bookshelf advice
we own this shelf and we've stuffed the whole thing with books. it doesn't look good. anyone have any suggestions for how to make the best use of this shelf? i was thinking some combination of books and knick knacks would work. i want it to look less cluttered and make the room look inviting. |

I think that I lost the last person that was interested, so I'm going to try posting here again. Hello! I'm not sure if this is allowed, so pardon this post if it isn't, but I have an ikea gift card for $94 and some odd cents that I have absolutely no purpose for. I recently moved out of a large city and now live too far away from an ikea to have good use for the gift card without enduring some ridiculous shipping fees, so I'm looking to sell it. I will accept paypal as the only form of payment, and can send out the gift card the day after. I'm only looking for $80 for it, so you get $15 free at ikea. It's a great deal! Anyone interested, please leave a comment with your e-mail address and I will e-mail you from my personal account, as I am hardly ever on LJ anymore. Thanks! |

Mikael Corner Desk & Life's Little Ironies
Last Friday, I bought a Mikael corner workstation. I've been talking myself out of getting one for quite some time, but a generous tax return and frustration with lack of shelving on my current computer desk finally got me to buy one. Due to lack of time, it hasn't been assembled yet and is still in the boxes. On Sunday, because irony is apparently my middle name, my computer broke. I got the corner workstation knowing it would fit my computer...and now it looks like I will be getting a different computer. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the space where you put the monitor on the Mikael corner desk? It says on the Ikea website it will hold a 19" monitor but I know the space is bigger than that...best I can recall it's something like 23" across? I want to be sure my new computer will fit before I go and assemble it, because otherwise it'll rather defeat the purpose of the desk. At worst, I can just go to Ikea and measure it (and then return the desk while I'm there if it doesn't work), but I figured I would throw the question out here first before wasting gas and time. Thanks, everyone! |

Hi I need new covers for my sofa but it's been discontinued! It seems like it is a problem for many NIKKALA users. I'm located in Australia. If anyone could please tell me where I can get them (other than Bemz) or if anyone is willing to sell me theirs please leave a comment! Any color will do! It's the NIKKALA 3 Seater |

Male/Female paper lamps!?
I just went on the Ikea website and I couldn't find the paper floor lamps that are shaped as a male and a female figure. Did they discontinue them? :( |

Hello!
Hello! This is my first post here. :) I live in Tampa, FL and was just hired as a new coworker for the store that is opening very soon! Some of our sales people will be at the Orlando store today and tomorrow for training. I'm a cashier, so I think I'll be taking a lovely fieldtrip to the Sunrise store. I love Ikea and always have. I was terribly upset when I moved out of Michigan right before the Canton, MI store opened. I lived so close to it! So, now I'm very appreciative of the fact that I'll have an Ikea that's only two miles away from my house. It'll be doubly nice to work there. My first purchase once the store opens will be the Hemnes bedroom set. I would have bought it in Orlando, but I drive a Mazda Miata and the balancing act with boxes is a lot easier on a 2 mile commute than on a 75 mile commute. :) Is there a community on LJ for Ikea coworkers? If not, there should be one! |

Värde drawer unit?
I planned to buy two of these: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90049200 and I checked to see if my store has any. Got the "out of stock, delivery date unknown" message. So I tried more stores, got the same thing. Then I tried about 20 more stores -- same thing. Anyone know if they're discontinuing it or something? I'm really bummed; it's the only thing that will work with what I'm trying to do. |

I LOVE BRATTBY!!!
Has anyone else seen the very adorbale mini big-blue bag? It's called Brattby. I can't get a link from the web site. It's just the cutest thing ever. I already have a million things I can use it for, besides shopping. Foremost, I need a way to keep my fams mittens and scarfs organized on our coat rack. Voila!! Brattby to the rescue. :) |

LEKSVIK table
Fellow IKEA Addicts, I am looking to replace my current IKEA dining table with a larger one. I really like the LEKSVIK but I am considered about stability of the leaves. We sat at a display model for about 10 minutes yesterday picking up the leaves, sitting down and getting up from it. It looked good even though I was concerned about leg space. Anyone have one and would like to share their thoughts on it thus far? Anyone NOT have one and would like to share your thoughts on it? Thank you! |

Naturlig?
Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Naturlig? I was at Ikea last night and it was marked down to $9.99 - I thought it looked like it could be really useful, and I've been looking for a hall mirror, but I was wondering if anyone had it in their home? I would be installing the top part of it into wood (a long cabinet), so I was just hoping somebody would be able to tell me how the installation went for them. Thanks in advance! If you don't have it, what do you think it looks like? Opinions? I was thinking that if I got it, I might paint it, I don't have a lot of natural wood/rattan in my living room. Happy Holidays! |

Christmas shopping at IKEA?
Wow... did I ever find some good presents for my young kids at IKEA tonight: - glove puppets! I go the fish, the chicken, the elephant, the lion, the horse, and the cow. - masks! I got the cat, the dog, the dragon, and the mouse for my 3 kids to share. - A hobby horse! My youngest loves these things, and will now have one here at my apartment. - cute environment lights for their bedroom, for under the homemade loft bed! The seahorse and seashell wall lights are "soon to be discontinued", so in view of my daughter's desire for undersea adventure, I picked them up. - a Rusig rocking toy for another little girl in our building. Current Mood: impressed |

Bed Question
Does anyone have an IKEA bed and NOT an IKEA mattress (/box spring)? I love this new lillesand bed but would want to use our current mattress AND boxspring... Think it would work/fit? [I know I know, I just need to go and measure but thought I could get some info about personal experiences here.] All of their online images show their beds with just a mattress. |

So last week I moved out of my NJ apt (YAY thank god finally etc) and on my way home I heard about HUGE delays on my bridge so I hit Ikea to kill time. Well I bought a couch, in the as is section--leather, lovely, perfect, no blemishes--and I was so floaty and elated about my purchase. It's scheduled delivery date was today since I'm off from work. Well, Ikea LOST my couch!! They sent it to the delivery company, and the delivery company says they never received it. So Ikea no longer has my couch. it's just gone. It literally fell off a truck somewhere--and probably into someone ELSE's living room. I just needed to vent. Clearly I'm getting a full refund on couch and delivery, and while having the money back is just find, it's defiantly not as comfy as the couch would've been. |
