Ive posted my whole house, i hope thats okay.
I moved into this flat 4 months ago with my boyfriend, its our first apartment together. I live in Ednburgh, Scotland.

I made these cushions this weekend, the fabric is from Ikea. I love them and I am so proud of them! Very Basic, but I might try to do a tutorial if I make more.

This is the view from the bed! There was this odd big plastic tree in the living room when we moved in, so i moved it into the bedroom and used it to hang bags, coats and scarfs on!

This is my make up table, I bargined with this woman at a carboot sale for my cake stand that i use as a perfume and jewellery stand. It was £2 down from £12

Hey, just found this comm! My family just bought our first house and I get the basement bedroom. It's finished, but the floor is concrete. It's a square room with no windows.

I'm sorry this doesn't have pics of the room, but I need advice! I want to know how to brighten the room up so it won't look like "the basement bedroom". I really want a pink or green, but I'll try anything. I'm also looking for advice on whether I should try putting down carpeting or wood for the floor...?

I'm willing to do anything [on a budget]. I found this post and it was very helpful. I'm interested in the one-wall of color and the rest being white idea...
Please give any and all suggestions. Since we've always rented I've never had a chance to get really creative with a room like this before.

I love seeing everyone's beautiful rooms, and after a bout of very serious cleaning, I'm happy enough to share my room with everybody.
(careful, there are 18 not so tiny images after the cut!)

My guinea pigs, Kenny and Alphie, would like to invite you in.

I spend most of the year in a very cramped apartment in New York City with 3 roomates, but for 3 months every summer, I come home to Texas, where my parents have been kind enough to leave most of my room the way I left it (save for the unsighly addition of a stairmaster)

So, this is what you see when you walk in. I leave the xmas lights up year round, because my overhead light is very harsh.

This desk got me through four years of high school. I kind of have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it.

Against the wall, you can see a few of my father's old school vinyl records.
They were scratched all to hell, so he let me use them as decoration.
One of them is the vinyl for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

So, on the wall is my official black-belt certification in taekwondo, which i got when i was around 14.
The guinea pig cage is setting on two military issue typewriter boxes circa the vietnam war (my father's)
I repainted them, along with my walls, in an epic room decoration during high school.

My bookshelves.
My father gave me the small teddy bear when I was born, and the larger teddy bear when I graduated from high school.
My DVD collection is very sad in comparison to my book collection. :)

It's where i sleep. Barack watches over me. LOL.
The rest of my family is staunchly conservative, and they always glare at him when they come in.

at least once a day, he goes into full on attack mode and bats the shit outta everything that's hanging.

on the wall above my necklaces is my mardi gras mask and a collection of childhood photos.
the one visible is me (making faces) on a balcony overlooking pittsburgh, where my mother grew up.

my ninja duck (a gift from my taekwondo students when i moved away) and my pirate duck (part of a promotional campaign)
are heterosexual life partners.

nerdy joy: multi colored post its, decorated tape dispenser, and a variety of pens and pencils
the glass holding them is one of the many canning jars left in our shelves by the farmers who sold us our farm.
the wife canned fruits she grew in her garden. <3

hi everyone! I'm heather, on the verge of 20, a mississippian, and this is my humble abode :) i adore it - it's my happy, calm, relaxed place.

Hi!
Basically, I got rid of two HUGE wardrobes from my bedroom today. I hated them for ages and they have competely put me off of wardrobes, and free standing rails.
My bed at the moment has no storage space but I want to get one where you can put stuff underneath it.

This is what my clothes are currently on.

That is my bedroom at the moment, it's bigger than the pictures make it look but not big enough in my opinion.
So my question is, is there an alternative to a clothes rail (free standing or otherwise), or wardrobe? I've thought about those box things that have wheels on that you can put under your bed but I have dresses and I'm not sure about them.

Please excuse the unoriginal title. I've been peeking at other people's rooms for quite some time now, and since I finally got my own finished today, I thought it was about time I posted.

So, my room is fairly small. And pretty simple. I don't like it to look too cluttered. This is the view from the door -- it's not a very attractive angle, so please don't be put off.

Here's my bookshelf/desk area. I can't stress to you how much this blind means to me. I've wanted a venetian blind put in my room for such a long time. The view from my window is pretty hideous. And now I can completely cover it up. Yay.

My grandfather runs his own business. He's a cameraman and he films and edits wedding tapes. He's WAY into technology so he buys a new TV every time he sees a new one that takes his fancy. As a result, I'm given the old one he doesn't want anymore. This TV is far too big for my room, but I pretty much love it.

The carpet underneath was here when I moved in, and it's repulsive. I'm too poor to replace it, so I opted for covering it with the biggest rug I could find.

