holiday_wishes is now officially closed. This means that we will not be accepting any more wishlists until November. However, this does not mean we will be deleting this year's wishlists or closing the community. So for those of you who would like to play Christmas Elf all year long, you're more than welcome to come back and look for wishes to grant at any time! For those of you who have already promised gifts but have not sent them, though, it would be considerate of you to send that gift as soon as you can or let your giftee know about any delay.

There will only be a few entries being posted to the community between now and November from the mods, mostly relating to feedback questions or rules we'd like you to vote on, so it's your choice whether to keep us on your friends lists. Speaking of feedback, a post will be going up shortly so you guys can let us know how you think this year went. We'd really appreciate it if you would respond to it!

Aaaaand sneaking in just under the deadline. XD

1. Are there other fishkeepers on this list who have live plant cuttings they could send me? I would really appreciate it, and so would my bettas Tiamat and Grendel. Plant requirements: floating, low/medium light, generally harder. I just have Flourish Excel but would be willing to buy more in-water fertilizers as long as they are invert-safe.

2. On a similar note, gift certificates to drsfostersmith.com to help me take care of my wet pets would be *fantabulous*. Sadly, Petsmart and Petco don't often have the things I really need to take care of my bettas; they would rather sell tiny little death-bowls.

3. I really love imps/samples from Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs, but rarely have the chance to participate in swaps because people tend to have a very specific wishlist and I have like three imps I can send out. So, um, if anyone has some extras they want to dump on me? (I'm planning on going through the tags and offering my three imps to the other people who've requested BPAL stuff, but if someone fulfills this wish for me before anyone takes me up on an offer, I am totally willing to trade. If that sentence made any sense at all, heh.)

4. Beading and jewelry-making supplies. This is the year I'm looking to set up my jewelry shop online - I'm not looking to actively make money, but supporting the hobby would be nice, eh? - and new pretties are encouraging and jog my creativity :). I like working with a bit of everything, really - glass and crystal, chain mail, kumihimo, found objects - so if anyone has any stuff in their crafts stash they're not using, drop me a line! I'd be happy, too, to do a bead exchange, since I do have some things I have too much of.

5. On that note, I would really appreciate gift certificates to sciplus.com (American Science and Surplus, which has a crafts section). They have a lot of random supplies I've been saving up for a chance to get.

6. I'm looking for websites - or worst comes to worst, books I am likely to find at my local library - explaining how to put make-up on, and secondarily how to choose good make-up based on one's complexion, personal tastes in make-up heaviness, etc. Most of the sites I've found assume one already knows something about cosmetics, and I, uh ... know how to put on lipstick? Okay, and I can *fudge* concealer and a bit of eyeshadow, but I think I'm doing it wrong, and I don't have anyone who can show me how in person. I don't wear make-up that often, but I'd like to do it right and have the knowledge to play around a little when I feel like using it. Help!

7. I'm getting into sewing and making clothes this year, and because I am the geeky type, I'm looking for (non-movie!) Spider-Man sheets to make into a hoodie. Yes, I'm a dork. The local thrift stories are not helping me here, and I was wondering whether maybe anyone here had some they weren't using any more.

8. I love squished pennies. (You know, those little machines where you pay 50 cents, put in a penny and turn a little knob and it squashes the penny into an oval with an impression of whatever.) So, you know, if any of you work at a zoo/museum/store or live near one and have the chance and 50 cents to spare ... I'd love a squished penny from where you live!

(Er, is there a better name for them than "squished penny"?)

9. Take care of yourself! Originally this was going to be a charity wish, but then like five people posted the same one, and I've been noticing a lot of my friends have been having trouble remembering this while working themselves into the ground for people who don't appreciate them as much as they should. You're important too. <3

This seemed like a cool thread, so I joined!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, or other holidays you celebrate.

Unfortunately, I wasn't spoiled this year because my parents had bill problems.
Like 2,600$ to pay in 1-2 months for just one company! x_x;

So...

