Gnostic Mass Anthem, Horizon and NOTOCON
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year, so far.

I am taking a few moments to mention that this coming Saturday, January 10th, we will be singing the Anthem at the Horizon Oasis celebration of Liber XV, the Gnostic Mass.

Those who would like to come and rehearse with us are welcome to join us at 3pm for some singing practice, while the celebration of the Mass will take place at it's regular time, 6pm.

In addition, copies of an mp3 of the Anthem and the sheet music composed by Frater H.K. are available through links on the NOTOCON website for those members of the O.T.O. throughout the Kingdom of the United Stated and the world at large who will be attending the Mass at NOTOCON and would like to be well rehearsed. This is the same arrangement we'll be using Saturday for those locals who want to brush-up, too.

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who came over on Christmas Day to lend their voices to the recording, and to everyone who joined me before then to get the music recorded. You are all talented artists and generous people who thoughtfully donated your time and energy, and I am most grateful!

Love is the law, love under will.

Musical Celebration of Liber XV on Saturday January 10th
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

    Greetings,

On Saturday January 10th, 2009 at the regular Horizon Oasis celebration of Liber XV, the Gnostic Mass we will be singing the Anthem using the Frater HK arrangement.

If you are interested in practicing with an mp3 or sheet music ahead of time, please email me and I will send you the files.

We will be having a choir rehearsal at the temple from 3pm to 4pm, followed by a break while the mass team rehearses before the 6pm celebration. Feel free to email me if you have questions.

Love is the law, love under will.

    Music for Mass
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

    Greetings!

This is just a reminder that we will be singing the Anthem at Sundays celebration of Liber XV, and that those who wish to practice may join us at the temple between 3 and 4 on Sunday to do so! Mass will be celebrated at 6pm as usual.

I have sent out mp3's of the Anthem for folks to practice with, and I now have the mix we'll be using for Sunday if anyway would like an updated copy.

This copy of the Anthem Music is also available to any Mass team that would like to use it at any time in the future! I can burn CD's on request.

    Special Horizon Movie Night--Chemical Wedding!
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Saturday October 11th, after our regular celebration of Gnostic Mass, members of Horizon Oasis and friends are invited to a special O.T.O. movie night.

Around 7:30 we'll be opening with the classic "Hammer House of Horror" serial entitled "Guardians of the Abyss", an episode that features a chase for the skrying mirror of Dr. John Dee, references to Crowley and Victor Neuberg, and the invocation of Choronzon!

Directly following we'll be enjoying "Chemical Wedding". Written by Bruce Dickenson, vocalist for Iron Maiden, this film is clever, satirical and sadistic. It features a talented cast exploring the mythos of Crowley (as opposed to the historical character) in a fanciful tale of his spirit returning to possess a mild mannered Cambridge professor, turning him into a seductive and violent serial killer, obsessed with performing a chemical wedding.

(In case it's not obvious...not really for kids!)

This is a bring you own popcorn and libation event (please obey all local laws), and I would suggest a good drinking game might be...drink every time you encounter a character named after a historical figure.

Love is the law, love under will.

    Gnostic Mass Music
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

    Hi All,

Sunday the 26th of October at the regularly scheduled Horizon Oasis celebration of the Gnostic Mass (6pm), we will be performing the Anthem of the Mass as it was written by Frater H.K., the Organist of the U.S. Grand Lodge of the O.T.O.

I'll be priest that day, and I am pulling together a choir to sing the anthem. With that in mind, if you are planning to attend that celebration of the Mass and want to sing along then I will try to make it easy for you!

Send me an email, and I will send you an mp3 of the Anthem, and a pdf of the sheet music!

    Isn't that nice?

Thank you to [info]jnanacandra for playing piano on the recording, and Dan and Thea for lending their voices.

If you have contacted me before about singing, don't hesitate to do so again.

Love is the law, love under will.

    Fraternally, Jon

p.s. This is a public celebration of Liber XV. Please feel free to cross post and invite those who might find it interesting:)

Horizon Welcomes Sooj and Vixy & Tony! Friday, Jul 11th 8pm
    93!

Horizon Oasis is pleased to welcome S. J. Tucker and Vixy and Tony for a one night engagement July 11th at 8pm at the
    Horizon Oasis Temple ( 1423 10th Ave, Seattle, Washington 98122 ).

