The New Library First-Time Fest![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) tnl_first_timeThis is a new fest, which will begin in just over a week's time (August 17th!)
The goal is for authors to try something new. So...
Never actually written anything before? Normally a bit scared of these fests and exchanges where everyone seems to know what they're doing? Well, at this fest everyone is doing something new, so it's a great time to start writing fanfic!
And if you've already written, well...
Normally write lengthy fics? Five, six, ten thousand words per chapter? Why not try writing drabbles or a perfectly timed one-shot?
Normally write slash, but curious about femmeslash? Or het? Or gen? Or vice versa? Then try it!
Normally write humour? Darkfic? Then why not try writing your OTP in a different way?
This is essentially what we hope everyone will do. Try writing a different fic length, a different ship, a different genre! You can pick a prompt that appeals to you but is a little different and experiment! We;re hoping for some wonderfully diverse stories to get written this fall, so please come join in if you think you'd enjoy it! |

| Two new communities |

There is a new thematic drabble community in the fandom and it is all about Albus Severus and Scorpius: as_s100
The primary focus is the relationship between Albus Severus and Scorpius, from friendship to more with fun themes for each week. Challenge is to do the 100 word drabbles and get votes as best by the other members.
So come join us for fun and laughs as we develop the characters into fandom!
ALSO for those that love all of the next generation...
There will be humour with a side helping of cyn’s love of crack and the characters will be developed into maturity from the moment they begin their adventures.
There will be prompts and challenges and anything else you can think of – maybe even a cookie or two!
hp_nextgen100 is going to focus on the next generation of Hogwarts students, all of them, and the journey through Hogwarts or after in 100 word drabbles!

| Harry Potter Monthly Fanfiction Challenge |

The Harry Potter Monthly Fanfiction Challenge is a new writing community with the following set up.
Participants in the challenge will write a short (or long) drabble/ficlet for every day of the month. Every month will be designed around a different character, pairing, or genre of character voted on by the members of the community (The Trio, Crack!Fic, Rare Pairs, etc.). Then, half of the month will have daily themes (Bananas, Heartbreak, Songs, Images, etc). The other half of the month will have optional themes where you may choose to incorporate the prompt or not. It is not an obligation to write for every day of the month. All writers who do will recieve a banner, an icon, and be listed in the Hall of Fame.
Both writers and readers are welcome to join the community. Just please do your best to comment on other people's work!

rs_games is a new art/fic challenge community. There will be two teams of up to 40 writers, 8 artists, and 3 alternates per team. One for those who wish to work with the Puppies’ childhood and schooling (Marauder’s Era, or 1960 - 1977) and one for Post-Hogwarts and beyond (1977 - 1997.) Each team will compete to win the Puppyshippers’ Gold by creating the best fics and artwork. The public at large gets to vote on the best fics and art works, but the real fun is in the process of creating some wonderful R/S works to share!
Signup's for rs_games will begin on February 25th and end on March 3rd at Midnight EST. For more information and rules please view this page.

Announcing the first annual weasley_fest, a gift exchange fest designed to celebrate our love of the Weasley family throughout the month of June! Our goal is to encourage the creation of fan fiction and fan art that focuses on all of the individuals who make up the whole of this wonderful Wizarding family.
Sign-ups:
We will be opening to sign-ups on Sunday, February 10th and will run until Friday, February 29th.
Assignments will be mailed out to the participants by the first week of March and will be due by May 24th.
All submissions will be posted throughout the month of June.

I'd like to advertise my new community; fic_a_thons, which is a comm that runs 7 fic-a-thons a month, all different fandoms, including one multi-fandom one.
There is no min or max as to how many ("a-thons") a month you can join (from 0-7) or just friend the comm to read and get updates.
We're also taking suggestions for fandoms, characters, pairings, prompts, and holidays.

J. K. Rowling gets all the money and the fame, but why should she have all the fun? Every month for the past few years, she has posted a Wizard of the Month (WotM) on her official website, but this feature appears to be ending with her online desk calendar now an archive. Plus, the Harry Potter universe is just too big for only one Wizard of the Month. hp_wotm is a community for the fans to try their hand at creating their own Wizards of the Month based on a monthly challenge theme.
Membership at hp_wotm is open. In order to post your own WotM (art and text or text only), you must join and read over the rules and posting guidelines. If you aren't interested in posting your own WotM but would like to keep an eye on the magical characters created by fellow fans, you are still invited to join, add the community to your friends list, and comment on any and all entries.