I'm here to look through everyones' wishlist and I hope to make atleast one person's wish come true.

Oh, and on a positive note! I did manage to find these awesome earrings on sale at Kohl's, so I bought them for my mom, even though we were broke :)
I got gift cards and I spent them all on her, and she was very surprised ^_~

Here's my holiday wishlist:

1. Make up! [MAC***, Sephora, Chanel, ULTA, Hard candy, stila, etc]

2. Gift cards :) [IKEA, MAC, Sephora, Best Buy, Borders, &pretty much anywhere else]

3. Japanese/or other asian brands [cute stationary things. stickers, memo pads, pens, plushes, etc. Think sanrio, san-x, crux, kamio, etc..]

4. Manga [I really like anything.. but i'm interested in the more girly type if that makes sense.]

5. Any surprises would make me so happy..

6. My goal this year is to lose a lot of weight. So anything that has to do with exercising, I'd love it! I'm not going to ask for some $$293487 machine. But anything that will help me would be so appreciated. Like those cords that stretch or whatever, and I could use some weights. But I don't want you to pay tons of money in shipping.

7. Just giving this a shot, but I've been watching diet and exercising things on the TV lately, and I really want a Leg Magic machine. I don't know how much they cost or where I can get one, but I'm really hoping that I could get one this year.

First, a quick note: The last date for posting wishlists is January 15th. So you still have time to get them in, even though Christmas is over! Also, around the 15th, we'll be posting a few feedback posts or polls so you can let us know how you thought this year went and if you have any suggestions for next year. Okay, wow! Somehow I totally missed this comm. But I put up my wishlist, as per the rules instructed on the comm info page, weeks ago.

Holiday Wishlist

1. Petrelli fic from Heroes! Particularly wee Petrellis fic. I LOVE the pre-series fic when they're kids something a lot.

2. ~~A ticket to see Adrian Pasdar's play, Atlanta, again~~ (made possible by brokenbacktango! *dance*)

3. I want my uncle to get over himself and make amends with my mom.

4. A ticket to the San Diego Comic Con.

5. A job that challenges me, allows me to be on my game for the Company (whatever company that is I'll be working for, not actually the OWI *L*), and has me grow as a person. And, have the salary be of the range I'm looking for (2500-3300 a month). My BA is in Creative Writing, but I am very good at helping other people. Before my contract ended, I was a writing tutor for three years. Previously, I've done editing work on articles (unpaid work, but it was lots of fun!) I love talking with people, helping them find new things about themselves that they didn't know existed. I also love helping people find good things about themselves and showing the good to other people. I have some experience assisting actors at conventions and some publicity work for David Hewlett's movie, A Dog's Breakfast (I was part of a group of people in LA who were putting up posters for the movie and got interviewed on the NBC channel 4's news).

6. The WGA to make an agreement and the strike to end. To help this, there's a pencil donation drive happening that sounds really cool! Battlestar Galactica and Smallville are giving raffle tickets for each box of pencils you donate when you put either show in the space that asks you what show you're representing.

7. Series 1 and 2 of Mysterious Ways on DVD

8. Heroes headers or icons. Preferably Petrellis, but also like Bennet, Claire, Claude, or cast, too.

My 2007 Holiday Wish List!

Hey! Hope everyone's holiday season has been filled with love and good wishes!! Here is my list :)

1. Any Christina Aguilera Cover Magazines or Magazine Clippings - I am IN LOVE with Christina, but I never buy any magazines cuz I really cant afford to buy any magazine I see with Christina (despite the huge urge I have) so if you have any old magazines (no matter how old, even from 2000!) and you see her in them, it would be awesome if you could cut it out and send it to me. Also, any other Christina stuff you might that you're not interested in keeping, I'd love to have.

2. Buttons/Pins - I have always loved cool buttons and pins, but I can't find them anywhere! I have like three of my own, and I'm getting kind of tired putting them on like every jacket I have haha. So if you have any (preferably smaller) buttons or pins, I'd love them!

