Right now, we’d like any comments from you about what you’d like to see, how much time you’d like to write and any other ideas about how to make this work. We’ll be starting signups in February, and we hope we can count on you all to take part.

Once the current challenge Mortal finishes at midnight EST September 15th, there will be no new challenges until January 2009. Instead we will be trying out the inaugural
In the meantime, we'd like to hear from you all; suggestions as to theme (if any), length of fic, how long you'd like to write it, and any other suggestions to help make this something you want to participate in (while we've both taken part in ficathons, this will be the first one we've hosted, so we need all the help we can get *grin*).
Please leave your comments on this post.
The current challenge Mortal will continue until September 15th, midnight EST. So there's still plenty of time to write a response.
Author:
Characters: Alysse, various from Stargate Atlantis
Summary: Alysse pays a visit to Atlantis, complements of an old friend. After all, the ocean of another planet would be a nice challenge for an Immortal pirate, yes?
( 'Don't know how she thinks she's going to navigate the ship when she's never been here before.' )
So because I'm an idiot, and forgot to post this last week, the current challenges will run an extra week, until August 11th 2008, so there's still plenty of time to post a response to the What if? or Collaboration challenges.
This week's challenge is Mortal.
Not the most original prompt, we admit, but perhaps you can take it in an original direction. Write about the mortals in Highlander, or about the mortal life of one of the Immortals. Or write something we haven't thought of, the possibilities are endless.
As usual the challenge will run for a month and will close on September 1st 2008, midnight EST. Fics of any length are accepted, nay welcomed from 100 words up. Feel free to post anywhere else you desire, we only ask that you post the fic in its entirety or at least links to any further chapters.
The rest of the series is linked in chronological order from here.
I like this prompt so I hope I'll be able to rustle up a proper response before it expires!

Challenge: What If...?
Summary: This is a fic I’ve been meaning to write since I first started writing fanfic, something I’ve mentioned before but never explored properly. I was watching Freefall, and I thought:
Disclaimer: Highlander is the property of Panzer/Davis. Parts of the dialogue are from the respective episodes of Highlander, but no copyright infringement is intended, no profit made. It's all just for fun and love of the show.
A/N: Unbeta'd. Will probably become more, but standalone for now.
The Summer Amnesty is now closed.
To kickstart things around here, there are two challenges beginning this week:
First Challenge: What if...?
Highlander, like life, is full of moments that make you wonder what might have happened if a different path were chosen. What if Tessa hadn't died? What if Darius was still evil? What if Conor had never found Duncan? Let your imagination loose!
Second Challenge: Collaboration
Use the word in whatever sense you think of - a team-up between two characters, a crossover, or even a story about wartime collaboration. It's up to you.
Both these challenges will be running throughout July, closing is at midnight EST on Mon 4th August but if neither prompt tickles your fancy, fear not because we will be posting another challenge in two weeks.
Any prompt suggestions are gratefully received, as always please just comment below with any ideas.
The Summer Amnesty will close at 12 midnight EST Monday 7th July 2008. Two new challenges will be posted after the old challenge closes.
There's still time to contribute, so get writing!

A/N: This is part of a series of stories that I'm calling 'With Friends Like These' you can read the others here if you want. Oh and this story has nothing to do with football.
written as part of the Summer amnesty: prompt = crossovers. In fact, the whole series could be considered as being part of the crossover prompt.

You've still got two weeks to complete fics to answer any of our previous challenges. Don't forget, we've opened it up a bit so fic can be any length at all.
So take ten minutes to knock out a drabble, it'll be fun.
Look forward to reading everyone's contributions :)
So we decided to do an amnesty challenge for the month of June.

The History Challenge will remain open until May 5th. Because my last announcement was incorrect, we are also going to leave the Crossover Challenge open until May 5th too. So that's three choices for the next two weeks. I hope you are are feeling inspired.
****************************************
The new Challenge is Minor Charaters. That includes anyone who has never appeared in the highlander opening credits. While our major characters can appear in the story, it should focus on the supporting player. This includes charaters like Fitz or Darius who have appeared in several episodes or others like Corey Raines or the villian of the week who've only made one appearance.
You have four weeks to post your responses to the new challenge. The History Challenge will close at midnight EST on Monday, May 19th, 2008.
We accept gen, het, slash and crossover. 100 word minimum on story size - so drabbles welcome!
REMEMBER: You can post any challenge until their respective deadlines. The next new challenge will be posted May 5th. As always we are open to suggestions for new prompts. Reply to this post if you have any ideas you want to share

Fandoms: Highlander, Supernatural
Characters: Methos, Dean and Sam (cameos by the other Horsemen)
Prompt: Crossover
Summary: Dean and Sam never expected to be hunting a biker gang. But that’s nothing compared to what they actually find.
Notes: This started out as crack, but it somehow took a left turn into dark and angsty. Ah, well. AU for Highlander.

Fandom: Highlander & SPN The rest of the Immortal!Dean Universe can be found here.
Characters: Methos, Dean Winchester, Duncan MacLeod, Richie Ryan and Sam Winchester.
Disclaimer: The characters you know and love all belong to their respective creators.
Summary: Immortal!Dean universe. Methos meets Dean for the first time and learns the Winchester version of what it means to be Immortal.
A/N: This is a stand alone story but in the Immortal!Dean timeline, this takes place right after Crossroads. It’s just after that first summer that Dean became Immortal and the boys have yet to meet Chloe.

Prompt: Crossovers
Words: 5,000+
Summary: When a man bound to the slow path is the oldest of humankind, it's only natural he should run into a man who can travel anywhere, anywhen.
Fandoms: Highlander, Doctor Who, smidge of Torchwood
Disclaimer: I own nothing, all characters belong to their respective shows.
A/N: I own nothing, but do cherish my fanon idea that Jack and Jamie are highlander Immortals found and taught by Methos, Matthew McCormick, and Connor MacLeod, respectively. And that Ten and Martha stayed with the Chestertons during Blink.
(This cut, she is fake.) <- If this link doesn't work, I don't know why.
Archived at the Highlander Fiction Archive and A Teaspoon & An Open Mind.
The Crossover Challenge will remain open until April 21st

The new Challenge is History. Every Highlander epsiode comes complete with a wonderful historical flashback. Our Immortals have lived long and colorful lives. So, let's tell those stories that take place long before the series started. Stories set in the present that include a flashback are also acceptable.
