Questions, Suggestion & anything else
It's always useful to have such a post to keep things clean, right?

If you have any question, whatever the occasion might be, please leave a comment here.

My experience is anything to count on, HTML coding gets severely screwed up when posting through e-mail, so if I just attached the document and have you read through the MWord document for the format yourself, would that amount to the same thing?

Yes, please do attach the word-doc to the email and don't paste your entry into the body of the mail. Otherwise it will get screwed up along the way.

What are the rules in relation to shipping?

Unless there is a specific regulation, the writer can write whatever he/she wants. The first round will focus on themes, so the 'ship is up to the writer.
I'll try and check what the voter's ships are to get a little bit of a tendency. Maybe I'm naive but it's kind of the only way, I guess.

Who gets to vote? Only the participants? Community members? Anyone who drops in? Will it be closed-ballot/anonymous or otherwise?

Everybody get's to vote. In that way, it's working just like the last icon maker standing episodes.
I will post a poll along with the entries.
Anonymous voting won't count though.

I was wondering if there is a skill level to this competition? I'm interested in signing up but I'm not the best writer in the world. are we allowed to have betas in this comp?

No, there is no required skill level or anything. I'm not really a fan of elitist communities. So you feel like it, sign up. Your call :D
Of course you're allowed to have a beta. There it no need for it, that's up to you. If your beta can return your fic in time, totally cool.

Are we allowed to have a beta?

By all means. If your beta is able to return your fic in time for submission, of course you can have it beta-read. It's not required though. If you can make sure that your sentences make sense and there are no major glitches, it's totally up to you.

Do notes, headers etc go into the word count?

No, they don't. Just the plain fic counts.

Do I need to include a header?

No, it's not required.
The only thing I ask for is a warning when your fic contains material rated R and up. That's all.

Can we give feedback to the fics we like?

Yes, you can. It's highly appreciated. Leave a comment to the voting post with the resembling entry number. As for now, the comments are screened but once the voting is over, I'll figure out how to make sure the author gets it.

Hello! I just found this comm, and unfortunately it looks like I missed the deadline for the first round. Does this mean I can't join in until the round is over? How long will that take? I MUST PARTICIPATE, so please let me know. I intend to devotely include my entry by each deadline, without fail. This is such a great idea. Can't wait to hear back from you.

Hehe, it's good to see such devotion ;)
Unfortunately, yeah, you'd have to wait until the next round.
I don't know how long it will take. We have 15 participants now, and will probably vote one out each week. It might take less time than that, depending on people dropping out etc. So I really can't tell at the moment.

Anyway.. stay tuned, read, vote. And sign up for the next round. I'm looking forward to it :D

However unlikely that this will happen, I have to ask anyway. What happens if there's a tie in the voting polls?

I guess it's not that unlikely. As more people get voted out, I think it's even more likely that we'll have a tie.

I haven't actually given that a thought, yet but I think I either have another tie poll or disqualify both (given there are two people in the poll :D ) I'll have to decide that when it happens, I guess.

Okay, I've a question that I'm quite curious about.

How are you going to do the final writing round? Is it going to be the prompt, write, vote for least favorite until only one is left? Or are you going to do something else?

I guess I'll be going with the usual theme, yeah.
At first I was thinking about doing a re-write of one of the former prompts for the final challenge but I'll just stick to what we've been doing so far.
As I said before, I took this whole idea from [info]joss_las and that's what they've been doing over there ;)

I've got a question for you, but I really don't want to sound rude. I just want to be a part of this, but I can't write in a setting like this. Are you looking for a co-mod? I mean, it would make it so you don't have everything on your shoulders, and you did mention that you have uni business going on.

Thanks for the offer. Why would that be rude? :D

I just have one more challenge to go in this round, I think I can handle that much. I don't know if or when there is going to be a second round. If there is a second round, I will probably start it when the new season of House airs. I always found it easier for inspiration to write "along" with the show if you know what I mean.
So if you're still interested then, let me know. I will definitely take it into consideration :D

Hey, [info]xheartrockx, when do you think the sign-up post should be...well, posted? And if you're still interested in having a co-mod, I'm still interested in the job.

Hey there!
I'm not quite sure when the next round should begin. I haven't even caught up on the last season, to be honest. But there is going to be a second season.

I'd definitely be interested in having a co-mod. I'm going to busy and out of town a few times in the next two months, so help is definitely welcome. I'll think it through and let you know. :D

Cool. Well, I have a pretty packed school schedule this year, but not as packed as I would have thought earlier this summer. Okay, I'll be looking forward to this.

Oh, and have any idea what Round two's 'quirk' should be, or should we keep with themes?

I was thinking about maybe doing pairings this round. Like giving people are specific pairing to write about. I think some of the votes are sometimes only cast against a ficlet because of a pairing. I don't know yet. I'm open to suggestions.

That's actually was I was thinking more toward: pairings. Of course, we could also have episode-based ficlets(then there's the problem that some people haven't seen the recent eps, so we'd have to keep it to S1 or S2), or character-based(but there would be limited rounds there, unless we varied it a bit). Maybe even genre based challenges? There are infinite possibilities, but I think we have a good stable ground with pairings.

Yeah, I think the pairing thing is a little challenging for the writers and easier for us to maintain. As you said, not everybody is up to speed with the show, so... I'll think about it *puts thinking cap on*

Hello again! Shall we put up the sign-up post and start advertising the start-up of this round soon, or should we wait another week while people get back into the House scheme?

Hi,
sorry for not getting right back at you. I was in London for a week and just got back.
If you have an IM, I'd like to chat this out, if possible. It's easier than the commenting ;) Let me know. Or drop me a mail.