    S. J. Tucker with Betsy Tinney

"Based around the “guitar troubadour” model, Tucker’s work originally featured acoustic guitar, multitracked vocals, and low-key bass guitar and hand drum parts. In concert, Tucker often appears with a hollow-body guitar and a microphone. However, her third album, Sirens, featured backup musicians, a diverse musical approach, and elaborate vocal harmonies. Subsequent releases have favored a world fusion approach over guitar folk arrangements. Stylistically, Tucker has been compared to Ani DiFranco, Fiona Apple, and Joni Mitchell, among other singer-songwriters."

    Vixy and Tony

"Seattle filk duo Vixy & Tony each got into filk separately, he at California filk and general conventions and she at house filks and conventions in Washington. If they'd both stayed home, they might never have met, but, being wandering souls, they met in the middle at Orycon in Portland, Oregon. After a couple of successive Orycons spent listening to one another, they came together by chance in concert at one fateful Baycon in 2005 ("wanna sing with me?" "sure, why not?") and have been performing together ever since."

    Suggested donations are $6 -$16

is encouraged - for your convenience you can register online using the
form below. If space allows we will accept registration at the
    camp-out as well.

important part of our use of the site. By registering for ROTOCamp you
are agreeing to respect this policy.

Our current plans include rituals, masses and outdoor Minervals!

Reminder: Tuesday May 27th, 7pm - Monthy Class: Theatrical Tools of Ritual Drama

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law

On Tuesday, May 27th, Horizon Oasis presents in its monthly class series, "Theatrical Tools of Ritual Drama" presented by Fr. Andrei.

In crafting ritual drama we spend painstaking hours studying god forms, mystical correspondences, arcane languages, and symbolic representations. Our tool set must not stop there for that is only half the equation. The use of text, performance, environment, and participation of those assembled all come from an art form that is as old as communication itself: theatre. In this class we will examine the tools of the theatre world and how they can be employed in conjunction with Ritual to raise and compliment our magickal work.

This class starts at 7pm at the Horizon Oasis Temple at 1423 10th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122

The class is open to ANYONE. You do not need to be OTO, Pagan, Theatrical, .... Breathing is preferred.

No preparation is necessary. Donations to Horizon Oasis are welcome.

    Mystics, Mothers, and Magicians
    Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Only six months to go before the beginning of our next national O.T.O.
Symposium! Mystics, Mothers, and Magicians: Women and Goddesses of
O.T.O., will be held in Sacramento, California, November 14th through
    16th, 2008.

The focus of this event will be the Divine Feminine itself, on the one
hand, and its manifestation in living women, on the other hand.
Presentation topics on Saturday will include the following:

Babalon and the Beast: The Rise and Fall of Leah Hirsig
Babalon: Unifying the Feminine in the House of Desire
    Kumari: Nepal's Living Goddess
Lady in Red, Lady in Blue: Egyptian Goddesses
Mother of Abominations: Babalon, Matter, and the Art of Loving the
    Monstrous
Seshat: Creating the Temple with the Power of Words
The Venusian View: Lessons of Love Goddesses

On Sunday, we will hear presentations or interviews with eight O.T.O.
women chosen for their outstanding work in different fields of
endeavor, corresponding to the seven Classical planets plus Earth. By
honoring these women and their work, we honor that corresponding part
in ourselves and in our sisters and brothers. We also will have the
opportunity to learn from their triumphs and hardships, as they share
those lessons with us. The eight planets and roles are as follows:

Sphere of Earth and of Mothers
Sphere of Luna and of Priestesses
Sphere of Mercury and of Intellectuals and Artists
Sphere of Venus and of Lovers
Sphere of Sol and of Leaders and Organizers
Sphere of Mars and of Warriors
Sphere of Jupiter and of Healers and Hosts
Sphere of Saturn and of Teachers

In addition, we'll enjoy ritual openings and closings, music and
dancing, several cocktail receptions, and the company of our brothers
    and sisters.

Please visit mysticsmothersmagicians.com for a complete schedule of
events, including the names and bios of our distinguished speakers,
and titles and descriptions of presentations. The website also
contains registration prices and deadlines, a link to the registration
site, links to lodging, and more. Please take a look!

A reminder that there will be a single lecture, on Saturday evening,
that will be open to non-O.T.O. members. We hope that non-members may
benefit from experiencing a little of the energy of a national O.T.O.
event, and perhaps be encouraged to investigate further. Please
invite any potentially interested friends or significant others.

