Need a Ride or have space?
I'm still trying to figure out ride issues for Ikasu Con this year. I don't particularly want to drive alone to Ikasu Con (just because partially it's boring and gas is outragous). I have plenty of space in my car, but if anyone else out there has space in the Cleveland area, let me know! I'll be happy to pitch in for gas/parking/tolls. I'm also on staff, so does anyone know when staffers need to be down in Fort Wayne? I haven't recieved any emails yet on what to do and I'm a bit confused since it's my first year staffing. (I'm staffing in the Guest Relations department.)

Current Location: Cleveland

Spring Update: Guests, Registration, Artists Alley, and More!

First, our apologies for the length of time between updating. As the convention draws closer, rest assured that updates will be much more frequent.

We'll start off with a Guest announcement: Ikasucon is pleased to bring you Harlan "Chaze" Watkins and Mariah "Rally" Watkins of Archaic Jump Productions!

From his start mashing buttons to Final Fantasy, to founding his own company and giving people a reason to keep mashing buttons - "Chaze" Watkins is the brains behind Archaic Jump Productions as well as the voice behind several video game characters. (Archaic Dreams, Vindicator, Lunar series) Having spent the past ten years honing his craft, Chaze's company, AJP for short, is taking the gaming industry by storm with some of the most innovative concepts to hit the market today.
Being in the right place at the right time always seems to be a cliche, but if it works, don't complain! Having auditioned for AJP almost by accident, Mariah "Rally" Watkins quickly found a staple position for herself not only as a voice actress, but as the lead concept artist for Archaic Jump Productions. Her work includes but is hardly limited to Archaic Dreams (Rally Vixen), Vindicator (Erin Layne, Artwork), Axiom (Artwork), Archaic Dreams Online (Rally Vixen, Various, Artwork) and
Serial Saga (Artwork).

This is Harlan's and Mariah's first appearance at Ikasucon. Stop by their exciting panels and events!

We have more guests in the works, and will be announcing them as soon as we confirm their attendance.

Exhibit hall tables are still available! Ikasucon's exhibit hall, incorporating both a traditional vendor room and artist alley, has spaces available for both individual artists and vendors. For more information, detailed availability and rates, email vendors@ikasucon.org.

Registration still going strong! Beat the hustle and bustle of registering on-site by pre-registering. You can register instanly online using a major credit card. Details available on the registration page. The final pre-registration deadline is coming up soon, so don't delay!

Are you a member of a college or university anime club? We'd love to hear from you! By helping spread the word about Ikasucon in your community, your club can earn registration discounts. For more information, have your club's leader email our Public Relations division at: relations@ikasucon.org.

Important Note about Hotel Accommodations. If you plan on staying at our official convention hotel, keep in mind that this year the convention is happening at the same time as the popular Three Rivers Festival. Lodging space may be at a premium. You could save a lot of hassle by calling the Hilton Fort Wayne and requesting a room in Ikasucon's room block at a special discounted rate. More details are available on our Location page.

Visit our Forums! Ikasucon's Forums are a great place to meet up with fellow attendees and discuss your cosplay plans, the latest manga to hit the shelves, or anything else. It's also regularly visited by Ikasucon managers and staffers who not only moderate the forums but participate in the fun.

That's all for this round, but expect even more very soon. If you have any questions about the convention, don't hesitate to ask in our Forums or email us at info@ikasucon.org - we'll be glad to help. Enjoy the upcoming holiday, and we hope to see you at the con!

We're continuing to work through the spam issue in the forums. We really appreciate your patience as we attempt to make things right. This community, as well as the FaceBook group and event, will be updated with all the latest news to come down the Ikasucon pipeline. As the forums change, so will the site. Expect to see a new design in the coming weeks.

Stay warm - think of this July when you'll be having fun in Fort Wayne with us!

A quick update
Hey gang, just a quick update this time.

We've started the process of guest invitation. Right now we're working on a good mix of your returning favorites, and some new, exciting guests. Guest announcements will be posted here, on the Facebook group and event, and on the main page as well.

I'm personally also working on adding some additional content to the website, including some advice for first-time congoers, parents, and press.

*switches hats to game show host mode*

Anime Family Feud will be returning to Ikasucon this year! I'll have a new poll on the site soon so that you can be the survey in "Survey SAYS!" Two celebrities will lead their teams in a battle for Fast Money. Since the ¥5,000 Fast Money wasn't wasn't won last year, we'll make the jackpot even bigger - ¥10,000 is the grand prize this time!

Ikasucon will be the con for the premiere of "The ¥100,000 Anime Pyramid." It's based on "The $100,000 Pyramid," one of the most popular game shows in the '80s. Two contestants and two celebrities battle it out in a game of quick thinking and clever communication. The winning team enters the aptly named "Winners' Circle" for a chance at tens of thousands of yen in prizes. But that's not all! Anime Pyramid will (hopefully!) be played at several conventions in the region. Every so often, the three players who win the Winner's Circle bonus round in the shortest time will be invited to a future Ikasucon for a tournament of champions. The winner of the tournament will go back to the bonus round, this time playing for ¥100,000 in prizes! (That's over $875 as of the time of this post!)

I also have one more trick up my sleeve.... and it involves a six-digit grand prize. Stay tuned to this community and the FaceBook Group and FaceBook Event for even more news on that. ;)

Lastly, all of the Ikasucon staff wish you and your families a happy, safe, and prosperous holiday! ^_________^

See you in July!

Heey.
/end dork.
Amazing! Ikasucon has a livejournal. I think it's a wonderful idea, considering that the forums have been down for as long as they have. But, hopefully, when they are brought back up that spam will be taken care of. So, I'm not complaining too much about their down time.

<lj-cut text="LJ CUT. Whoo.">
:x I'm really excited about Ikasu '08, and I keep wanting for the summer to get here as quickly as it can. I know a lot of topics were covered on the forums, and I don't really want to repeat them over here (though I'm not sure if they will still be around when the forum returns, so it might be a good idea?) Hmm. I was also thinking this could be used as a sort of 'introduction' place for those that didn't get to talk on the forums or just for people to re-introduce themselves. I don't know if the moderators want all kinds of posts that are just basically people introducing themselves? =o That's completely up to them. However, I do want to say one thing.

BLEACHTARDS, UNITE. )x Come here and post, or message me/friend me if you plan to cosplay Bleach this year at Ikasucon. My friends and I are trying to get a group together like we did last year for Death Note.</lj-cut>
