i'm going to have to agree with you.
for instance, the "nightlife" section on that page is comprised entirely of this:

==Local Bands==
*Local Orbit
*The Grand Prize Game
* GRYPHON

===Solo Guitarists===
*Jonathan Laird

==Music Venues==
[Flying Monkey] (website). This is a BYOB establishment, all ages.
===Bars===
Crossroads Music. The location of this venue has recently changed, it is now in central downtown Huntsville.
House of Brews
The Bar portion of House of Brews is located upstairs, downstairs is the coffee shop bistro portion.
*The Station. Bar and Grill off Madison Blvd.

*Olivia's (formerly Bobby G's) next to the Off Campus Bookstore off 72 near UAH.

Olivia's is the only bar in town that has a table top shuffleboard game. Takes up half the room, and fun.

===Night Clubs===

WOW!!
there's a place in town with a table top shuffleboard game?!?! why the hell hasn't anyone posted about this before?

yes... from looking at this "fun" most definately is different for everyone. thanks for posting that link, now i'll know where to go in 45 years when i'm ready for my tabletop shuffleboard fix.

i suppose you're right.
in some african countries and desolate parts of china the only pasttime is digging through mounds of refuse in order to find enough scrap metal to sell to recyclers to get enough money to feed one's family.

so i guess yeah... we're gold around here...

They've got a calendar of events, things to do, local restaurants, and all that stuff. Plus I write for them so it's gotta be good. ;)

Some cool places:

Flying Monkey Arts Center
Bandito Burrito
Olde Towne Coffee Shop
Walking Trails on Monte Sano Mountain

That's all off the top of my head.

ok now that we have gotten through over 20 comments filled with (mostly hilarious) snark and bitterness.. what are your interests??

I see you like karaoke so you might enjoy Olivia's.. if you like bands that do covers of 70's classic rock then there are a myriad of bars here that will interest you... also blues.. lots of places to hear the blues.. yes.. a WHOLE lot

if punk, alternative, indie, hipster thing etc. are your interest.. then occaisionally the Flying Monkey, Voodoo Lounge, and the Nook will have shows.. also there is an artist market there every Saturday.. and usually ever month or so a local absurdist theater troupe called Crash Boom Bang puts on theater events

fantastic walking trails on monte sano and the landtrust..

if you like hanging around fratboy hippies go to the Thirsty Turtle.. if you like the kind of music fratboy hippies like (AKA jam bands) go to Crossroads

milling around coffee shops, playing scrabble, looking for a decent wireless connection (and often not finding it) and sucking down espresso?? Try Stearns, Angel's Island Blend, and Olde Towne Coffee Shop..

Huntsville is a place for families, mostly, but it is possible to survive and be entertained if you are young and single if you find like minds. Huntsville is a "hobby" and "underground" and "volunteer" town, if you are wanting to avoid meet markets or places that charge $ for an activity.

Right now? I'm involved in roller derby. Specifically, the Dixie Derby Girls. I could be doing some sort activity with them, or people associated with the organization around 3 times a week right now, and I don't even skate, or own a pair of skates! We need girls and guys! And we are having our first game of the season in March, I think, but there are other community activities going on between now and then.

Check the main library downtown (I used to work there). You will find all sorts of organizations using their meeting rooms and brochures for organizations, but there is plenty of stuff going on around town that if you have the slightest interest in it, you can find a local community either talking about it online or meeting in person.

The people here don't bite, I promise. ;-)

we are located on the second floor of lowe mill - 2211 seminole drive. and our hours are wednesday - friday 5:30 - 8:30 & saturday 12-4

i guess the main question is, what do you like to do for fun?
