I know this doesn't have much to do with icons, but how do you make Color Bars? Is it possible to make them with Photoshop 7.0? I need a tutorial on how to make them.

Hi...I'm new, and also new to Photoshop (I have Photoshop 6.0). I've already made a few icons, and I wanted to make some with brushes/borders from [info]teh_indy but when I install/unzip them and try to use them in Photoshop, it says my Photoshop is not compatible with the brushes...

I know why, it's because they were meant for 7.0, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was I way I can make them work? Or if anyone knew of a place/person that lets you download this kind of stuff for 6.0?

I have a quick question and I am really hoping that someone out there will be able to help me out.
First of all I am still learning and trying navigate my way through GIMP, and with the help of some tutorials posted, I have learned a good amount. So thanks to those who posted those tutorials.

My question is this through my navigations I found that you can pick Acquire from there you can pick Screen shot, and you grab what ever is on your desk top at present time and save it. I thought that maybe that doing this while I had a DVD playing, not only would it capture the whole window in which the DVD was playing, but also the picture from the dvd. I am apparently wrong. How ever I was wondering if there was any other way in which to do this with GIMP?

I want to pause the dvd and capture the image through GIMP. Is this at all possible?

Hope someone out there can help. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I've got the general idea of how to make the text brushes, I just need a little tweaking of the procedure. I use PS7. Here's what I do: I open a new image 200x100 and type the text in a large thick font, define the brush etc. I want to make the text readable. To test the new brush, I then open a smaller image 100x100 and minimize the brush I just made to fit the 100x100 image. My problem is that the brush comes out rather faint and blurry. It probably has something to do with the resizing. I've seen brushes that are big and bold in the 100x100 size, while mine are faint and tiny. Any suggestions as to what I can do differently? Thanks kindly!

Where do you get really good images for icons? Google just isn't working for me anymore, so I was hoping someone here could give me some advice on where to get some better images.

Ok well this just happened recently. Every time I go to put text on my Icons the text seems a little fuzzy around the edges. In the beginning it wasn't so bad I shrugged it off, but now that I see it is bugging me. I don't know what I did or how to undo it. Any help would be appreciated! [[And If I have missed this in the memories, I am so sorry!]] Thanks a million in advance!! <3 Jane

Assumes that you know how to use layers in PSP7. :)

We're going to make this icon:

I ask that you don't try and make an exact duplicate, but I would like to see whatever you do come up with. :)

Second question in as many days. Tsk.

Anyway, I was wondering: how do you use downloaded gradients (for PSP 9)? I got a lovely set from [info]crumblingwalls, and I put the unzipped folder into the PSP gradient folder, but the gradients aren't showing up when I use PSP. Ideas?

The picture above is the icon in JPG file. But after I uploaded the icon into LJ, it comes out wider (it's my current user picture). If you compare these 2 pictures, their faces are a bit wider in my user picture. Why is that happening and how do I fix it?

I hope you all can see what I'm seeing. Any replies or direction to the appropriate tutorial is appreciated. I'm a beginner so I'd appreciate your patience as well. Thanks!

Some info.:

-I use Photoshop CS.
-I got the 100x100 size by using Rectangular Marquee's Fixed Aspect Ratio set to height and width 100 and then cropping the original picture.

Hi There!
Long time member, first time poster.
I'm having some problems with an icon I made:
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
See how, underneath the scrolling text, more text is visible? I have no idea how it got there and more importantly; how to get rid of it! It's nowhere to be seen when I preview it, just after uploading...
Suggestions, anyone??
I use PS7 and IR.

Thanks!

Is there a way to cut out a picture from a picture? I read a tutorial somewhere but it was for Photoshop so I tried to apply it to Paint Shop Pro 8 but I don't seem to have that cutting tool that they mention. Usually what I do is erase the background with the Background Eraser but it's more work and sometimes it doesn't come out as pretty as the ones who cut out the picture with Photoshop. So my question is does Paint Shop Pro 8 have a cutting tool? I see the scissors but that doesn't really do much for me.
