How about a short remix challenge for Valentine's Day? Nothing fancy, just a card under the door, a box of candy on the pillow, a quickie in the afternoon.
Or, if Valentine's Day makes your teeth hurt from clenching and your eyes tired from rolling, maybe a whack upside the head, a squirting-water flower, and a quickie in the basement.
Sweet or Sour, your choice.
It's a short deadline, so anything from a drabble on up to whatever the muse gives you. The original doesn't have to be a Valentine's story, and you can remix all or just part of a story.

If you've recently received an email stating that you've been removed from the community, do not get upset. There still seems to be some confusion about becoming a member versus friending the community. Anyone can access the community to read the stories. If you *friend* the community, you have posting privileges. And we encourage all of you to join in and post your comments and give feedback on the remixes. We would also like your ideas regarding upcoming challenges and anything you would like to see.
However, membership to the community is for authors *only* who would like to join in and do remixes, themselves.
If you have been removed in error, please give me a holler. Just remember, in order to join in as an author, you must have at least 3 stories of your own, on a website that is accessible to everyone in the community (members and friends).

I try and watch the friends list and add you to the tes_fic community as soon as I can. However, as the list gets longer, it's becoming more difficult to figure out who is new and who needs to be added. Mea Culpa, before I ask anyone else -- mine's late again. I'm working on it (grovels to amand_r) and I swear I'll get it in. I'm bad. I should be beaten with a stick.

Six people have posted stories, of fourteen people assigned. Three of us have admitted our feet of clay and have promised ours as soon as we can: myself, merriman, and amand_r. And kamilaa. And beeej.
So you remaining happy five, three what's up? Can we get a a promise or a status report (or, best of all, a story)?
We're doing this for fun, but it's not good to disappoint people in the mix. Also, people who do work so hard to meet a deadline and deliver a story should have some high ground from which to lord it over those of us who fail. Ergo, new policy: From now on, if you've defaulted on a challenge story (beginning with this Trick or Treat challenge), you won't be included in future challenges until you post a remix, either the one you were assigned or a free-range one.
