Hi there! New member but have been lurking for quite some time, you are all so talented!
So, I've recently gotten back into knitting - my last project was an amateur blanket for my now eight-year-old cousin.
I decided to put my mind to a Harry Potter project and came up with the classic house scarve like so many before me.
I'm a Ravenclaw so I've started a PS/CoS style book!Ravenclaw colour scarf. However, I've hit a snag. I ran out of wool halfway through a row and was wondering what to do next? Do I just continue as if I'm switching colours at the end of a row (except with the same colour) Or is there another method? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Miserable little bugger, but less scary to look at than Voldy -_^
Kind of annoying to have such a surly square, but where would we be without him?!

For those who are interested, the pattern for the Harry panel from my Hogwarts Bunch blanket is now available for Crocheters and knitters from my website - http://totallee.net!
This is my first attempt at putting a pattern together so hopefully it turns out looking like him rather than something by Picasso....
Cheers guys!

Isn't it BRILLIANT!!
Once I saw the pic I KNEW I had to use it! Perfectly Mysterious -_^
(Plus it meant I didn't have to use up a background colour! Bonus!)

However, my step mother is allergic to all different kinds of animal oils and therefore cannot wear wool, cashmere, alpaca or llama and so I'm looking for recommendations as to silk, cotton and linen yarns for book Ravenclaw colors(bronze and blue).
Can anyone direct me to an online retailer?
Miss Granger is finished ^__^!
Which means *drumroll*..
Row 1 of the Hogwarts Bunch blanket is done!
Apologies for the angle - I had to do a bit of a spiderman and attach myself to the ceiling just to get the 3 in the shot!
Measures just short of 2 metres across!
If you click on it and go to the larger version, you'll spot a tape measure running along the top showing the metre mark (just to give you a fair idea of the size -_^)
Many thanks for all your comments!!
You're all awesome! -_^!

I'd like to make a POA Hufflepuff scarf - would you suggest using Daffodil or Caution for the yellow? Also would you use Daffodil or Caution for Gryffindor? Thanks.
I went to Jo-Ann's a couple of days ago, having decided to get the Caron Simply Soft, and I immediately fell in love with it when I saw (and felt) it. It really is the perfect blue color. Unfortunately, though, while there was a really great grey color, I couldn't find anything anywhere near bronze in that brand - or even in any other brands with a similar size strand and texture.
However, someone had also suggested Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice, and the store had plenty of that, so I dug around a bit, and found a color called "honey," which was what had been originally suggested. There was also a good blue ("navy") to go along with it. It's not as nice or soft as the Simply Soft, but it's not scratchy at all, and it's been knitting up beautifully. Oh, and can I just say that I'm loving knitting with circular needles? I've never tried it before, and I was scared to do so, but it's so much easier than I imagined.
If I ever try this project again, though (maybe movie!Ravenclaw?), I'll definitely go for the Simply Soft, or splurge on the really nice online stuff (Knitpicks, maybe?).
Anyway, thanks again for all the help. :)

Here's what I've got so far. The bronze looks a little more yellow in the picture than it actually is.
The brands: (from here)
Sensations
Lion Brand
Patons
Bernat
N.Y. Yarn
Caron
Moda-Dea
TLC
Red Heart
Thanks so much. :)
i have 2 questions:
1. what does the 'errata' text mean? is that correction only for one row? or is it in the pattern?
"Row 4: [K6, P2tog, P1] around
Row 4.5: Errata: add a row of [K6, K2tog] around
Row 5: K6, K2tog [K5, K2tog] around (note: you will include the first knit stitch of the next row in your final K2tog. From here on out, "
2. what does "sewing in a curve" entail?
any help would be much appreciated! thank you all in advance!!
My questions..
For the most famous PoA scarf do you K1,P1 or just K each row?
Which needle size would you suggest for the project? (i got 13s. I'm such a spaz.)
andd..
Would it be best for a beginner to use the circular needles or normal ones?
Thanks so much!
I have a question for anyone who has completed a Weasley Sweater from Charmed Knits, I found the pattern on Ravelry. The instructions are here.
So. Question: I've just completed my H and have reached the appropriate length to begin shaping the neck opening. It says to K45, then slip 16 onto a stitch holder, then K29. But there aren't enough stitches to do all of that with. So, I'm not sure if the numbering is off and I missed the corrections or if there is an appropriate way to manage it all and I'm missing it.
"...When the charted rows are finished, continue working in St st with colour A only until piece measures 10-1/2 (13, 17-1/2, 20-1/2, 22, 24, 25-1/2, 27-1/2)" [26.5 (33, 44.5, 52, 56, 61, 65, 70) cm] from CO edge (uncurl edge to measure correctly), ending with a WS row completed.
<<My problem area!!>> Shape neck opening
Next row (RS): K31 (36, 40, 45, 49, 54, 59, 64), slip last 12 (14, 14, 16, 16, 18, 20, 22) sts worked onto stitch holder for centre neck, k19 (22, 26, 29, 33, 36, 39, 42).
Work right shoulder (as worn) sts only:
Row 1 (WS): Purl to last 3 sts before neck opening, p2tog, p1 -- 18 (21, 25, 28, 32, 35, 38, 41) sts rem.
Row 2 (RS): K1, k2tog, knit to end of row -- 17 (20, 24, 27, 31, 34, 37, 40) sts rem....>>
if anyone could offer some assistance on understanding this that would be greatly appreciated!
