ABOUT
icon_swapmeet is an icon challenge community, where you're paired with another icon maker, you swap bases and then make icons from them.

RULES
- Our number one goal here is to have fun.
- This is a stillness only community.
- All icons must abide by Livejournals rules; the max is 100x100/40KB. If you want to have icons under that, so be it.
- At the end of the month, the mods will go through the comments and collect all the icons, then make up a master post for that month.
- When signing-up and submitting your final products, please do so like this.
- Once icons are submitted, you may post them to your private journals/communities.
- The theme for each month will change, as will the number of icons you can submit. An example would be; Month #1: theme - tv, 2 fandoms & icons 10. The number of icons can change anywhere from 5 - 20.
- Every once in a while we'll do a special challenge which will be 25+ icons and you'll have a whole month to do it, not just a week.

TIME LINE & DETAILED BREAKDOWN
Week #1 - Sign ups / Pair ups
Week #2 - Base swaps
Week #3 - Make the icons
Week #4 - Post the icons

Week #1 - On (or as close to) the first of the month, a sign up sheet will be posted where you will sign up with your fandoms. Then the mods will pair you up with someone who has similar fandoms.
Week #2 - This is when you'll hunt down caps, make up bases and swap them with your partner. If you want, after you've been paired you can go ahead and make the bases a head of time. If you prefer that your contact information not be given out, you can send the bases to the mods and we'll pass them along to your partner.
Week #3 - I know a week to make ten icons doesn't seem like long enough, but it's only about two/three icons a day. Plus, you can start whenever you get your bases, so you have that extra time + the whole week. If real life ends up getting in the way, drop out or pinch incon.
Week #4 - At the beginning of the fourth week, a new post will be made and you'll comment there with your fandoms and finished icons. You'll have until the end of that week to comment with your icons.

At some point during the month we'll post banners.

EXTENSIONS, DROPPING OUT & PINCH ICONING
Extensions - At this time we are not offering extensions. Remember, you have the time from when you get the bases and a whole "official" week to make icons. So if you get your bases a day or so after you're paired, then you'll have the rest of that week + the icon week. If for whatever reason your partner doesn't send you the bases in the week that she/he has, then we'll consider offering an extension. But really, it's not that hard to re-size a cap and make it into a 100x100 square.

Dropping out - If you've been paired and you want to drop out, that's fine with us.

Pinch iconing - Which leads us here to pinch iconing. When the sign up sheet goes up at the first of the month, we'll also ask for people who would be willing to step up, if for whatever reason someone can't do icons after they've been sent bases and do it in their place. We'll also offer this option if we end up with an odd number of sign-ups.
