The Killers of Comedy - San Francisco - 9-19-2008

I went to the Killers of Comedy show in San Francisco, CA last Friday. Thanks to San Francisco being the second worst place in CA (second only to LA), we were 30 minutes late to the show. According to the website, this show was to only include: Shuli, Sal, Bob Levy, and Artie Lange. Once we arrived, we saw Levy do about 5 minutes. Next came Artie Lange. Apparently they don't do intermissions between their super short sets. Whatever though, I came to see Artie. He was on for around an hour. I will admit that I had heard about 65% of the jokes before on the show. I suppose that comes with the territory. Toward the end, he brought out Beetlejuice as a surprise. We were sitting on the side and Artie was so fat, his body was sheilding our view of Beet. The bit was lame, as we all know Beet is retarded. At the end, the previous acts came out and I was surprised to see Yucko! Apparently he was a surprise guest as well.

As we all know, Artie is fat. I must tell you, though, he has the largest head and face I have ever seen. It doesn't even compare to those people on the "I eat 33,000 calories a day" shows.

The best part was that Eric the Midget was there. He was sitting front and center. I'm sure most of you heard the shennagains that Artie put him through to get tickets. Apparently this show was the first time that Artie met ETM in person. ETM sat reactionless the whole time. There was no clapping, no smiling, and no reaction of any kind. He was completly stoic. Even though I hate the little, ungrateful bastard - it was really sad when Artie introduced Eric and everyone booed! I started to feel less guilty once Artie handed ETM the mic and while Artie tried to shush the boos, ETM was trying to plug an appearance that's coming up where he will be at the Erotic Exotic Ball. What a little bastard - using his 10 seconds of fame to plug an appearance. Not surprising though.

Artie's large bald spot.

This is the best pic of ETM I could get. My damned camera wouldn't focus in on him.

I am interested to see some sober Artie comedy.

I'm going to see them in San Francisco this weekend. It's going to be Artie, Bob Levy, Sal, and Shuli. I wish the Sheik and Beet were going :(

The tickets were pricey so it better be good!!

Artie Lange, who's long overindulged with drugs and drink, was scheduled to attend close pal Bob Saget's Comedy Central roast on Sunday night, but never made it to LA. Instead, he checked himself into an intensive outpatient rehab program. A source said Lange "felt awful for not being there for Bob, but needed to make his health a priority." Lange also canceled his stand-up shows this weekend, but plans to return to his regular gig on Stern's Sirius radio show when it returns from hiatus.
XM and Sirius Merge - For Reals

Howard officially welcomed Sirius XM to the corporate world. Howard said the combined company now has 18.5 million subscribers, and he believes it will become the dominant radio medium. Robin applauded Howard for taking such a risk by jumping to satellite, and Howard thanked her, saying he was glad to see it pay off. Artie said he wanted to start drinking: “This is what we have the bar in for, right?” Howard then addressed the NAB: “Get ready for the fight!”

Ben Stern (Howard's father) called in to say that he was very happy with the news, as it proved the FCC was just a useless piece of red tape. Ben pointed out that even their $500,000 fine against CBS for Janet Jackson's SuperBowl wardrobe malfunction had been overturned. Ben kept lavishing praise on Mel Karmazin for brokering the deal, but Howard quickly became irritated: “What about me?” Howard then said he was joking: Mel will be in tomorrow to celebrate and explain the deal's details.

The FCC finally approved the XM Sirius Merger yesterday, I'm sure Howard is happy about this, and will go on for at least an hour about it on Monday. It only passed 3-2, all the republicans approved it and democrats were against it, so sad since I usually vote democrat. Well I am very happy about this and can't wait for even more programing options, now the real question is will they keep Opie and Anthony?
