So. It struck me some of you may not know what goes on about here!

Well, I'm sure you've all figured out that we compete for the house cup here at hogwartsishome, just like they do in the books. Except a year is a very long time to compete for one thing, especially when so many people come and go in that time, so we run on a School Year of 4 months, which we call a 'Term'.

At the end of each month you'll see totals saying how far each house has come points wise, you get knuts deposited and there's an activity list posted. If you're not on at least one of those lists each term then you're at risk of getting cut from the comm, but that's ok, if you come back we'll let you straight back in!

Anyway, at the end of the four months a lot of other things happen!

1. Officials Icons
You may have noticed all the officials have snazzy matching icons? Well these are the results of a contest held at the end of each term. Most officials are better than me at using them, but they're supposed to give you a heads up when you're dealing with someone 'official' or a member is acting in their modly roles.

2. Officials!
At the end of every four month, all officials with the exception of the main mods, have to reapply for their mod positions. The applications are open to everyone and if we get more than the required number of applicants for a role, we open voting to the community as a whole. This is so one officials don't get stale, or lazy XD It makes them think up new ideas to win you all over in the applications! To be an official you need to have been here for at least two months.

3. Layout Contest
When a house wins the house cup in the books, Dumbledore decks out the Great Hall in the colours of their houses, and that's exactly what we do! When we know who the winner is we hold a layout contest for someone to come up with a layout for hogwartsishome in the colours of the winning house!

4. Phew, what else??
I don't think there's anything else! You probably all know about the end of month things, but if there's anything unclear, feel free to come and ask me, your prefects, your housemates, anyone! We're all happy to answer any sensible questions you might have :)

Officials Icontest & Officials applications will go up soon. We've got a small announcement before the officials applications go up this time that I'm just trying to confirm a few things for.

I hate to report but our notification system has gone offline due to code related problems. We have our engineers working as quickly as possible to remedy the situation. At this point we are queuing up all of the notifications to be sent out as soon as a fix is implemented. Thanks

It's like Mafia Wars and those other apps where you have to do tasks and get people to join your "order." You can chose to be a dark haired boy (Harry?) red haired boy (Ron?) or a dark curly haired girl (Hermione?) in the beginning and then you get to go do all these quests and duels and such.

It's not actually my Deathday, as some of you may know, but I have been putting together an excellent party in celebration of the upcoming holiday season, and everyone comes to associate my parties with my Deathday since that is when I most often hold them. Many Hogwarts students and staff have already received their invitations, so you may see some familiar faces among the crowd.

I hear it is a holiday weekend across the pond, so maybe we have some witches and wizards from America visiting. You are welcome as well!

Happy Thanksgiving to all the American HiH-ers who celebrate it! I'm thankful for all of you and for our international community too. I'm ready to stuff myself with food then hit the gym tomorrow.

For anyone not sure, this means that weekly things, like sorting, Hicons, etc, end on the previous sunday, as the HiH week ends on a Sunday.

Make sure you've got all the activities that you need in the system before the day you're going to submit them.

Also, I tend not to approve activities for the following month until that month is closer because of my filter settings. I'll start looking at them in a few days.

I thought that everyone should know that my dear friend thenecessities passed away on November 12th. She was hit by a drunk driver and died in the hospital. She was such a sweet person and I know that she loved this community. I will miss her so much and hope you all set aside a moment of silence for her and think of her family.

RIP Brittany. You will be missed, sweetie. ♥

Btw, any officials want their activities auto-generated? They have to occur regularly, and have nothing that needs approval, so WB/SQ/etc are out because of the prompts, but I'm sure there are a few out there.

Only the above named two people have voted on the current batch over at hih_animagus. Since there are five apps up, and we recently upped the knuts from 1 to 3 per app, we're talking about every single person in this community having the opportunity to score 50 points/15 knuts, for half an hour's work. And it's FUN work! And all Registered Animagi get an extra 10 points! That's more than you'd get for placing first in a contest, guys!

I'm sorry to have to say this, but I've finally have enough, I'm leaving the community. I'd like to say it was fun, but...









Just kidding! But flounce/leaving posts in the main community and the officials comm are now pretty much forbidden. If you're the mod of a community you can have one non-flouncy post in the comm you run, and if you really really really really must, a good-bye and farewell post in your common room.

Nothing over here. Unless you're me or Steph, at which point this is our community.

Animagus Voting ends tomorrow night at 10 PM UTC (5 PM CDT). Given the poor turnout last batch, it would be awesome if we could get some last-minute votes and give the applicants some exciting choices! Since there are four applications, you have the chance to earn forty points and 12 knuts - it's the equivalent of placing second in a contest, and every single person in your house can earn it! You do not need to be a Registered Animagus, or even a member of the community, to vote!

So far we have 5 lions, 3 badgers, 2 eagles and 2 snakes. This makes me a sad fox. Go get voting! Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, you usually have a much better turnout than this.
