Recap/picspam Gossip Girl 2.18 - The age of dissonance

Unlike Sirius Black, I have come back from behind the curtain. The curtain here being having switched from a laptop with Windows to a MacBook with Mac OSX. The problem? My monitor settings are the devil's spawn and won't let me make decent graphics. I'm still fighting, so I apologise for the quality of the images behind the cut.

But I just couldn't do a recap without visual evidence of how bad it was.

Basic guide to vibrant colouring for Gossip Girl

Want to make graphics with colours like these? This is your tutorial!

I've received requests for tutorials for the colouring of my Gossip Girl icons and picspams. I don't give .psd's or just lists with numbers, because I firmly believe in learning to do something yourself. Quick fixes are a no-go with me. So instead (also because my colouring is pretty general) I offer you my basic colouring guide for Photoshop CS.

Suggestion post

This is exactly what it says it is:

Everyone who's a watcher/member of this little community can comment with a suggestion of what they'd like to see from me. This can be general ("I wish you'd make Harry Potter icons"/"Could you do some Doctor Who icons?") or more specific and provide pictures (but never hotlink).

You can make a real request ("I'd like an icon from this picture with this text"), but I can't promise you I'll do it. I'll do it if I think it's a good idea, if I have the time and if I think I can actually do it. (Some things I can do, some things I'm really bad at or are just not my thing, like manga.)

Hence, the name Suggestion Post. :)

This was inspired by two things: 1) I have great difficulty getting out of my 'comfort zone' when it comes to iconing things, meaning I tend to do only things I love myself. So with this, I hope some of you can bring me some inspiration

2) The actual format of this post was completely inspired by

starsburn.

Thanks a lot!

Take a look at this community. See all those Photobucket signs saying something about bandwidth exceeding?

That's what happens when you use one of my images and link to it instead of saving it to you computer and then uploading it to your own site.

Thanks to someone or several someones who are stealing my bandwidth by doing this, I now have to re-upload everything somewhere and start every single graphic I made all over again.

Thanks a lot, whoever it is that's doing this!

So, once again - here's how you use someone's graphics:

Right-click on the image and select the option that lets you save the image on your computer. You then go to your own Photobucket, ImageShack, whatever hosting site it is you want to use (they're completely free, you guys!) and upload the image yourself. Then you use the link from your own hosting site to show the image on your LJ.

Anything other than that is hotlinking - and it's bad.

I'm sorry to bother you with this non-graphic post, but I really want something cleared up.

I just found out that someone made icons out of the images from my recent Gossip Girl picspam without crediting me.

If you want to use the images from my picspam, please ASK. I'm not opposed to people making icons out of them, but I'd like to know you're doing it. I promise you I'll hardly ever say no (only for example, when you're a known maker of sexual manips and you want to use my images for that).

And then, when you post your icons, all I ask that you put this line on the bottom of your post:

Original images were made by marishna (caps) and firstillusion (colouring).

To me, this is just common decency and I'm sure to nearly all of you, it is as well. A lot of time and effort was spent on the original, bland screencaps into the images you see in the picspam. I love it if you like them and want to use them, but please, give me some credit for my work as well. That's all I ask. :)
