List of HP Essays posted *outside* of [info]hp_essays
Hi everyone,

We've had dozens and dozens of wonderful essays posted here at [info]hp_essays since the community was begun; but there are loads of other great essays out there - both on LJ and outside of it - that you might have missed. That's really a shame, given all the wonderful speculation and discussion that's going on all the time; so I decided to put together a collection of links to some of the essays posted outside of this community that I had stored in my bookmarks and in my memories.

I'd really appreciate if any of you have any links to other meta sites or essays you'd like to share; both [info]fraught and myself would like this to be the most comprehensive list it can be, and we'll both be adding to it over time. If you spot any broken links, or any mistaken attributions, feel free to leave a comment to let me know.

And, of course, you are all strongly encouraged and invited to post your own essays and thoughts here, on any aspect of the Harry Potter books - more discussion is always a good thing!

Don't forget the essays by [info]pharnabazus (the only things posted in his journal) which would fall under your wizarding world/society/organization category. Great list!

As far as I know, though, [info]pharnabazus already posted a link to his essay on this community, and I was trying to compile a list of ones which hadn't. But thank you anyway! I appreciate the comment :)

The Crouch Novenna so belongs on this list. I know it's TBAY, but it's just divine. Expecto Patronum or How the WW works is also pretty intense. There is also K2K - which is a pretty clever theory.

I am very amused that you omissed a certain topic though - there is not one single ship essay topic to be found.

In other news: I have to be stopped. Especially when it comes to the Trio and/or Hermione.

*smacks forehead* I knew there was some stuff I'd forgotten! This was my project to keep myself from going insane amused during the Great LJ Blackout, and I was working almost entirely from bookmarks and my own memory - it's humbling to admit how crippled I am without my flist and my memories section to help me!

I am very amused that you omissed a certain topic though - there is not one single ship essay topic to be found.

*g* Which, I am afraid, once more reflects my own interests and preoccupations. I am not a great shipper, and tend not to read many shipping essays; and I'm sure you can tell from the size of some sections of this list where my interests tend to lie, and where my flist tends to take me. If you do know of any good sites which host shipper essays/LJ users who post essays - and of course your own! your brain is most shiny, and I have often meant to comment and tell you so - do let me know, and I might have a go at putting together a list of shipping essays. :)

In other news: I have to be stopped. Especially when it comes to the Trio and/or Hermione.

I've written an essay about the Harry/Snape slash pairing, at http://www.livejournal.com/community/snape_potter/378877.html. I'd be happy to re-post it here, but I don't know if the readers are that slash-tolerant. (I looked over a few of the slash related essays... I'd completely forgotten it's a controversial topic.)

We'd love it if you would re-post your essay here! This community is dedicated to discussion of any aspects of the Potterverse and its fandom - slash, het and gen topics are all equally acceptable. I know slash can be a controversial topic, but neither myself nor [info]fraught (my co-mod) would have the slightest problem with you posting your Snarry essay - as long as your essay is more than 150 words and not an obvious attempt at trolling, it is welcome here (and skimming quickly through yours, it definitely doesn't seem to fall into either of those two categories). I'm not sure how many of our readers are into slash, but I'm sure that even many of those who aren't will be more than willing to debate the topic in a polite and civilised manner :)

Look forward to seeing your post soon!

It's okay. Because FINALLY, I have found it! *is ecstatic*

After an hour (and agony of yesterday; also from sifting through January to April) or so of searching the back issues of the daily_snitch, I have found it!

It's Biblical Basis for J.K.Rowling’s MWPP Characterization by Lilian Cho. If you'd be adding this to the list of essays, Lilian has a note on distribution: "Please ask permission first. Give the proper credit to lilian_cho and link back to this post."

I'm completely in awe at your memories. It's very very well organized. I'm such a sucker for neatly organized ideas.

Ah, now my research paper can go on to its regular programming. :]

I'll definitely be adding the post into this entry, to save future seekers the pain ;)

Thank you! It took me forever to get them all rearranged and sorted like that - LiveJournal's memory function isn't exactly the most user friendly at times - but I do get an enormous amount of satisfaction out of having everything neatly categorised. :)

Best of luck with your paper!

I know myself for looking for things on LiveJournal that it can be a real pain at times unless people use their memories function.

Ah, yes. But at the moment I was reading that essay, my mind was all "Very interesting, hmmm." and it was more of a lesiure reading. Little did I know that when school started, I would end up with proposing HP as a paper topic, now I went all "Isn't there an essay about the Marauders and Biblical parallels?" hence the mad scramble to find that essay and make it a part of the proposed sources before the deadline.

LiveJournal's memory function isn't exactly the most user friendly at times

I've learned my lesson. Now I've safely added any link of interest or relevance to my del.icio.us linkage page. (Which I think is much handy for links in and out of LJ)