3. Vintage/Second Hand Clothes - I know this sounds really wierd, but I love old things! I mean, my like 5 favorite shirts are shirts my dad wore when he was like 20 and they fit me now and theyre awesome. I love thrift shops, and finding neat thigns there...so if you have anything that you don't like and feel like giving it me, dont hesistate :)

4. Stripped Tour Book - I've always asked my parents to get me this book since it came out, but they never got it for me, and its such an awesome book and I was planning to buy it but then they took it off the store! I was so mad, and it was so cheap. If anyone has one or knows where to get one, I'd appreciate it so much! 5. The Simple Life Season 1, 3, 4 on DVD - I loooove this show, but I missed like all of them because I can never keep track of shows, and I really wanted to see them on DVD. I got the second season on DVD, and it was halarious! I really want to see these other seasons since I was able to catch basically 3 episodes per season.

6. African Music Mix - I listen to basically every type of music, and I've gotten into everything from pop to old jazz to indie bands, but lately I've been loving the songs of AFRICA! I have a couple stuff from the "Hotel Rwanda" soundtrack, some choruses like the African Children's Choir, and random things, but hopefully someone can get me some authentic African music.

7. Noise-Canceling Headphones - This probably sounds really wierd too, but I really don't like the small ear buds that come with iPods and all that now, and I just really want some huge headphones that are comfortable and cancel out all other noise because I like to just get wrapped up in my music.

8. Gift Certificates - Anytime I don't have to pay for something at a store I'm thankful haha, but I love gift certificates and probably the stores I'd get the most use out of would be Barnes and Noble or Target.

9. Rolling Stones Stuff - Probably my favorite (I'm actually wearing a stones t-shirt right now haha) old-er band, and I'm just obsessed with their attitude. About being the opposite of The Beatles and their artwork and symbols was so awesome. If you have any Rolling Stones clothes or posters, I'd love it!

10. 90's Clothes - This is the last of my crazy list, but I've really been liking the older, louder 90's clothes. Just anything random from NIKE or something. I really like this shirt that M.I.A. wore: http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/4401/miauj5.jpg, something like that big stuff that just yells COLORS!

i know this list is kind of late, but i was kind of annoyed with this community last year. two people talked to me about sending me stuff, and then i never got anything. i had responded to other people's lists, but then people couldn't do the same? it was a little annoying, but i guess thats what the whole giving spirits about :) but it'd be nice to get something this time around hehe happy holidays!

To everyone else - I'm in university and I'm from Singapore. Hi! :)

1. Monty Python DVDs (Copies are good!) Currently all the Monty Python that I am watching is from Youtube, and I love it so much - unfortunately there are stuff that you won't understand unless you watch the whole thing. Copies are good too (I will save up for the original, but I want to watch them sooner).

2. Any books from my Amazon wishlist. I actually honestly believe that the best gift you can give someone is that of knowledge. Unfortunately books are imports here, so they're expensive and I can't afford much. I would love any of the books that are listed on that wishlist, whether they're used or new. (I can't read e-books...)
In short, there's Vonnegut, Palahniuk, Russian authors, Sartre, Kierkegaard, etc.

3. A newsboy cap, in black or brown. I used to have one, but lost it and I can't find it anymore, I would love to have one once more.

4. A chestbinder. Can't afford one. Doesn't have to be this brand... Used is OK, as long as it's clean. :P

~~5. This "Communist Party" T-shirt with Pinko on the back. I wear size S.~~ (From someone on my Friends' list *flails arms*<3)

6. Soviet kitsch - things like poster/reproduction, Lenin's bust, or anything related to Nikolai Bukharin.

7. A nice cross for my dad. We've been looking for it for ages, but haven't found one that's suitable. They're either for younger people, too expensive, too superfluous, or girly.

8. For my cough to get better, and for everyone to have good health... To be able to enjoy the sunlight and fresh air, and to generally feel better.