While I no longer live here having moved to New Zealand in the past year, these are photos of my very favourite room in London where I lived for 2 years while I travelled and generally had a lot of fun.

Mostly furnished from Ikea and with little personal touches from my travels here & there; I probably felt more at home, secure and comforted by living here than anywhere else I've lived. I loved my stolen posters from Germany, my postcards from Europe, the nook that my bed fit perfectly into and my little window sil where Nigel my 'plant friend' sat. When I left I packed everything into boxes and shipped it home to Australia where it now sits in storage waiting for me to go home and pick it up.

I miss this little space very, very sorely...

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone happens to have this desk and its directions. My mom bought it about two years ago at Staples and my little sister lost the directions. The people at Staples tried their hardest but weren't really any help. I went to the company's website but it's kind of shady and only two pages AND for "office chairs"... I e-mailed them but haven't gotten a response yet.

You are my last hope!

Basically, if you have the directions I would looove for you to mail it to me or scan it and e-mail it, depending on its length. I know it sounds like a big chore but I'll send a dollar or two after I recieve the directions if you mail (to cover expenses and such).
Also, if you have any ideas about how to get the directions another way, please let me know!

I have one question?
Are there any communities just for baby rooms.
Or if you have a room that you share with a baby.
I'm asking because I'm pregnant, and I wanted to see other baby rooms.
Also, I wanted to see mothers ideas.

Either way, I'm still going to post a few pictures of what my room looks like now.
I've posted here before, and over the years my room has changed multiple times.
The biggest change has been the new baby crib, oh and color of my wall, and new furniture.

01. My door! (& the sign my sister made.)
02. The back of my door. I've got a hanger for my calico bags (I have about 10).
03. The calendar my sister made for me.
04. My bookcase, & my wall adjacent to the door. I have pictures hanging on a string with wooden clothespegs.
05. My signed Lisa Mitchell poster, & more pictures hanging on the wall.
06. The top of my bookcase. I have a painting, some books (MK&A, Audrey Hepburn, pop-up version of The Wizard of Oz, behind the scenes of Casino Royale, & the making of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and my glory box.

01. My bookcase! The top shelf is DVDs. I have a lot. (That's 2 deep, also) I also have a string of fairy-lgihts hanging on there. (They're coloured & dragonflies.)
02. The second & third shelves are books. I've colour-coordinated the books (because I'm a bit OCD). I also have the Runaways series of comics, a clock that was my Pop's, photos of my Mum & Aunty when they were wee.
03. More books. & some disposable cameras?
04. This corner of my room has this weird wire/iron thing, that I hang my scarves on.
05. My dresser. Lots of crap on top of it, but I like it.
06. Origami cranes hanging from my fairy lights which are on my ceiling.

01. The top of my dresser. I have a photo of my Mum, Pop & Aunty when they were wee, a H, lots of nailpolishes, my DS, and a bunch of other things.

i've been wanting to do this for a while now, but haven't had the time. my last post is here, when i was still living in the apartments at school. since then, i've moved out (living off-campus is definitely a lot better), got my internship as a seasonal interpretive ranger for the state of tennessee (which i'm still thrilled about !!), and have adequately finished my junior year of college and am happy to say i'll be a senior next year, graduating with a degree in english and a minor in biology. =)

but since i'm sure you didn't want to know all that, here's pictures of my room - which i'm missing terribly right now.

the letters my sorority big sister made for me when i got inducted. =)

the entrance to my room. the jersey is from a friend of mine who i admire very much. she played soccer for michigan and really inspired me. =)

& what it looks like when you are looking through the door.

my favorite part, of course - my bed, my peace flag, and a bunch of other stuff that i've collected over the years.

the painting is something my older cousin did for my dad when he was in high school. my dad was a bit of a musician. he died when i was 5, so this is very special to me and i'm glad i have it in my room.

another thing that's important - my louisville poster. this was a favorite of my dad's. and what can i say, besides the orange blood that obviously runs through my veins, there's also a few red speckles ;). also, my earth day poster is in the background. love it.

what my roomie calls the "blue wall" - my jersey & tshirts from playing soccer over the years. gothia cup tshirt from gothenburg, sweden when i was 12; a memphis mercury tshirt that has all the names signed on the back; random jersey.

the "red wall" - liverpool jersey & national championship shirt from cbu. and also, half of my old license plate... university of tennessee women's basketball! ♥

my liquor shelf. it's grown substantially since these pictures, but i only put a bottle there if i've managed to consume it in one night. (which was really fun with that bottle of smirnoff.)

despite the fact that the picture is crooked, i took this to show my love for my windows.

memory wall.

