Hi, fellow Hunter x Hunter fans.  Been a fan of Togashi's for years (starting with YYH) and have been writing HxH fics for a few years as well.  I just very recently (as in today) joined up here in a desperate attempt to become re-inspired, as the never-ending Chimera arc has been killing my interest in HxH...

So, not wanting to show up empty-handed, I offer my in-progress monster of a fic which I managed to update earlier this month after a year of stagnating (like I said, the Chimera arc is killing my fic!).  It's at chapter 14 over on ff.net, at the moment, so I'll post a chapter here every now and then until I'm caught up... then we can all sit around and wonder when I'll get my ass in gear and write the elusive next chapter.  Hopefully, it won't take me another year to write chapter 15.

Anyway, here be the first chapter, if I can do this correctly (I'm woefully bad at this, and my attempts are few and far between, so I can't seem to get it down...).  And someone please tell me why I can't get the cut text out of bold...

And also, I've only watched the anime - so is there a lot that I've missed in the manga and should I just start from the beginning?

notes: you guys asked for it. you have no one to blame but yourselves. some titles derived from various novels, because i am a filthy, filthy plagiarist. this fic borrows on the assumption of a previous crossover that i have not written; ergo, everybody is already acquainted. but fear not, for all shall be explained. ♥ previous chapters are here. thanks to saaski_moql for the beta.
chapter summary: in which penis-sizes are compared, why did you read my diary, and we aren't in kansas anymore.
chapter notes: russian sounds exotic and wacky, so it is used here as the "foreign language." i do not speak russian at all; phrases were copy/pasted from ze internet.

( Chapter Two: A Pocket Full of Posies )

It's still a little slow, but things begin to pick up in chapter three. Actually, you can pretty much see when I decided to change course: it goes exposition exposition exposition OK LET'S WAVE OUR SWORDS AROUND.

I intend to give Hiei and Kurapika equal screentime (they're together for the lion's share of this fic) but you will notice Pika gets a hefty amount of POV, especially in the beginning. This is because Kurapika is more academically irritating verbose eloquent, and you will get a better feel of things when he remarks on them, as opposed to Hiei's "it was a room."
