| FUNCTION |
[x] This is

shirleebee's icon community. This is where I compile & post my collection of LiveJournal icons & graphics for usage by the general public.

| WHO & WHAT |
[x] Stuff I'm interested in, haha. I won't lie...I'm pretty self-indulgent. I make icons to suit my own needs & reflect my current interests. This means the subjects of the graphics I post will be based on nothing but my own whims. This also means that sometimes the "subjects" of said work will be all but inconsequential & the focus will be entirely aesthetic or conceptual. I change iconic styles frequently: everything from courting "trends" [albeit briefly] to creating fairly accessible "traditional" styles to presenting something completely esoteric & unorthodox--these all are methods I employ & quotients that will be on display here. Despite my idiosyncracies & self-absorption, hopefully other people can also enjoy the work. See the interests below to get an idea of you can expect.

| TOOLS & PROCESS |
[x] My specialty is image manipulation & enhancement. I use a variety of art programs: Paint Shop Pro 9, Photoshop CS, Animation Shop 3, Photomax Pro, etc. I also sometimes incorporate mixed media into my work: this includes interpolations of actual paintings, drawings, and collages I've created [by hand]. Personal photography occasionally plays a role in the creation of a particular work, as do scans of fabric scraps & various memorabilia I've collected over the years. In short: anything & everything goes.

| RESOURCES |
[x] 90% are my own. This includes personal scans, brushes & patterns made from both stock & my own photography, computer-generated textures, and hand-drawn accents. In some cases, I do use other people's brushes and patterns: various users @

100x100_brushes, Hybrid-Genesis.com, Green Eye Brushes, & Braggacodio have all contributed to my creative process at various points.

[x] Not in most cases. This is just a part-time hobby. I don't have a schedule that can accomodate hours of time to dedicate to creating customized imagery for LiveJournal users. There are some exceptions: paid requests. More info on this coming soon.
