Hot Gimmick Chapter 51
Here are the translations XD I tried to get it up as soon as I could so there might be a few iffy parts but if anything is a bit difficult to understand, just post saying so and I'll do my best to explain ^^ Wow...I had a few near heart attacks while I was reading this too (although I made the mistake of reading some people's comments of the chapter before reading it myself so I was a little more prepared than I might have been.) Anyhow, here it is. Behind a link to avoid spoilers. Enjoy!

So... okay, did Hatsumi and Shinogu actually have sex, then? I can't imagine that, there would have been SOMETHING to actually prove it, but... Arg. Confused.

Well from the translations it wasn't that clear either. When Hatsumi told Ryoki she slept with Shinogu, it seemed to me like she was saying it to get back at him (since he told her he slept with Ruri) but then I'd remember back to the face Shinogu was making while he was taking a bath and it looked like an expression of regret?

Best part: Shinogu saying he was going to explode if she did anymore XD

I wonder what happened in the room they went in though. She says they did it, but I can't believe that. I wonder what Shinogu said to her. Silly Ryoki, he loves her awww. Great chapter!

I doubt they'd do that. In the vol where Hatsumi was half-drunk and thought Ryoki was Azusa... her nipples showed and they were not censored.

Thanks for the translation! I got the gist of it (yay basic Japanese skillz) but some of the subtleties/vernacular were lost on me, so thanks.

I'm pretty sure Hatsumi and Shinogu had sex. Hatsumi may have been lying, just as Ryouki was, but Ryouki has BSed before about other girls (Akane, for one) just to make Hatsumi jealous, so lying about Ruri was not out of character for him. Hatsumi, on the other hand, is a terrible liar, and I don't think she told Ryouki about Shinogu to throw it in his face; it seemed like a sad statement of fact.

The way Hatsumi was crying at the end was at least a reaction to realizing how badly she screwed up by sleeping with Shinogu, I think, in the same way that Shinogu's expression earlier in the chapter suggests that he did something he really wished he hadn't.

It's still up in the air, I guess, because we didn't see anything, but it makes sense that with all the times Hatsumi has been in compromising positions, the one time she actually has sex we don't see it.

I'm glad that Ryouki and Hatsumi both believe the other person slept with someone else (at least one of them is wrong), and it doesn't matter. It's twisted, but...awwww.

However this chapter makes me a little sad. I think she probably did sleep with Shinogu, seeing as he was taking a shower and Akane mentioned Hatsumi seemed as though she had taken a shower as well, and like someone above me mentioned Hatsumi really isn't the lying type :/ It does seem a bit out of character though, but seeing as Hatsumi was really upset and Shinogu...well Shinogu's a boy no matter how sweet he may be XD; But this could be wrong.

Wow if she did actually sleep with him, wow. Man, and didn't last chapter everyone think that ryo would be the one to cheat.. def didn't see that coming. That why i truly love this manga!
I don't know what I think.. I get her and Shi., you know he's adopted and he loves her. But I have a brother of my own and urg. I'm sorry to say but everytime I think of htem getting togther a picture of my brother pops up and I find myself sicken to the core.
I loved the end pages, now all they need to do is go to a hotel and we'll all be nice and happy.

Now my comment on the whole sex debate that seems to be going on. I do not at all believe Shinogu & Hatsumi had sex. How I take the scene. Hatsumi throws herself at him because she thinks it will take her pain over Ryoki away. Shinogu being the beyond nice guy that he is stops her and probably leads her to the room so she can lay down/get her head back on straight. How he looks to me in the shower is like a man who needs to take a cold one because he just turned away the woman he loves and has been dreaming of away when she was throwing herself at him. I also agree with the person who said they think Hatsumi just said that because Ryoki was and that they're both lying (we know for a fact he is and as I see it the fact she is also seems pretty obvious *shrugs*).

In fact, I was taken aback when I was reading these comments because when I looked at the scans [info]tricianna posted yesterday and read my Betsucomi issue that came today I never once thought they actually had sex. I'm a die-heard Shinogu x Hatsumi hopeful, so yeah that development would have thrilled me, but I just don't see it oo

But I would be glad if nothing happened between Hatsumi and Shinogu. She threw herself at him to try to forget the pain of seeing someone she loves in the arms of another woman. If she actually went through with it, she would have regretted it, and it'd create a sense of awkwardness between the two that could never be (or at least, not for a long time) mended.

I wasn't saying I'd be glad if they had sex given the context of the scene. I meant in general and if it happened in the right way I'd love for them to have sex, lol.

I went way more detailed on my thoughts of this chapter in my lj. Maybe I should make the entry public so I can get more people's opinions on my thoughs, lol.

Okay, I did go ahead and make it public, if you feel like taking a peak [info]oceansportrait (or anyone else feeling bored or mildly interested), I'd love to hear your thoughts on my thoughts (especially since I do sort of say why what you mentioned just now makes me think they didn't in fact have sex). :)

I agree with the statement that they didn't have sex. We're going on saying how Hatsumi isn't the lying type.... but Shinogu isn't the type who would take advantage of the girl he loves when she's on the rebound and obviously loves someone else. I think it's give or take, man... I don't want to think it happened! I want to think of her lying just so she can be like the typical Japanese heroine who lies for the sake of others. If she tells Ryoki she slept with another man that'll split them up for good and for the better (she thinks). Shinogu's way too sweet to ever do something that'd hurt Hatsumi and you KNOW how good he is at holding himself back.

