Tutorial-Stock Icon
I've been a member of this community for a long time, but have never posted a tutorial. I don't actually use this account except for resources & such. You can find me at scribbld.net as
keepmeonmytoes. Anyway, I decided I've used so many helpful tutorials from here, that I'd give back and post one of my own ^.^ I hope y'all like it. We'll be making this icon today:
Oh, I use PSCS3, & my tutorial involves selective coloring. May be translatable, if you can just go by the visuals.
Some rules:
o1. I like credit for my efforts.
If you use the premade image, please
credit
keepmeonmytoes@scribbld.net
If you make anything using my tutorial, just
give me credit for the inspiration if you post
in a community ^.^
o2. If you use any images, save to your own server.
o3. Comments & feedback are lovely ♥
Don't follow exactly, as each image will need some slight tweaking.
Play around a little, this is just a guideline ^.^
My base image, after cropping:
Step 1: Selective Color Layer
Ok, so here we add our first selective color layer, using the following settings:
Reds:
+24
+52
+8
0
Greens:
+60
-8
+45
0
Cyans:
+38
+1
-11
0
Magentas:
0
+13
0
0
Neutrals:
+48
+11
+26
+4
Step 2: Selective Color Layer
This is easier. Simply duplicate the selective color layer we just made.
It won't do a whole lot, it just makes it a little brighter, greener,
and a little darker.
Step 3: Duplicate Base Image
For this step, I duplicated my base image & dragged it to the top of the two
selective color layers. Then, set this layer to Overlay. I left mine at 100%,
but again, different images will require different settings. Don't be afraid
to tweak it a little. This step made the image even brighter & with a higher
contrast.
Step 4: Texture
Ok in this step, we're going to make a new layer, & then paste this texture into it:
texture:
profoundly_grey
Then set this layer to Hard Light at 73%. Again, you may have to tweak the opacity.
Step 5: Text
This step is optional, but I liked the look of the text following the shape of
the texture in the bottom corner. I used a handwriting font, a pea font called
Breathe Easy. The setting I used was White color, 10 pt & Crisp, but these
settings will of course depend on the font you use.
And that's the finished icon! Hopefully y'all liked this tutorial! Feedback is
welcome and greatly appreciated. ♥ Oh, and if anyone used this tutorial,
I'd love to see what you made with it ^.^
