There's some link images now available for use... check under Links if you don't already have one and want one. I'm going to try to make a couple more tonight.

You may want to contact the Pawsitively Pit Bull Advocacy with information regarding your case if you haven't already done so.

You and your family are in my thoughts.

You may also want to post the following "quote/information blurb" from this website on the memorial site for Ruby:

Violent acts toward animals have long been recognized as indicators of a violent psychopathology that does not confine itself to animals. "Anyone who has accustomed himself to regard the life of any living creature as worthless is in danger of arriving also at the idea of worthless human lives," wrote humanitarian Albert Schweitzer. "Murderers...very often start out by killing and torturing animals as kids," according to Robert K. Resler, who developed profiles of serial killers for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Studies have now convinced sociologists, lawmakers, and the courts that acts of cruelty toward animals deserve our attention. They can be the first sign of a violent pathology that includes humans.

This site also reports the following statement:

Cruelty to animals should be a felony offense. Both animals and people benefit when abusers are brought into the criminal justice system for sentencing or treatment. Fifteen states have already enacted felony cruelty laws.

I wish there was more I could say or do to help. I just want you to know how much I care. I don't know you personally, but any dog lover like you, is a person I'd welcome as a friend any day. I mean that. If you don't mind I'd like to add you on as a friend to keep in touch and keep up to date on things. If you ever need petition support or just another dog person's support, please let me know. I will spread the word, and have already posted the information on my journal here and on my main website in my "causes" section to spread the word.

p.s. For your own peace of mind, you may want to get the following book: Dog Law (4th National Edition)
by Mary Randolph
. My husband and I turned to that book years ago when we needed it to sue a veterinarian that had botched a neuter surgery on one of our dogs. It helped us so much with legal matters, and we were able to get the surgery details permanently added to that veterinarian's license record.

Best wishes to you and your husband and dogs always.

Thank you so much. The website is really incredible, and I think it will bring hope and spread important information for all concerned dog owners.

From what I have read recently in light of this particular incident, is that it is more common than anyone could imagine. It's tragic how the world is today, with people out there killing innocent beings.

Spreading the word regarding the situation seems to be the only defense at times, and I do think it's important, because many might not be aware of what is going on in the world.

Kudos to you for everything you have done to help.

Best wishes always.

Okay I'm glad it's okay that I posted about it.
I feel so badly for you guys, and wish there was more I could do.
I do agree with the recent post about giving you time to let all this sink in.
I know that when the dog we rescued from a severly neglective home last year ended up attacking a person (nothing serious injury-wise), but it never did sink in for weeks. We put her to sleep the following week because we were afraid that it'd happen again and the police would take her away and put her to sleep. We figured that if anyone was going to do it, it should be us, the only people that ever gave her love in her 7 years of life. The pain and reality of it never did sink in for a long time. I still well up over it and deal with guilt.
My point is, take all the time you need. We all will be here whenever you need us and our support.
Good luck with everything you decide to do regarding this.
*many hugs*

Great site. What a wonderful tribute. Can I offer one piece of constructive feedback? The How To Help page says:

* If you would like to donate money to help Ruby's family pursue all legal means of persecuting this horrid man, you can do so by clicking the lovely Donate button on the left made by kazee

I think it's supposed to say prosecute instead of persecute. However, I'm all for persecuting the guy, too!

Hi hi. *waves* My friend [info]midnightbunny directed me here. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. My heart goes out to you & your family. Just the other day a lady that lives in my neighborhood (<--it was virtually crime free until now) came to my door crying because her neighbor killed her dog. The guy next door to her got angry over a pile of poop in his yard so the bastard left a bowl of antifreeze out in his drive way & the dog drank it. It shook me to the core. I believe there is a special place in hell for the person who shot your beloved Ruby & the guy who poisoned my friends dog. You guys are in my thoughts & prayers big time. ((BIG HUGS)) xoxo <3
