Hey all! I'm just in the States, waiting for the thrid HB season to air! But on a different note...

At the request of one of my friends, who I've recently gotten into Hotel Babylon, I've written a Charlie/Rebecca vignette (well, *I* call it a vignette, but it's more of a songfic, but anyhow), and I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in reading it... message me if you are, haha.

BBC One has commissioned Carnival Films to produce a fourth series of Hotel Babylon for BBC One.

Inspired by Imogen Edwards-Jones' book about life behind the scenes of London's luxury hotel industry, Hotel Babylon looks beyond the glitz and glamour and delves into the lives of the staff and guests.

Gareth Neame, Carnival's Managing Director, said: "We are delighted that BBC One has recommissioned the show as it is so popular with the audience. It has become a global brand and we look forward to delivering even more exciting and contemporary storylines in season four."

Sarah Brandist, BBC Commissioning Editor, Independent Drama, says: "We're really thrilled to be opening the doors of Hotel Babylon for another series. Audiences have continued to love the show this year and future storylines promise a truly explosive fourth series!"

The fourth season, consisting of eight 60-minute episodes will air in 2009.

I don't know if I'm essited about that :( I absolutely LOVED the first 2 series and it's one of my favourite programmes of all time.

But I can't stand Tanya, Emily or Jack, I really miss old!Charlie - not this series Charlie and I don't think Jackie will come back :(

I think series 3 is starting on February 19! Radio Times has it listed here.

They still have Tamzin listed as one of the cast but that can't be right. The episode synopsis definitely seems to be that of a new episode.

Romance is in the air during this third season and we will learn much more about the relationship between the newly promoted General Manger, Charlie (Max Beesley) and his delectable but unpredictable Head of Reception, Anna (Emma Pierson). The Hotel’s everyman Concierge, Tony (Dexter Fletcher) is still the backbone of the hotel but even he will find himself tempted to indulge in the decadent world of Babylon.

A huge and energetic sense of fun will continue to be the mainstay of every Babylon episode. Gino (Martin Marquez), Babylon’s flamboyant Head Barman is back to mix more strangely named cocktails and use ever increasingly futile attempts to find himself a beautiful Mrs Gino. His nemesis, the dashing but desperately snobby James (Ray Coulthard) is back making it quite clear he rises above this dreadful world of servitude, but secretly loving it.

Receptionist Ben (Michael Obiora), is still camping it up and bitching with Anna on the front desk. While Jackie (Natalie Mendoza), the gorgeous Head of Housekeeping will face ever increasing challenges to manage the huge staff of cleaners, chambermaids and other back of house staff.

Hotel Babylon will see some new additions to the regular cast this year and will continue to have a whole host of guest stars throughout the season.

It would seem that the BBC may have put back the S3 airing of Hotel Babylon :(

Whilst their official line in January was 'next month...'. There's been some talk on facebook of it being the 12th of April :(

The cheeky chap and Hotel Babylon head concierge, 41, on his diva behaviour, rubbing shoulders with Robert De Niro, the good and bad times, and his rather small fan base...

You’ve had many guest stars on Hotel Babylon – who’s been the best?
Dexter Fletcher: Paula Abdul springs to mind, because she flirted with me. OK then, with my character. I’m trying to get my mate Jason Flemying to guest star but he’s always too busy.

Was Paula a bit of a diva?
DF: No not at all. I think she was slightly nervous because acting was something different for her. She’s a dancer and a personality more than an actress. But vice versa, if I ever had to dance I’d be nervous. Once she was in the swing of it, she was great and said she’d love to come back again.

Has anyone on the show been a nightmare?
DF: Me. I’m the biggest diva on set. I make sure people have to avert their eyes when I walk past. They all whisper, ‘Oh no, Fletch is on set. Be careful!’ I like to have that kind of unwarranted respect.

Do all the cast get on?
DF: No it’s constant daily fights. We can’t bear to be in each other’s presence. It sounds so mundane but yes, we do all have a great laugh. The luxury of our job is that it’s a treat to see one another really because we only come together once a year.