& my favorite part of the memory wall - a polaroid of one of the falls that produced a rainbow at fall creek falls state park in pikeville, tennessee... after inservice for my job. :) (my coworker and i agreed that it was a sign, and so far it has been!)

my desk. cluttered, of course, but i still like it.

the bookshelf that i painted.

i painted this with what i could find - the end of a straw, a fork, and my fingers. there's a tree on the other side of the quote. the quote is from ani, and it's one of my favorites - "how can one talk on the role of politics in art when art is activism? and anyway, both are just a lifelong light shining through a swinging prism..."

my nightstand & lamp. both are bird-themed, and i found them at garden ridge for $10-ish dollars each, which was a great deal.

my entertainment center. i've moved all those cords so they weren't in the middle of the room.

& what makes my room the best room ever - the best friends in the world.

I have come to the realization that my bedroom is lame. My walls are a light, almost white, yellow and all my furniture is black/white/silver. I'm a very colorful person and need help with ideas to give it some of my personality. I'm not scared of color in the slightest; to be honest, my favorite color is rainbow. ;D

So basically, painting my room is out of the question. I have the ability but not the time nor energy. I'm hoping to get the pop of color through a sophisticated style. The biggest pop of color would obviously be the bed, but I'm also looking for ideas for wall art/pictures and cheap window coverings. Here are some pictures to show you the lameness.

Hello, My name is Nichole. I've been lurking this community for at least a year now and figured I'd come out of hiding.

I live in an A-frame in Texas. We re-did my room a while back and replaced the floors and painted the walls. Of course with me, plain walls drive me insane so I got a little crazy with them. I am still in the process of redecorating it and would love any extra tips. I feel like it's missing something. Its a bit disorganized at the moment as I am currently using an old art easel as a table.

Well enough babbling and on to the pictures. I will apologize greatly in advance for the terrible photo quality of my camera. I don't have good lighting in my room and its been really dark and rainy outside today. I'm sure you can still get a pretty good idea of what it looks like though.

I have the only bedroom upstairs. :)

Alright I need help. I'm getting a new bed so I decided on getting some new bedding. I fell in love with these from Kohls:

Hello everyone! I'm Anngel, I'm 22 and from New York. I just moved into my new house in February, where I'm currently living with my parents. We lived in our old house for 18 years and I had a very small room. Now I have a room larger than my parents'. Its quite a shock. We just painted it pink and I'd love to show it off so

top of the bookcase. the frame to my full length mirror actually broke off so instead of fixing it i removed it and placed it on top of here giving it a glass like top. it fit perfectly. i <3 it.

made this for about 5 dollars with fake flowers from michaels and a glass from wal mart. those mini plates are my mothers that she picked up in Paris.

Wall Decals Save the DESK----(day)

Well I've had a longsuffering relationship with the redecoration of my bedroom desk. Now, don't get me wrong. I love this desk. This desk and I? We're buddies.

That's why I decided that I was going to repaint it. Forget that I had no expierence with primer! Forget that the last time I got near a paintbrush was sometime in the seventh grade! And remember that I had GOOD INTENTIONS.

Well to keep things safe I chose the same white it once was in a previous life before I so lovingly wore it down.

I painted. I slaved. I wore a mask to prevent me from getting the black lung.

And...Ta-da!

Bleh.
Yes. It might look fine. But the texture of it was crapola. Just a bit bumpy and then when I put my laptop down on it for the first time it immediately scratched the surface of the desk.

So I sighed. I lamented my stupidity.

And then I remembered I had THESE!!! http://www.wall-pops.com/
They're ickle wall stickers that would not stick to my textured walls. And I thought..oh...OH!!!!!!!!

And then...then I did this:

And now? I'm going to cover the top of my desk with one giant sheet of pink wall decal. How talented am I!? (not very, hense the botch paint job.)

You too can fail and then cover it up with store-bought product!

Help! Organization issues!

Can anyone give me some tips on how to organize penpal stuff? I need to figure out how to save letters, stationary, stickers, pens, and basically all the materials! i can't seem to come up with anything other than all my notepads and a few pens stuffed into a shoe box! At the moment, I have all my letters put in the bottom drawer of a plastic set of drawers.

And also, I need some bedroom re-organizing help! I'll be getting a few new fish tanks, some small betta tanks as well as 2-3 tanks the size of the goldfish tank.

Hey everyone! I'm a 20 year-old moving image arts/journalism student, and I just got home for summer break a few weeks ago. I love these communities so I figured I'd post my dorm room. I had posted it at the beginning of the year, but since then my roommate moved out and I had a single for the rest of the year. I LOVED having the space to myself.

it's really funny because the tostitos on the top shelf, as well as the paper towels on top of the fridge were props for a movie i shot.