I'm into SteamPunk fashion, organic food/agriculture, I like books about economic anthropology and trade/exchange in archaeology, I love Japanese stuff [especially alternative fashion, anime, obento, etc.], I love to write and draw and paint [acrylics are my favorite medium], and my email is archaeo.terra@gmail.com. I do not mind receiving these whenever, even if it's not till July. <3 and I always love new friends!

My List

1. For everyone to eat as many vegetarian or vegan meals as they can this holiday season. Even just one a month makes a huge difference, you’d be surprised! If you can’t manage that, than just look up interesting looking vegan recipes or vegan alternatives to recipes you’re already making, and try those out every once in a while!

2. For everyone to pick up a copy of The China Study.

3. I’m in love with SteamPunk. I’m working on a massive outfit for a con in the spring, and I am desperately seeking a few large [eagle-sized] faux feathers, and I also have a piece that needs to be tailored because I don't have a sewing machine, and it's very complicated. If anyone has experience going to a seamstress or anything for something complicated please give me some tips

4. Anything from my Amazon Wish List.

5. A sewing machine. I know that’s a long shot, but still.

6. Anything vegan-related [in a positive way, no pins that say “for every steak you don’t eat, I’m going to eat three” *rolls eyes*]. Books, pins, music, bumper stickers, posters, movies, magazines, recipes, non-perishable food, gift certificates to Pangea, subscription to VegNews, etc.

7. Little trinkets, such as coins from around the world, interesting rocks and seashells you’ve found, anything historic or Japanese gets you a huge bonus on the karma charts cause I’m an archaeology buff, wooden beads, teacups, broken jewelry or pocket watches, bits of wiring and things that might even look like garbage to you! Absolutely any little thing at all!

8. For everyone to buy any Holiday presents they could from shops from the Animal Rescue Site, the Hunger Site the Rainforest Site, or any of the affiliated sites [the links to the sites are in the community profile, and the links to their stores are on their respective sites]. Especially Fair Trade/Organic items and the Gifts That Give More.

9. Donations to US Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich‘s campaign [it‘d be nice if they were in my name, but I‘m not picky]. You don’t even have to feel guilty if you don’t support him, because it’s for me. <3

10. Never buy pets from pet stores, always rescue. Along the same lines, if it doesn’t go against your beliefs or ultimate dreams, please adopt children. Don’t discriminate against people. Although it is human nature, try harder not to judge. Help people in need in any way you can, be it a stray animal, your struggling neighbor, or a child in Darfur. Make the world a better place in any way you possibly can. There is ALWAYS something you can do, even if it is only a ‘drop in the bucket‘, to change the world. The end.

I've put this off for a month and a half so I should probably go ahead and do it. You wouldn't think someone would put off posting things that other people might be nice enough to get for them, but... well. It makes me anxious. >.>

1. amazon wishlist - (here) It's all Eddie Izzard. There are a couple of other things on there but I'm about to take them off. The only remotely expensive thing on there is a Region 2 DVD which possibly would be cheaper to buy directly from Amazon UK. Used is okay, so is bought from somewhere other than Amazon.

2. tv shows - I never have enough to watch. Recommend me your favorite shows. Feeling spendy? Buy me your favorite shows. Know how to copy DVDs? Burn me your favorite shows. Watch stuff from outside the United States? Especially let me know about your favorite shows. (This is what I already have, everything else is fair game.)

3. music - Mix CDs are cool but mp3s are just as easy. Or just list some tracks and I'll go download them myself. If you have music posted somewhere already, link me.

4. friends - Specifically to chat with (AIM, MSN, whatever). Two things. House/Cameron friends because I ship them to death and have nobody to talk to about it. And Graphics and/or Photoshop friends. Either people who do graphics and would want to discuss techniques, etc., or people who just like to look at graphics and possibly offer feedback. Or not. Just people I can show stuff to when I'm working on something. I sometimes make graphics for my friends, if that helps. :P

5. lj headers - Remember I was talking about being anxious? >.> I haven't completely worked this out. I had this really cool idea about having a lot of different people do headers for my livejournal based on stuff I like and then I can have it rotate once a day. If we have any interests at all in common and you'd be willing to make me a header, leave a comment or e-mail me and I'll explain further. I've been meaning to put up a page with an explanation but I haven't gotten to it yet. :\ You don't have to be a graphics wiz. If you can move things around in Paint then you can probably help me out here.