Have you ever checked into a hotel under an assumed name?
DF: It’s not been necessary for me sadly. My fans are quite respectful...because there’s only about seven of them. The big thing is to check in as a cartoon character isn’t it?

What would you check in as?
DF: Probably Minnie Mouse. Or Dave. No one would expect that.

Do you get starstruck?
DF: Yeah. I had a bit of a moment with Russ Abbot. And David Walliams. They’re people you always see on TV. God, if we could get Ricky Gervais to come on that’d be brilliant. Christmas Extras was so good, I’d have given my right arm to have been walking around in the background of that.

Who’s the best celeb you’ve met?
DF: Robert De Niro. I worked with him on the film Stardust. I played First Mate to his Pirate Captain. He has this very interesting quality where people are automatically reverential around him – and he’s not even aware of it. One time he walked on to a set of 600 people while on his phone. Everyone literally stopped talking. To have that kind of presence is an extraordinary thing.

Are you still in touch with Guy Ritchie from your Lock Stock days?
DF: No, but I see him at events and we’ll chat.

What about Julia Sawalha and the Press Gang lot?
DF: I don’t see any of those guys really. It’s been 20 years. The last one I saw was Paul Reynolds. I went to the cinema and Paul was there with Neil Morrissey. We went for a drink afterwards to catch up. There’s always talk of doing the updated adult version of Press Gang. It would be interesting to see where all the characters would be 20 years on...

What’s been the highest point of your life and the lowest?
DF: The highest was getting married to my wife Dalia (a theatre and opera director). And whenever I get a new job I’m excited and happy. I think the real highest is yet to come. The lowest was when I went bankrupt 11 years ago. I lost everything and ended up living in my car. It’s such a distant memory now. I’m sure other people have had it far worse than that, so I count myself lucky. It helped me clear the decks and start again. I kind of reinvented myself.

Do you feel like a celebrity?
DF: Not really. I am by default because of the job. I’ve been acting for 30 years, so people know who I am I suppose. I do get photographed but they never appear anywhere – I know because my ego always tells me to look.

Do you have any vices?
DF: The odd glass of red wine, but I’m trying to give it up at this time of year. I’m fairly vice-free. That is except for the drugs and prostitutes, of course...

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?
DF: I drove to Italy to see Dalia in a battered-up Mercedes which I bought with the last money I had. It took me four days. It was the last night of an opera she was directing in Tuscany. I was meant to have gone out six weeks earlier for the first day of rehearsals but I didn’t. I went with my brother and I let him do the last bit of driving so I could climb out onto the roof of the car as we arrived and declare my love. She was furious with me for being so late. But she’s been my wife for the last 11 years so I obviously got something right.

How did you meet?
DF: We worked together on a play in the Old Red Lion pub in Islington. Alan Rickman knew Dalia and put us together for the play. And we fell in love.

What are your best and worst physical features?
DF: I’ve got a really good middle toe on my left foot, but the one on the right has been broken so it’s ugly. It’s all about toes. I’ve got reasonably good hair for a man of my age. I don’t like my little fat belly much.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
DF: Minutes. If I’m going to work it takes a bit longer to do all the shaving, showering and scraping that needs to be done. I’ve got it down to half an hour and I can get a coffee in as well.

What were you like at school?
DF: Fairly absent. I was acting quite a bit as a kid so I stuck out. I was a bit of a show-off and I didn’t take any of it very seriously unless there was a school report coming up.

If you could be invisible for a day where would you go?
DF: I’d take a wander round Buck Palace. Or maybe I’d go to the Victoria and Albert museum and go to all those parts you can’t normally get to.

Who would you be stuck in a lift with?
DF: Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant for entertainment, and Jamie Oliver because he’d probably be able to whip up a nice dish out of a bit of carpet and a light bulb.

Baths or showers?
DF: Baths. I do like a long soak to read and relax. Maybe share it with the wife. We’re just furnishing our new place and we want to get a great bathroom, and a big bath we can both get in.

Only in my plastic surgeon’s office.

How many cars do you own?
Technically none. I’m still paying off my Alfa Romeo Spider at the moment.

How much is a pint of lager?

No, but I’ve thought it. A very honest answer. It smacks of desperation, so I’m saving it up for a special occasion.
