Welcome to HPTheories! Before we begin theorizing, we'd appreciate it if you read the following basic guidelines, just to keep things nice and easy!
1. Until otherwise noted, post all potential book 7 spoilers in an lj-cut! To learn how to make an LJ-cut, click here. Not knowing how to make a cut is NOT a valid excuse for posting spoilers! For other information on what a spoiler is and stuff, click here.
2. Please check at least the most recent page or two to make sure that what you've posted hasn't been discussed recently (e.g. within the last 2-3 weeks).
3. People may argue with your theory. This is totally allowed, as it's sort of the purpose here. However, there is NO excuse for any PERSONAL INSULTING. Just because someone disagrees doesn't mean they think you're stupid; just because someone posts something that you don't agree with doesn't mean you can call THEM stupid. Keep it friendly!
4. Yeah, there MIGHT be some younger people in this community, but I'm gonna say right now: Swearing is allowed, as long as it isn't excessive and pointless. No one will be impressed by your ability to spout out thirty different words for male genitalia. However, I personaly don't believe in words that shouldn't be said, so there won't be any rules like that here. If you have a problem with that, sorry, move along...
5. Larger picture or multiple pictures? Put it behind a LJ-cut.
6. This is a community specifically for Harry Potter THEORIES. Just because your post involves Harry Potter in some way does NOT mean that it is welcome here. The types of posts that will be immediately deleted include, but are not limited to: movie news, costuming info, merchandise info, book news that does not involve book content in a direct way (do NOT in a flurry start posting 'the book will be available on [this date]' unless it's attached to a post containing a THEORY), advertising posts of ANY kind, chain letters/posts, etc. The first time you post something off-topic, the post will be deleted and you will be given a warning. The second time will either result in an additional warning or a ban, depending on the posts. If you have ANY questions as to what would be an on-topic post (and hint: if it doesn't include a theory, or at least a question about something specific you think might be important, it probably is off-topic), feel free to e-mail me or IM me at "thegiapet".
7. If someone accidentally posts here instead of their private journals (which happens to me all the time), point it out to them gently. No need to humiliate them and scar them for life.
8. Feel free to give a newbie post-- but make sure you post a theory or two! That's the whole point!
9. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS HERE. Of all SIX books. When book 7 is released, we will have a period where we cut every book 7 spoiler, probably the first 3-6 months.