Interested parties, please register as soon as you are able, as an
early head-count simplifies Symposium planning (and in some cases
opens additional opportunities for extra features!).

Horizon Oasis Celebrates a Feast for the Three Days of the Writing of The Book of the Law
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

This year as we celebrate the anniversary of Crowley's reception of the Book of the Law, we will be delving into the rich mystical heritage of our tradition.

It has been our long standing tradition at Horizon, on the anniversary of the reception of each chapter, to gather and read that chapter as a group.

These reading will take place at the Horizon Temple at 7pm, with the first chapter being read this Tuesday April 8th, the second chapter on Wednesday April 9th, and the third on Thursday April 10th.

Liber al vel Legis, (The Book of the Law) chapter 1

Following the reading of the first chapter, those who wish to will be guided on a meditation based on Liber NV. In this meditation we will walk through some of the steps of the working as we identify ourselves with Hadit in order to know Nuit.

Liber al vel Legis, (The Book of the Law) chapter 2

Following the reading of the second chapter, those who wish to will be guided on a meditation based on Liber HAD. In this meditation we will walk through some of the steps of the working as we identify ourselves with Nuit in order to know Hadit.

These two class D rituals represent a major undertaking in the magickal development of a Thelemic Magician. They both originally appeared in The Equinox volume I, number 7 and are said to be for the winners of ordeal x. In the Equinox vol. 1 number 10 it states “The ordeal x is dealt with in private.” These guided meditations are certainly not to be considered a substitute for the more advanced work, but do offer a taste of the deeper mysteries.

Liber al vel Legis, (The Book of the Law) chapter 3

After the reading of the third chapter on April 10th, we will awaken from our inner workings to a more material celebration as Hands of Kali performs the belly-dance tarot. The belly tarot is their unique method of giving the audience a tarot reading, using improvisational bellydance to interpret the cards as they're chosen. This very special presentation utilizes the stunning visual imagery of the tarot of the pomegranates and powerful text from the scarlet foundry tarot.

    Goetia Class part 3
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

Tuesday March 25th you are invited to join us at the Horizon Oasis Temple at 7pm for the 3rd and final Goetia class in our series. Attendance at the first two classes is not required.

The Horizon Oasis Temple is located at 1423 10th Ave Seattle, WA 98122

As this is the “Laboratory Exercise” and we will be conjuring a Demon (by the name of Orobas) there are some suggestions, and two requirements:

    Suggestions:

    1) Bring a black robe. Street cloths are acceptable, but black robes are preferred. (This is not a tyled OTO event. No regalia!)

    2) Bring a sigil for Orobas on the appropriate metal (tin). If you do not have one, paper sigils will be provided, but they are not as cool.

    3) If you are interested in being a scribe, (as opposed to a seer, or operator) you should bring paper and pen.

    4) If this is your first experience with the Goetia, practice with the Bornless Ritual (also called Liber Samekh or the preliminary invocation) is highly recommended.

    5) A donation is always appreciated.

    Requirements:

    1) Please be on time. Once we start the working (probably not until 7:30) the door will be locked. Get there at 7pm or a few minutes before if at all possible.

    2) You must be able to demonstrate either the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram or the star ruby from memory. No exceptions.

I’ll bring the mirror, some candles and incense. We performed a preliminary divination in the last class to select our collective purpose, the entity we are summoning and our operator, which we will review prior to the ritual. We will have time afterward to discuss our results. Feel free to bring juice or wine to share for the conversation afterward.

Horizon Oasis Celebration of the Thelemic Holy Season begins Thursday!
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

The Thelemic New Year begins on the vernal equinox, and is observed yearly as a Feast for the Equinox of the Gods. This is one of the several feasts mentioned in the calendar passages of Liber al vel Legis, chapter II, verse 36-41.

Throughout the Thelemic Holy Season we will be posting meditations on the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot on the Horizon Discussion forum, one for each of the 22 days.

We will be celebrating the opening of the Thelemic Holy Season with an officers installation for Horizon Oasis. This will be followed by a short ceremony called Vespers of Nuit, which acknowledges the divine feminine in our tradition. We will be observing the equinox on Thursday March 20th, with the installation of officers scheduled for 7PM and Vespers of Nuit at 8PM.
The festivities will continue with our regular celebration on Liber XV on Sunday March 23rd at 6pm.
