Felix Howard
Remember this kid from Madonna's 80's "Open Your Heart" video? His name was Felix Howard, he was from the UK and was 13 when he appeared in it. In the video, he keeps trying to sneak a peek at Madonna until finally they dance off together happily into the sunset at the end.

He apparently couldn't get a proper work visa arrangement to tour with Madonna worldwide for her "Who's That Girl" tour, so California's Chris Finch replaced him for it. Felix meanwhile went on to play in bands and later become a songwriter, writing stuff for Amy Winehouse, Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, and Beverly Knight. In March 2008 he was promoted to VP of A&R for EMI Music Publishing UK. Nice job!

EDIT: I'm also now reading online that he once spoke in a magazine interview about developing a rare skin condition causing discoloured blotches to appear all over - like what Michael Jackson had claimed to be experiencing, and as a kid-model (including magazine covers and TV appearances) it was difficult to deal with. Looks like you can see 'em a bit in the last picture. But looks like he's done awesome career-wise!

That's funny. But this happens a lot. It's the adorable kid and ugly adult theory. It's actually pretty common. In reverse too, ugly duckling to swan. He's very average but his head is too big.

Hey, I was the original poster on this and just wanted to say that I've been a lurker to this comm for a mondo long time - this was my first post here and it started getting replies almost immediately, and it's been fun seeing lots of all sorts of different comments posted. Thanks all.

And if I may get slightly reflective for a minute...

I've been reading about the vitiligo being hard for him to deal with. I mean, it'd be hard for Joe Average, but imagine being a kid/teen who was known for specifically for being a model; being defined by your looks, then both encountering growing up and having to deal with the skin-changing thing. He also apparently (I've been reading) cried profusely for ages when he couldn't go around the world on the Madonna tour at 13-14, talk about what would've been an amazing life experience thing for anybody and then to be denied it. But, I guess we all have our own challenges, and look where he is now, churning out hits for some talented artists, and VP of A&R for EMI Publishing in the UK - he's done pretty well for himself, I'd say. :)

I don't want to come across as the morality police, because I'm just as guilty of laughing at people that don't know how to groom or dress themselves properly, but like I said he's pretty average looking. He looks like he could be my mechanic or something. He's clearly a person that's not worried about his appearance and isn't getting waxed or laying in a tanning bed. If I saw him walking down the street, I'd probably not even notice him.

P.S. - I'd love to see the lovely visage of those that are all "Ewww!!!eleventy!". I'm sure they are all models and beauty pageant winners. I should probably leave my house with a bag over my head so as not to assault their eyes with my hideousness!

Yeah...deffensive of myself not someone who I've probably never even met in my life. There is a difference. and yes, you expressed your opinion, and then you made remarks about how much you disagree with everyone elses, and I dont think it's all that "civil"
to say "You don't get out much" and such to someone. And "I'd like to see what YOU look like" you could have just as easily said "You know, I don't think he looks that bad." and left it at that.

I didn't ask for you to make a reference to my comment in yours, but you still felt the need. it wasnt adressed to you at all.
Whatever, though..i'm not going to argue about it anymore.

While adding music to my You Tube playlist and having to ask Yahoo Answers for the Madonna video I was remembering, it was "Open Your Heart" I was looking for. You Tube did not have the music video in its original form. A fast speed version and a terrible, load remix version, but only MTV had the original video in its natural form. I always remembered that video because of Madonna's dancing in the erotic outfit and the cute boy waiting outside dancing in the funny mirror. Madonna dancing with the boy outside is nice. I always wondered what happened to the boy, Felix Howard. On imdb.com, he has a film credit Deadmeat (2007) as "Victor". And now squarerootof has an update of Felix and how he looks today. Very impressive. I wonder if Felix Howard ever got to see or talk to Madonna again. I wish Mr. Felix Howard all the luck in his new career.