6. fanfic - If we have any ships in common and you read fanfic, you can recommend to me your favorite fanfic. If you write any of my ships you can completely make my year. But suggestions on fic to read would be more than enough as well. (Here is a reasonable fascimile of a list of my ships.)

7. paid accounts - I have a permanent account. But you can buy my friends paid time. I'm sure they won't mind. They like extra icons too. ;)

8. birthday wishes - My birthday is on the 26th. I'll be 27. Oh my am I getting old. E-mail me or mail me a card or send me an e-card or leave a comment on my lj or send me a message on AIM or MSN or anything at all that says "Happy Birthday!" on Wednesday and you will completely make my day.

That's only 8 but I must post this before I start obsessing over it again. Feels kind of good to just do what's on the top of my head rather than trying to make sure I get the best possible 10 wishes I can. >.>

Alrighty, I am REALLY REALLY late but I just found this community and this is a really nifty idea? :D Kudos to those who made it~ My name is Kortnee but on the internet, I go my Korori. Sooo, here's my list:

1. A. PAID. ACCOUNT. I'm not sure if I can wish for that but I'd love anybody who gives me a paid account.

2. Anime crap. I am madly in love with anime yes lol. If you go to my journal or e-mail me, you can ask/see what anime I'm into.

3. Any absolutley adorable stuffed animals~ I collect them~

4. A pretty colored scarf. I love scarves but I can't seem to find any of mine. D:

1. Book/movie/music recommendations. Anything really, though my favourite genres are fiction, fantasy, non-fiction and historical fiction for books, I really don't like horror movies or thrillers, and as for music I'm more into classic rock.

2. Recipes! Anything exotic, original, but also doable. Something that doesn't require crazy ingredients ;)

3. The soundtrack from the Harry Potter movies (Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Askaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix, I already have Sorcerer's Stone), or the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, or from A Series of Unfortunate Events

My Wish List

I am a 23 year old college student that is going to be a Math and computers teacher.

1. I have been trying to find this card game that is called twenty one. I played it in 6th grade. It had three or four numbers on the card and we were to figure out how to add, subtract, multiply, or divide these numbers to make twenty one. I really like the game but cannot find it anywhere so if you have it I would be interested.

2. I really want to learn how to play the trumpet so if you have a used trumpet that is just collecting dust on the case from lack of opening it. I would love to toot that horn.

3. I am going to be student teaching and I don't really have any pots to cook in and so if you have excess pots that are of medium size that you want to get rid of that would be great.

4. I love games and so if you have any games that you want to get rid of like Tri-Ominos, Mad Gab, Blurt, or other games let me know. Or if you have any ideas of games that I can use in my classroom for Math or Computers let me know.

5. I have a guitar but no guitar stand. Sometimes I wish I could leave it somewhere where I am not going to step on it.

6. I really want you to have a good Christmas and New Years so if I can help with your wish list let me know what it is so that I can take a look. I don't have a lot of money but I do have some pretty good ideas.

Hello everyone! This is going to be my first time posting here...it’s nice to meet you all! I just found this community yesterday, and I know I’m super late, but that’s okay. Snail Mail

– EVERYONE and their mother wants snail mail, and I am no exception. Letters, cards, anything like that. I just love reading letters!

Stationary

– It’s sort of a weird request, I know...but where I live, we have no stationary stores at all. Tons of lined paper of course, but that makes for a boring letter. So, any type is fine! ♥

Anime related

– I love anime. (I’m a dork, shushhh.) Anything anime related would be nice, especially if it has to do with Prince of Tennis. It’s my newest craze, what can I say?

