Right now, we’d like any comments from you about what you’d like to see, how much time you’d like to write and any other ideas about how to make this work. We’ll be starting signups in February, and we hope we can count on you all to take part.

..in case you hadn't noticed, it's time for Secret Santa over at hlh_shortcuts again, so if you write Highlander and you haven't signed up yet, get your arse over there now! Hopefully it will be as successful as last years (when strangevisitor7 wrote me the awesome Take the Peanut from my Hand which kicked off our Watcher!Abby series.)

Once the current challenge Mortal finishes at midnight EST September 15th, there will be no new challenges until January 2009. Instead we will be trying out the inaugural 

hl_flashficficathon!

In the meantime, we'd like to hear from you all; suggestions as to theme (if any), length of fic, how long you'd like to write it, and any other suggestions to help make this something you want to participate in (while we've both taken part in ficathons, this will be the first one we've hosted, so we need all the help we can get *grin*).

 Hey folks, new challenge time!

So because I'm an idiot, and forgot to post this last week, the current challenges will run an extra week, until August 11th 2008, so there's still plenty of time to post a response to the What if? or Collaboration challenges.

This week's challenge is Mortal.

Not the most original prompt, we admit, but perhaps you can take it in an original direction. Write about the mortals in Highlander, or about the mortal life of one of the Immortals. Or write something we haven't thought of, the possibilities are endless.

As usual the challenge will run for a month and will close on September 1st 2008, midnight EST. Fics of any length are accepted, nay welcomed from 100 words up. Feel free to post anywhere else you desire, we only ask that you post the fic in its entirety or at least links to any further chapters.

It's not exactly a fic response, and it's certainly not flashfic but I thought I'd link to my Highlander/Torchwood crossover epic The Mystery We Are as the whole damn story (and the rest of the Torchwood part of this universe) came about because of me asking myself 'What if Torchwood discovered immortals?'. The rest of the series is more character driven, but that question was the main focus for this fic so I think it's appropriate to link it as a 'What if?' story.

 Hey, I've been busy for the past weeks. But now I'm ready to back on the keyboard again continuing my series of SPN, SV, Highlander and The Crow crossover, Warbound. Also I'm starting to work on answering a couple challenges to the site Twisting the Hellmouth involving Halloween and two my favorite comic book heroes, Captain America and The Punisher. The History Challenge will remain open until May 5th.  Because my last announcement was incorrect, we are also going to leave the Crossover Challenge open until May 5th too. So that's three choices for the next two weeks. I hope you are are feeling inspired.

The new Challenge is Minor Charaters.  That includes anyone who has never appeared in the highlander opening credits.  While our major characters can appear in the story, it should focus on the supporting player. This includes charaters like Fitz or Darius who have appeared in several episodes or others like Corey Raines or the villian of the week who've only made one appearance. 

You have four weeks to post your responses to the new challenge. The History Challenge will close at midnight EST on Monday, May 19th, 2008.

We accept gen, het, slash and crossover.  100 word minimum on story size - so drabbles welcome!
