AboutThis is a discrimination free community with the goals of sharing ideas and projects that help enhance our idea of "home". Whether one lives in an apartment, house, condo, dorm, mobile home or any other dwelling, it is uniquely personal and honorable.
What will not be tolerated is: Stereotyping or making hostile remarks to a group such as-- my wife (or insert word) is such a typical woman (or insert term) and because her idea of homey means a total pink house, I feel repressed and overtly feminized.
Instead say My wife (or insert term) and I can't agree on the colors to paint the house. She prefers pink and bright yellow, whereas I prefer to go with earth tones of grey/brown. --This statement reflects the interpersonal difference and doesnt infuriate other people (male or female) who do happen to prefer (or not prefer) pink as a color.
Another inflammatory statement would be:
Men have no fashion sense of any type. If it were up to him the house would be dark panel and orange shag carpet.
The proper response is my husband sense of style is dark panel and shag carpet.
Other intolerable actions-- This is not a display of wealth or showing off your recently purchased 500k home. Think of it as the show Trading Spaces and how to design/implement and complete projects within a specified budget and skill level.
Absolutely no racism, sexism, homophobia, eliteism will be tolerated.
This is not lifestyles of the rich and famous (or wanna bes) but lifestyles of the roll up your sleeves and sweat your projects to the finish line.
Pictures/longer projects should use the LJ cuttags. Refer to the help section for more information. Long explanations or pictures will make the pages load much slower so please be mindful of this.
Please title your posts for it will be easier for someone to search through the calender archives for previously posted topics and responses.