Pens

– I love pens. People collect furnature and vases and stuff like that...but me? I collect pens. I have all sorts, stashed away in my bedroom...and I sort of want to add to the collect. Tame to kooky is fine, I just love them all!

Cute/Kawaii Things

– Have you ever seen Kawaii store in your town? Well, I haven’t. Living on a small island sort of limits what stores you have here, so I’ve never had the chance to buy cute things from there! I’d love anything from a Kawaii store!

Cell Phone Charms/Accessories

– I love hanging little things off my phone, and I’ve been sort of collecting them lately. Like everything else, they’re hard to find here...so I’d like some! Anime, Disney, just regular! Anything is fine! OH! I have a White LG Chocolate, if that helps. XD

Donation

- This might seem a little weird, but I’d like to ask for a donation to a worthy cause. It’s the Children’s Wish Foundation! When I was younger, I had cancer and they granted my wish (to go to Disney World!) and I loved it. I do the parade for them every year, and raise hundreds of dollars for them. I just think it would be nice if they got more donations around Christmas! ♥ You can find the donation online specifically here!

– This is sketchy, I know. But I had a taste of paid time and I fell in love with it. XD

Scarves

– I just got this beautiful trenchcoat like jacket, but it leaves my neck totally exposed! I’d love to get some scarves to make sure my neck doesn’t freeze! Any color is fine! ♥ I especially like stripes!

– I love my new Nintendo Ds Lite (It’s black!) and I’ve been wanting to decorate it, or have a case for it or something. Butttt, as you may have guessed, they’re hard to find here. So if you can find any, I’d really love some. Here are some examples! ♥

This post is a list of things for my one of my best friends. This isn’t a sock puppet sort of gig, I know there was some hubbub about that a bit ago, and I don’t know what happened with that. I hesitate to share her lj name here for fear that someone will post to her accusing her of being a sock puppet for me. I do not want her to find out that I’m doing this: that’s priority number one.

Some back story. She hates Christmas. She always has. She always gets jilted as far as gifts go. When she was younger, her mom focused on gifts for her younger siblings and figured she could deal because she was the oldest. This mentality has lingered in her family. This year, things have blown up… she just had major surgery on her eye to correct a torn retina, her sister just had knee surgery, and her mother has uterine cancer. It’s just been one shit storm after another. I’m sure there’s more than that, but that’s really quite enough for one person.

Anyways, I’ve turned it into my personal mission to make Christmas good for her this year. I love Christmas so much and for so many reasons, and it kills me that she hates it. Although, this is why I love Christmas… I love turning away from my own troubles and focusing on doing something really nice for someone I love.

This is what I’m doing: I’m gathering a care package for her myself. In case she finds this post, I’m not going into detail here.

All I’m asking for others to do for her is virtual gifts. Some cost money, others are free. Please do what you can.

I’m setting up a lj community as a repository for virtual gifts for her that I’ll link her to on Christmas or Christmas Eve. It's birdgirlscanfly. I needed something she wouldn't snoop in, and was listening to Antony and the Johnsons at the time, as if that wasn't obvious.

Icons/LJ banners/Wallpapers:

She loves Doctor Who. Nine is her Doctor. Icons of Nine, or Nine and Rose, with or without quotes from the show would be fab. If you have made something or seen something that fits the bill, you can post it to the gift community for her to find on Christmas.

V for Vendetta. I saw this movie once, and it was good, but I don’t get her obsession. Regardless, she loves V. Some V/Evey icons would be a huge hit. Like seriously. The girl wished me a happy Guy Fawkes day. I mean… wtf?

Phantom of the Opera. She ships Erik/Meg, and let me tell you, after the rp she and I did with them, I’m so down with that ship. Icons featuring the mask, or chandeliers, or Erik or Meg or quotes or “Christine is a *****” themed things… all would be awesome.

