About

D'you know like we were saying? About the Earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid, the first time they tell you that the world's turning and you just can't quite believe it because everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it -- the turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour, the entire planet is hurtling around the Sun at sixty-seven thousand miles an hour, and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go...

That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home..

The Doctor is an alien. He's mostly human-looking-and-feeling. But he's an alien. He has two hearts, and might be telepathic to one extent or another, and there's that whole regeneration thing, and while we experience shapes and colors and sounds and touches, he sees everything -- with more extra senses than we can easily imagine. The subtlest differences can have the deepest implications.

So why is it that so much Time Lord fic is no different from human behavior? Fandom gets used to the fact that he looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, and starts treating him like, well, a human. But that's the lazy way. It can be good sometimes -- and fun -- and everyone likes a little human behavior now and again, including the Doctor. But that's only a tiny window into a complex character, and there's so much more to explore!

This community is for that exploration, in stories and drabbles and musings, and if anyone's feeling artistically talented I'm sure we'd be fine with a few anatomy posters, right?

Smut is emphasized but gen is good.
The new series is emphasized but the classic Doctors are also perfectly acceptable subjects.

This community is for taking a step back from the human bias...

...and letting go.
