Marcus is a monster on the battlefield. She sees him tearing his way through the Death Eaters, never stopping until he’s reached his goal. Even in silent moments she sees his hand tightly clutching his wand.

She sees him running through ruined streets, dodging hexes cast by both sides and thinks how ruthless she thought he was as a Quidditch Player, how much he bent the rules.

Now, as she watches him break the arm of an opponent without a second thought, she realizes just how docile he was, how a few rules were able to keep him in check.

Angelina stared at the quill in her hand. She'd just been about to start a 'Get well'-card for Harry when she'd been told the news.

Despite the best efforts of the St. Mungo staff, Voldemort had taken his vanquisher with him.

And all she could do now was to wish she'd ever really known him. Not the seeker. Not the hero. Just him. Harry.

After a while, she dipped the quill into the ink and wrote:

Dear Harry, I'm sorry. Love, Angelina

She looked at the few words for a long time.

Perhaps Harry, wherever he was now, would understand.