Er…. I should know this. Um. Oh oh! Labyrinth. Goblin King/Sara themed. Either/or. Some really swank ones from the dance scene would just… be… freaking hot. xD

Harry Potter! She loves Bella, Voldikins, Snape and Lily. She’s a fan of the Snape/Lily thread introduced in the last book… as am I. So icons featuring them, or Bella, or Voldi, or good ones of the dark mark…

Errr… she also likes Moulin Rouge, Les Mis, Jekyll and Hyde, Sweeney Todd, and other such fun things. Anything featuring these would be verreh nice.

Fanfiction:

For any fandoms listed above. Drabbles, ficlets, anything. If I were you, I’d focus on the Doctor Who, the Phantom, and Snape/Lily, because… well, seems to me those are her faves. But I think some really smashing Goblin King/Sara would knock her socks off. Again, you can post this to the community.

A New Layout:

The layout she has currently is something I altered from a code from premade_ljs. It would be awesome if she had something made especially for her by someone who can actually code. Again, any fandom. Her current one is Doctor Who, from when Nine sends the emergency message in one of the last eps. Something Tardisy, something featuring Rose… maybe with a Tardis topping the sidebar… I dunno. If you write/make/alter/whatever the code, you can post it to the gift community that she'll be linked to on Christmas day.

I don’t think you can give this to her...:

She used to write, but lately she says it’s like all her creativity is gone. I wish she could get her writing back. As a writer, I know there’s nothing to be done in this situation… but, have you ever experienced the same? Stories about how you coped, what you did, how you got your inspiration back would let her know she’s not alone, and that her writing isn’t gone.

2. Gift cards. Old Navy, American Eagle, Amazon, Hastings, Borders, Target, Wal Mart, Airlines, Restaurants. Really anywhere.

3. Old T-Shirts (M-L) I really like dark colors but old, thrift store clothes are cool.

4. Snacks from around the world. I like hard candy, chocolate, sweet and salty. I'm not too picky and will try anything.

Okay so I know I said that I thought I was too late to post, (this is my second year), but hey I loved this so much last year. I'm a 20 year old from a relatively small town in Australia. 2. Any of the books from the Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar. I have really gotten into the show and everyone keeps talking about the books - I realise I am not a teenager, but I am studying to be a teacher so that is my justification!

3. Some book recommendations. I am a bookworm and will read anything, except Science Fiction - I just cannot seem to get into it.

4. A subscription to International Gymnast magazine. I know they are going to post the bumper Jan/Feb issue online but it's not the same I think. Or anything to do with Gymnastics.

Obviously, I'm new :) I found this through my wonderful friend, cookiethief and after browsing through the comm, I decided that I needed to join because it is just too amazing!

my wishlist:
01. cards or letters. I think receiving snail mail, other than bills, is the most wonderful thing!

02. candles. I prefer ones that are scented (sweeter scents like vanilla, apple cinnamon, chocolate, and so on). Tealights, votives, pillar - it doesn't matter!

03. mini Buddha figurines (not too big, since I wouldn't want postage to cost too much). My mom started buying these for me a few years ago and I have fallen in love with their cute, round little bellies and chubby faces full of bliss.

04. dog toys. I have two wonderful dogs (Silas & Lilly) whom I adore and I love buying them toys (especially since Silas doesn't play with them once he's ripped their faces off), but where I live it is nearly impossible to find them anything that is less than $20 (from the vet).

05. Any book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, except Love in the Time of Cholera (since I own that one). It doesn't matter what condition it's in, as long as I can still read it :)

06. Bobby pins/hair pins. I wear my hair up every day and go through these things like CRAZY.

I'm getting in on this a little late this year (it's my second year) but I figure better late than never. I've already had so much fun going through the archives starting on Nov 1st and working my way through all the lists. I read every one last year and plan to do the same this year! I try and grant as many wishes as I can, and since I have a part-time job now, I can spread even more cheer than I did last year.

I'm 29 years old and live in Ohio with my boyfriend and our wonderful son, Collin, who is 14 months old and the absolute joy of my life.

