A couple of months ago, I visited an art gallery in Munich(!) where I saw the enclosed painting.

Note the Roman soldier on the far right. Has my obsession reached delusional proportions, or does this strike a chord with anyone else? I wonder if Jane has seen this picture..

For those interested, Gray Matter is an adventure game currently designed by Jane Jensen. I am a part of the team behind a fansite for this game, which will follow the news from preproduction to completion. The site designer is longtime GK fan Nico Sels. There is a growing community on the guestroom board, which I'm adminning, and you're invited to join in the fun. ^_^

Gray Matter tells the story of neurobiologist Dr. David Styles. Since the death of his wife in a horrible accident several years earlier, Styles has adopted a reclusive lifestyle, spending his days inside his English country estate, Dread Hill House.

Things take a turn for the interesting when American Samantha Everett, student and part-time street performer, arrives unexpectedly at the estate. Having spend time travelling Europe, performing magic tricks to make ends meet, Everett decides a change of pace is in order, becoming Styles' assistant. As the game's official press release ponders though, "Is the meeting of Sam and Styles really as coincidental as it seems?"

Everett starts her role as Styles' lackey by hunting out six test subjects at Oxford University for the doctor's latest experiment. Well.. after replaying GKII, I became interested in the idea of making a fanvideo. (krss, this is entirely your fault.) The result is very amateurish, I'm afraid - please don't expect much! - but if anyone's interested, I've uploaded it for viewing.

I'm falling in love with GK3 all over again. But I'm playing it this time with the music off, in hopes of NOT scaring the buhjeezus out of myself. And yes, I am completely unsuccessful in that venture. So, Mallory adn MacDougall have just been ripped open and b/c I've ALREADY played the game, I'm afraid to go back to the murder site because I know that I will have to watch Gabe's visions. They're nerverackign, but magical and I'd hate to ever skip a cut scene in these games. I'll wait until the sun comes up before I go any further.

Did I mention that for this go round I decided to print out Sierra's hint guide? All 38 pages? in color? and take notes? perfect score here I come!!

I believe this game is also what has truly led me to learn French. Well, and to become Gnostic. so sad, so sad, I'm such a dork- but empassioned at least!

Hi all =) I'm a fan of GK from quite a ways back, some of you might know me.

Anyway, I recently came across this free game development program thingy that allows you to make point-and-click adventure games like Gabriel Knight. It's at http://www.agsforums.com/ac.shtml if anyone wants to have a look. I was thinking of making a GK fan-game with it, or maybe a GK-inspired original game? It looks pretty easy to use.

Just fishing for opinions about this, since I'm feeling the need for a nice old-fashioned GK1-style game.

ok then, starting with GK2. It's been a while again but I believe it's the opening movie for the last chapter. Gabriel has been bitten and is transported to Rittersberg. First of, if Von Glower wanted Gabe by his side so bad, why didnt he just take him with him somewhere when Gabe became ill?
On the von Glower note, why did Gabe trust him right away? Back to that same movie, what I presume was Gabriel's dream about Ludwig, with Grace as Elizabeth. What I dont get, if it was Gabe's dream, how did he manage to make sense of it and tell Grace where the opera was hidden, while he was heavily ill and couldnt have known about the Opera..
Or am as I as usual missing things?

My favourite game is still GK2 even when I think GK3's story is better, even with the awful 'indiane jones'esque sequence at the end. I adored the Le Serpent Rouge puzzle. Even when replaying it I got the same weird tingle when Grace solves the anagram 'Oh my god.. I mean oh my GOD' And the Grace in Montraux's cellar still scared me O_0
Although both games have bloody obvious villians, that's my only complaint.

To resurect an ancient question, who would you pick to play Gabe in a movie.

Heh, sorry for the topic. This is my first post in this community. I'm Kitsune, a 23 year old romhacker / translator / general lunatic that originally got GK1 and 2 in 1998, and promptly beat them back then.

Aaaaanyway. A while ago, I was looking for Jane Jensen's second GK novel, The Beast Within, since I got the first one with GK1 and 2, and I adored it. But I never found it... while looking at Amazon.com, I kept finding music by a woman also named Jane Jensen. Annoyed, I left the site and never returned.

Sooooo, fast forward two or so years. I went to buy an album today at a local record store, and I found the Jane Jensen album I mentioned above! It was on clearance, for like 5 bucks, and I thought of buying it, but I refrained myself. I was wondering if anyone in this community has bought the CD, and if so could you tell me how it's like? Or direct me to a site that has clips of the song? Please? Thank you!

Hi all! I'm new to the community and well, I'm more than happy to see that there are some people who also love the GK games... felt really lonely speaking about it and nobody knewing what I was talking about... I'm from Spain and been in love with the GK games since they came out and my favourite one is Sins of the Fathers, for me the best game ever... though I'm kinda frustrated right now cause it doesn't seem to work with voices with Windows XP, any help would be appreciated... so right now it seems I can only play The Beast Within and Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned.... Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone and thank Manda for letting me join! :D

Allo, all.

After a couple of years, I decided to play GK2 again, since I loaned GK3 to a friend and I don't have a DOS prompt on my new computer for GK1. Anyway, I'm at the end of the game. Can anyone point me to a detailed walkthrough for the basement maze? The one on GameFaqs is kind of messed up. Danke. :)

Oh yeah-I'm a New Orleans native. I don't know anyone who sounds like Tim Curry's Gabe accent when they speak. I do know a couple of Creoles that sound like the Madame, though. :)

1. I'm playing a "naughty" version of Gabriel Knight 1 which I got for free off the Internet. (Well, really, is it even possible to buy it new?) But no matter what I do, the cursor freezes as the "GK" one at the start of Day 5. Does anyone know how to get around this?

2. I have a crush on Gabriel! Argh! Sadly, I have a tendency to fall for the annoying type anyway, but the sweaty womanising pixelated annoying type is much worse! And I'm nearly 22.

I am truly an idiot! I joined this community like, months ago, but foolishly didn't realise I had to manually add it to my friends list to see it! So I assumed no one posted, and...and...!!!

Anyway, I'm Paul. Um. I have a website with Random GK Stuff, if it's of any use.

I've got both novels, the soundtrack CD and all the games, and I really hope Jane will someday soon start working on a GK4 novel! (I have suspicions that she'll do a GK3 one first, although feel free to correct me!!)

Thanks to everyone who signed the GK petition Sierra, because apparently it provoked some sort of reaction over at Vivendi! In other words, they at least acknowledge the fact that there's still a market for adventure games, and especially for GK.