Introducing hp_misfitfics- a Harry Potter Gen Fic Community!
Community Summary:
Welcome to this little corner of the universe, dedicated to giving poor, neglected Harry Potter Gen fic the attention and readership it deserves.
Are you primarily a ship writer, but suddenly find yourself writing a non pairing specific piece and you don't have a community to share it with?
Would you like to maintain your friends locked journal, but still wish for your writing to find readership beyond the confines of your flist?
Well search no more!
All types of Harry Potter Gen Fic are welcome here. Character based pieces, plot or action based pieces, and friendship pieces are all appreciated and encouraged.
What do you mean by Gen Fic?
For the purposes of this community a Gen Fic is defined as any kind of fan fiction in which action and primary focus of the piece does not center around a romantic relationship.
Now this does not mean that a romantic relationship can't be present in your fiction. For example, Ron and Hermione can be a couple in a piece as long as their relationship is not the primary focus, and the action does not center around them getting together, being together, breaking up, or has one of them dwelling on unrequited feelings for the other.
Rules:
1. Fiction can be posted about any of the characters in any of the 7 Harry Potter Novels.
2. All genres of gen fiction are welcome and encouraged.
3. Het and Slash pairings are permitted, so long as their appearance in the story is secondary and is in accordance with the description of Gen Fic above. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact star54kar for clarification.
4. There will be no bashing of anyone's work on this community. Constructive critisim is welcome. Flaming is not. Any trolls will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
5. Please place the appropriate warnings for your piece in the header of the story.
6. All stories should be placed behind a lj-cut.
7. Most importantly, have fun and happy reading:)

Whereabouts – America; specifically Chicago
What I Do – Psychologist-in-Training, stay-at-home girlfriend
Genres I can Write – Het or Slash, Gen or Smut, Plot or No Plot. Really I can do and am open to just about everything. However, just as a precautionary warning, I do love my smut!
What I Offer
Harry Potter – I have experience playing Snape, Luna, Draco, Lucius, and Ginny. Right now I’m looking to play mainly Snape and Luna. I also have two OFCs and two OMCs. See the final section on “Original Characters” for details about them.
My RP journals are: hbp_severus, misslooney, and missginevra. I have and/or can provide writing samples of every character I’ve ever played.
Twilight – I can play Bella, Edward, or Alice. As I don’t have much experience here, I can’t say who I prefer, but I am comfortable with the three of them. I’m sorry that I don’t currently have any journals or writing samples for these characters.

| Rocks Fall: Harry Potter & the Epilogue Rewrite Challenge |

When you read the last pages of the 7th Harry Potter book...
Maybe you thought the epilogue got all the relationships right, but all the jobs wrong?
Maybe you thought the epilogue style read like was written by an overly-eager eleven-year-old, and could do with a script re-write?
Maybe you thought the kids were cool, but the ships weren't what you were hoping for?
Maybe you thought the people who lived would have died, and the ones who died would have lived?
Maybe some people named their kids something else, and others didn't have kids at all?
Maybe the epilogue took place days later, instead of years?
Maybe you wanted better dialogue, or just different things to be mentioned?
Maybe everyone didn't marry their high school sweetheart?
Maybe nineteen years later, things aren't ...quite so conventional?
If, like many of us, you weren't satisfied with JKR's last words with these characters, then join rocksfall_hp, and submit your version of the epilogue!
If you have already written an alternative epilogue for HP, or if you feel like you're up to the challenge, join our community and post it there! Folks are also welcome to join simply to read the alternate epilogues by friending the community, or to participate in weekly group discussions. If you want to post your entry but aren't interested in constant updates, you can join the community without friending it.
There is no end-date to this challenge, and you can submit as many entries as you wish. You may direct any questions to the Questions, Comments, and Suggestions page at the comm. (I am also looking for someone good with layouts to spruce it up a bit, if anyone is interested.) |

A hot-off-the presses community for those with a certain distaste for Tonks, antitonks is aptly named because it celebrates all things non-Tonks. While this is primarily a Remus/Everyone but her community, it will also serve to bring together members of the HP fandom who are just sick of Tonks. Posting is open for fics, art, and discussion of all ratings (so long as the really bad stuff is behind a cut).
So please, if you dislike Tonks as much as I do, join the community!