1. Reduce, Reuse, THEN Recycle. Here is a website full of ideas how.

2. Be a conscious consumer. Try and learn where the products you buy are made. And how they are made. And who made them. Do your research and then buy wisely from companies that have the same values and goals as you do. Example: I try and buy from local farms/businesses and I try to buy organic and fair trade food and textiles.

3. Try and change at least one thing in your life to benefit the environment/the earth/future generations. Here is a list of eco/green/environmental things you can do. And if you already do these things...tell me about it!

4. Hair elastics. Just the regular, run of the mill hair elastics to pull back hair into a ponytail. I have long hair and long hair + baby = hair pulling, so I wear my hair up almost all the time. And I think my house has a black hole that sucks in all my hair elastics (as well as pens and lone socks, but that's another story). I prefer the ones without the metal band, but I use any kind I can find.

5. A new sleep mask. Mine is over 4 years old with almost every night use...so it's kinda getting icky. But I love sleeping with slight pressure over my eyes and a new mask like this one or something like it would be lovely.

6. DVD copies (Region 1) of Footballer's Wives, Seasons Four and Five. They aren't available in the USA and I am addicted to this series and have only seen up to Season Three. I would love to be able to finish the series. I cannot do Internet downloads of these. So it would have to be in DVD form. Copies or burned directly from the TV are fine!

7. A specific recipe. I used to have an awesome recipe for these cookies called “Snowball Cookies” They were very simple; just a normal dough with chopped walnuts and then after they are baked they get rolled in powdered sugar while warm. They are in a ball form. Anyways, I lost the recipe and have tried to find it on the Internet, but I cannot find the same one I had. I've tried different versions of these cookies, but they all come out wrong...the cookie falls apart after baking...crumbles when you bite into it. If anyone could send me a tried and true, fail safe version of these I would love you forever.

8. Copies of the UK versions of the Harry Potter books (except Goblet of Fire) I love Harry Potter and re-read my copies over and over…it would be cool to read the UK adult versions.

9. A webcam for a desktop computer that is running Windows 98. My mom really wants a webcam so she can see me and my family as well as my sister and her family. We live only 2 hours away from her, but she's my best friend and it would be so awesome to be able to see her everyday! My father's computer is very old and he refuses to get a new one and has told my mom “there's no webcams out there that will run with this system so you are out of luck.” but I *know* there has to be an old, used webcam out there that no one is using anymore. Or, if you could point me in the direction of where to buy one that runs of Win98 I would appreciate that too!

10. Be safe this holiday season and always designate a driver if you are going to be drinking. This is a gift for both you and everyone else on the roads.

I will be very honest with all of you.
I found out this community last year and I had the pleasure of granting some people's wishes! I just loved it but unfortunatly, this might not happen again this year because I went from a full-time worker to a struggling student... I'll only be able to grant wishes that won't cost money...
However, I decided to post my wishlist anyways, just for fun! Who knows, somebody's trash might be a treasure for someone else! =)
So here it goes :

Hi, my name is Susana and I am an 18 year-old freshman at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA majoring in Music Education. I love the idea of this community; it is heartwarming. I hope that some of my wishes will be granted as I grant some of yours.

1. Apple gift cards – I am trying to record and start my career as a musician and I want to utilize Garage Band as best as I can. There is this USB recorder that I want to clarify my recordings and any small amount can contribute to this.
2. Disney’s Cars on DVD – It’s one of my favorite Pixar movies and it def. cheers me up while I am away at college!
3. Gift cards to Barnes and Noble or Borders – The new college semester is coming up and I need to buy new books.
4. Cute sticky notes – I like to make lists. Lots of them. I also like the stick them around my laptop and drive my roommates insane.
5. Good jazz music with insane bass players - I play bass. I like to learn from those who are more experienced.
6. Gift cards to Target – I’m saving up to buy a new digital camera.
7. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on DVD – It has my favorite Disney princess: Belle! :D
8. A recommendation to a shoe store that has big shoe sizes – I have big feet; size 11. I never find shoes. Tragic.