Wow, thanks for the translations! Seriously, I don't know how you turn them out so fast! Thanks you!!!!!!!

I love Ryoki. I totally didn't expect things to end that way but he somehow managed to be too arrogant or crazy to let things be. I loved it when he straight out said, "You're here with me and not him because you still want me". I mean the readers always know that but no one ever says that, or even realizes it, in love stories.

Here's my two cents on the Hatsumi/Shinogu thing: I don't think they slept together. It doesn't fit the framework of the story (shoujos tend to have pretty predictable formulas). If they did it I'm sure Aihara would have dedicated quite a few pages to it. Though you could argue that she'll show it later in flashbacks since she does like to throw us quite a few curve balls.

I'm sure there'll be at least *some* kind of flashback of it, probably showing them stopping halfway for some reason. I keep thinking that Shinogu's too much of a gentlemen to take advantage of her in this state.

This is a very skeptical post, but also, Aihara sensei normally draws at least a block or two if characters have sex.

I had interpreted it as Shinogu acknowledging Hatsumi wasn't in her right mind, and he basically stopped her. I thought the shower was so he had time to think about everything.

Ok, when i first saw the scans and all, i thought hastu and shinogu did do it. But then I read all these posts, and now I don't know. Aihara sensei probably *mean't* for us not to know. That's why we didn't see them having sex whether they did or didn't... It'll probably be revealed later.

Thank you, OP, for the translation. And...

AHHH! What a chapter! I was losing interest after the breakup but this brought me back. I don't think Hatsumi did it with Shinogu, cuz it's just too extreme an act for this manga (though she did take a shower and her behavior with Akane just screams post-sex guilt). If it really did happen, it would *totally* change the tone of this manga from now on. I mean, that would be really heavy stuff, and this manga has been dramatic, but not exactly heavy. I doubt Aihara would go that route. Ryouki did forgive Hatsumi after she said she'd slept with her brother (Gawd, he basically begged her to come back after she said she'd slept with her brother, poor guy~), but I don't think he really believes she did it, so he's holding on to the hope that her feelings for him stopped her from following through, just like he did with Ruri. But if she really did follow through and he finds out about it, then, oh man, I don't think he'll take her back so easily.

this was a HUGE service to me.. *Shinogu in the shower* I honostly don't think they did it, Shinogu is too much of a nice guy to take advantage... but I am really getting sick and tired of Ryoki- I like him still but he is getting on my nerves with the whole arrogant thing..

oi. that made me happy. thanks for the translation! you did a great job! I think they slept together...the guilty looks, the shower, going into another room...I think they did it. go Hatsumi. go Ryoki for not doing it with Ruri. that would have been unforgivable. I love Ryoki too much for him to do that. >>; what'll happen next? I think that Ryo and Hatsumi will be faced with more issues involving Azusa. he hasn't been around much and I think he might have to come back for a brief appearance.

if they really did sleep together...it'll probably be a while before Ryo and Hatsumi "do it". if not...I think it'll happen in the next chapter--that or get really really close to happening...

I have no idea. I thought you took showers before sex in Japan. Like in Haru yo, koi, they are always going to a love hotel and then taking a shower and then losing their nerve. Maybe Akane came home and interrupted S&H, or maybe they also lost their nerve, or maybe they Did It.
You gotta love the tension.

Ryoki's is not thinking with his balls anymore he's actually using his heart. [Ryoki says what's on his mind. He doesn't know how to express his feelings the right way. However, he is very sweet. Hopefully he can show her the love she deserves. The love I hope he is able to express and throw away his manly PRIDE!]
- After all the times that Hatsumi and Ryoki have been in sticky situations and afterwards end up not doing anything sexual. And then if she really did do anything with Shinogu... out of jealousy... Shinogu probrably got his wished. He always wanted Hatsumi but hopefully he didn't do anything but the last three pages Hatsumi looked really guilty... Yeah i hope Azusa is going to have a huge CoMe BaCk in the next chapter or so! I miss him sooo! HatsuXAzu!! Thank you for the Translation! :D Keep on Smiling!

I just joined the community and found my way to translations and I'm glad to whoever did them.

I for one am glad Ryoki backed out. Personally, I don't think he's be able to live withhimself if he had since he care too much for Hatsumi.I liked how he was always thinking about her. Not Ruri, but her.

And I don't think Hatsumi did anything either. She may look guilty simply because she had thought about it and lied to Ryoki about it. But, she cares to much for Ryoki to do anything. I mean, she showed up on his doorstep again, even after thinking he did it with the other girl. It shows how much she still lves him. And I also don't think Shinogu would take advantage of her like that, especially if he knew her heart wasn't in it. He's not that kind of person...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! THE ENDING OF THIS CHAPTER WAS THE BEST!!!

even tho I am a RABID RyoukixHatsumi fan I LOVED the part where Hatsumi was strippin and Shinogu said he was gonna explode! ahahaha! that was great

all i really have to say is...

ok, i thought ryoki was bad with pulling a move on ruri, but he actuallty stopped it! yay!! i knew you still love hasumi, but wow.. hatsumi, why? never knew you would actually go all the way with your bro O__o how could you? so sudden! now, ryoki is sounding better. his actually saying how much you two are meant for each other! so why did you do it?! ohh hatsumi.. -__-;
