Ron and Hermione joined Neville, Seamus and Dean the West Ham fan up in the top row. As a surprise for Harry, they had painted a large banner on one of the sheets that Scabbers had ruined. It said Potter for President and Dean, who was good at drawing, had done a large Gryffindor lion underneath.

Another option is to ignore the extra sewing lines and omit the corners at the bottom of the pattern.

hardhatcat for the excellent idea of a Harry Potter sampler. I don't yet have an "A" design, so I thought we'd start with something I do have. Lots of requests have come in for House Crests/Shields and I thought it was about time to get started with them! I'll be posting a picture block with the letter it begins with. "G" for Gryffindor, "R" for Ravenclaw, etc. Suggestions are always welcome!

Guess I better get to work making sure the rest of the crests are ready. ;)
I did see that the pattern link has changed and the new pattern includes a piecing guide (ie AB>C etc). Is this modified one the latest? the pattern I got from the link earlier one I think didn't have this.
Also piecing B11 is very thin and awkward to get right as it is one the edge of a section. It also is a bit stiff and took extra pressing to sit right. Is there some way that the pattern can achieve the desired results without having such a long thin piece?
As usual feel free to disregard any comments and as always I love your patterns :)
B11 is a long thin piece, though I haven't really had any trouble with it. I tried the lion once without, and you lose the facial definition. I ripped it right out and did it over adding the piece back! You could try stitching a little higher, making B11 a wider section. Also try trimming your seams in tiers, one shorter and one longer. That might make it easier to press.
I see you've made a few other improvements on the old pattern too :)
