head, and i wanted to do a different angle of the pose, and i also bring the toe a little more into the spotlight, hehe. I'm quite proud of how this turned out. I know it's not completely possible the way i drew it, but i've been surprised at how flexible some fat girls really can be!

Hehe, and this was originally going to be my take on the first hemp field fire the native americans ever experienced - like you wonder how did they discover its effects? Anyway, all went well until i added the native in the plaid shirt, haha. So this could be more like just a celebration of that first night! I really wanted to make something big and trippy-flowy, and i'm quite happy how it turned out. I'm going to shade it a little more and re-scan it some time, so if you're interested, keep watch for it.

This is my idea for a happy Disney-like Love song sequence, hehe. Disney should have the balls to have a fat lesbian couple as the main characters in one of their movies! Or any gay couple!

My friend Aaryn is running a contest on her deviantart gallery ( http://playdough-princess.deviantart.com ) to use one of her photos of herself and either make a drawing of it, or write a poem or story - or take one of her short stories or poems and make a drawing out of them or whatever. So i chose my favorite of the photos and made this, and wrote a story in a children's story style. The summary: This wood sprite stubs her toe and wants to sulk all day. A little blue faery and a tiny monkey come by and try to cheer her up, but she's unimpressed. Finally a little Elephant Faery flies in and greets her, and it's all she can do to keep from smiling and laughing at how silly and cute the elephant faery is with a little top hat, hehe.
I know, another lazy colouring. But screw it.

Ahh, and here's one i'm really proud of. My favorite female singer: PJ Harvey. I think i was more just coming down from a high when i drew this. It's from the back cover of one of my favorite albums of hers, called "Rid of Me" (see the source image below). I'm really happy how it turned out!

See? It's not THAT different. A bit different of course, but not unrecognizable as PJ Harvey (if you know who she is).

Hehe, for this one, i just wanted to do something big and bold. It may come across more as a negative image, but i just wanted to give a feeling of one of those middle-aged, still sexy women, with a half-drunk voice from a 50s movie saying something like, "Ah gaddit all for ya here, sweethaaaht!" I'm proud of the detail and the perspective.

And here's just another dancing girl. I tried a different belly shape here. I want to colour it, but can't decide on colours.

Hehe, and this one's inspired by a lyric from the song "Prince of Parties" by Flight of the Conchords, a hilarious "parody-folk duo" from New Zealand. The song is a parody on those 60s-70s trip-out songs that were obviously written while high on something and make no sense (like pretty much everything Syd Barrett wrote when he was the singer for Pink Floyd).
Anyway, one of the lyrics (as written on the piece) is, "You're a picture of the Devil's daughter, and i'm a pitcher of holy water!" This sorta image came straight to my head the first time i heard it, and knew i had to draw it sometime, hehe.

So, i hope you enjoyed those, even those of you who are against using drugs in any form, i hope these are still a little entertaining.
