Name:History Students
About:This community brings together students of (or those interested in) history. Members may post interesting articles or essays, ask questions about research, discuss colleges, discuss current research, and the like.

This is not a homework help board. Questions relating to homework should be directed to one of the LJ Communities founded for that purpose. Posts requesting help on homework will be summarily deleted. Repeated posts of this sort will result in a ban.

You may ask for guidance and assistance with the general thrust of a thesis paper or a research project, or the form of such a project. Do not expect members of this community to do your work for you.

Discourse between members is expected to be civil and courteous. Failure to treat others courteously will result in a ban. Emotional arguments are acceptable--abusive interchanges, however limited, are not.

Examples of acceptable questions:
1. Could someone suggest some research sources for a paper I am writing on Russian politics in the early 20th century?
2. Here is my thesis paragraph. Do you believe it is too narrow or too broad? What suggestions can you offer?
3. My professor requests I use Chicago Style for my bibliography, but I am finding it difficult to quote a particular source. In what way should I proceed?
4. I am considering graduate studies focusing in British medieval history. What universities have a good program?
5. I will soon be attending DeFault University to study early Asian History. Has anyone attended DeFault U., and does anyone have opinions on their History department or professors?

Examples of unacceptable questions: (And the reasons they are unacceptable)
1. Could someone please help me write my paper about the ERA? (Do not ask us to write your papers for you.)
2. In what year did the Battle of Trafalgar take place? (Do not ask us questions which are obviously part of your homework.)
3. Can you please help me with my rewrite? (Do not ask us to help re-write your papers for you, either.)
4. Here is the paper I wrote for class tomorrow. Will someone proofread it for me? (Do not ask us to proofread your papers for you.)
5. yo lol u guyz r sux0rz roflol!!!111one (Do not post if you do not have a brain.)

That said, happy posting! :)
