Okay episode.

Both patients were so about House and Wilson. =)

(And 13 might actually be awesome next week. Do not fail me, show.)

Did anyone else think when House and Wilson were standing in the elevator and the camera was to their backs that they were gonna start making out? That would have been hot.

I didn't get Wilson's comment at the end...?

Anyway, House was in utter shock at the patient's confession. I had a feeling she killed someone.

Those little kids were too adorable for their own good.

And next week's look EPIC! Thirteen looked...wow, horrible.

Emancipation was strange. Was Wilson being wierd just to get House to care about Cuddy, or was he being wierd cause he's getting all fucked up again, but he isn't telling House and House dosn't care now. If there are paralells to the POTW, then Wilson's hiding something, or I am just thinking way more than the writers.

Is it just me, or was this episode very...quiet? No dramatic music or sudden fits of coughing blood, no psychological babble between House and Wilson, and even the song at the end had a very mild tone to it.

The metaphorical "quiet before the storm," I guess, considering what happens next episode.

I liked the episode, a lot actually.

Everyone seemed to get good screen time (and I mean 'everyone' as the ducklings. Wilson's was average for him, House's was lacking, Cuddy...she coulda not been there and I wouldn't have noticed)

More random thoughts....

Poor House, he's like, "Why am I always getting shot at?!" And, "Why is Wilson never around, when this happens, to come save the day?"

And does this mean no more Cuddy/House in the romantic sense? I mean, I've read some spoilers but this feels like the end of House trying to be with her, or deal with his feelings, or whatever he calls it.

So... again:

If Wilson is being all weird and flip-flop-y because he actually wants Cuddy for himself, then wouldn't that be really fucking counter-productive for the season thus far? I mean really.

Am I the only person on the planet who doesn't want Wilson to be with Cuddy? Really?

There is a fraction of a second of Wilson in the promo, in House's office with all the rest of them, so hopefully there will be at least some scenes of him freaking out next week, if there isn't then they totally jumped the shark and all TPTB suck.

But why so much damned 13, in every single episode? I think OW has had at least 20 times the screen time of RSL this season, and that is not good.

Wilson was being weird and we got no reason as to why he was being weird, all of the sudden, he just wasn't being weird anymore. Hopefully, we'll get some light shed on that in the future.

Pretty fun episode - interesting patients (though the main patient, actually, was a little flat), minor bits of character development for nearly everyone (especially Foreman, who'd been treading water a lot lately), and Wilson playing-or-not-playing mind-games with House. Felt very Classic House, actually, with not a lot of over-the-top DRAMA in the leads' personal lives.

Possible interpretations for Wilson bowing out: he really does want to try to enforce more boundaries with House (lol kinky) and has done as much intervening in the situation as he plans to do, or he wanted to act mysterious to get House to pay attention to him more.

Now, for long-term spoilery speculation, because trying to guess what will happen is my second-favorite thing about fandom (after the porn, obvs). I had posted my theory last week about how this H/Cuddy arc matches up very closely with the H/W arc of earlier in the season, and I'm going to repost it because I think it still works.

Dying Changes Everything & Joy - Possible change to relationship, spurred by non-House-character's loss of a loved one.

Not Cancer & The Itch - House tries to deny he is affected, but eventually realizes he really is.

This leads me to suspect that the next episode (Emancipation) will feature even more denial, but the focus won't be on House's emotional life - more on the ducklings, with a side dish of attention to House and Wilson's relationship, just as Adverse Events had a side of House and Cuddy. <-- This! Totally held up, hurrah.

Last Resort will have a crisis that will clarify both House and Cuddy's thoughts about what's important in their relationship (hostage situation = parallel to House's dad dying in Birthmarks) - possibly brings up more uncertainty, more likely settles on the importance of their friendship. Then episode 10, like Lucky 13, will be about reestablishing normalcy. ...that's my guess, anyhow. <-- This guess I will modify a little - Last Resort may be more likely to make Cuddy think about the possibility of a relationship with House, which may be raised in Let Them Eat Cake. This will very likely cause House to panic and back away, or at least for the characters to have some kind of conversation about their relationship, what it is and what it isn't, to resolve the arc (but not put a *too* definitive cap on the possibility of future H/Cuddy, because this show does not like to definitively resolve things ever) by 11 and reestablish normalcy in 12. That's my (possibly worthless) prediction, anyhow.

Aaaand, since this comment just isn't long enough yet, did anyone catch if Wilson was visible at all in the promo?

I also love Taub. "I have Huntington's disease." lol.

Anyone else think the writers must have something big planned for 13? I feel like they've been building up to it all season so far. Maybe once they hit that point she'll start fading into the background again...?

For me, this episode kind of closed the book on House/Cuddy and possibly Wilson/Cuddy. They all seemed content to just preserve the status quo.

Oh, and before I forget to comment on this:

What kind of mother doesn't realize that her little boy is squirelling away pills and jamming them down his brother's throat?! What little brother would willingly accept the pills without tattling or outright refusing?

I thought the little boys were creepy. Like, they would eventually find out that the older one was sexually abusing the younger one or something. You know, like a flip of the separate cases?

I just rewatched the last scene. It was strange that Wilson said

"You're ass, but a noble one."

I don't remember many times when Wilson actually spoke almost admiringly directly to House.

Then when Wilson said to House "you're going to be okay" he said it in his really said voice, almost to me like he was saying that House was okay, but he wasn't.

Maybe I am reading too much into this stuff, I am just so hoping for some serious angsty Wilson, but it probably is just too much wishful thing on my part, the writers care way more about Huddy and 13 it seems.

Still those lines were odd to me, I hope I'm right.

I think this is the first time we've seen Wilson admit directly to House that he admires him. Wilson has expressed it before to Foreman ("He's good. You know he can make you good") and to Tritter ("better me than him" . . .not testifying speech).

Yeah, the writers care way too much about the Huddy. :(

Oh my god, I have to say I loved this episode because of the dialogue between House and The POTW in the end.

"Believe whatever you want". Dejá vu, anyone?

"You're scared and stubborn. And you don't like people to feel sorry for you. Why not?"
"I don't want pity. I just want to be normal."
"But you know you're not. You need to see people how independent you are and how well you're coping, so they don't wanna see the lost little girl.Because that's not what you see. You see someone who did something terrible, who deserves to suffer, but doesn't deserve to live."
House, are we projecting? Because that is exactly what sums up his existence.

When they talked about the accident killing the POTW'S brother, did anyone else think "Ouch, bus accident parallel"?
"If they didn't hate you, they will then."
"I don't care."
"Sure you do. You want someone to tell you: it was just an accident. It is not that bad. It is that bad and you know it. There is nothing you can do to change that. But there is something you can do not to make it worse."

When she tells him the truth he can hardly stand to look at her, he has to sit down and he really expresses understanding. This scene alone should be worth an Emmy. And once again we get a glimpse inside House's huge guilt complex, his non-existing self-esteem and his dependence on an misanthropic exterior facade.

And that makes me soooo sad. And then follows the music...

Well, I am ranting, sorry, occupational risk for shrinks.

The oddest thing to me about last night's episode was how quiet House was. I don't think he raised his voice even once--or get into a good rant--or even worked up a good sarcastic tone like he usually does. He seemed really subdued.

I definitely want to see our normally calm Wilson do a bit of panicking next week. It shouldn't take much--all he has to do is think about House, who rarely puts a check on what he says and can verbally annoy the hades out of people--trapped in a room with a desperate gunman.

And 13's real name, Remy Hadley, sounds like a comic book character. XP
