A short story to tell about Peter Wingfield
In 1998 I attended the Highlander the Gathering event in Anaheim California.
It was just as the show was cancelled, and being so close to LA I had a feeling a lot of the shows cast would attend.
I could go on and on about having great conversations with Alexandra Vandernoot, Stan Kirch and what a once in a lifetime experience it was to listen to Jim Byrnes and Roger Daltry singing blues in an intimate setting while we all danced on the stage.
BUT!
Every time I see one of you guys post something about Peter Wingfield, I’m always reminded of an incident I had with him at the event.
Coming down in the elevator, I reached the first floor. And as the door opens, who's standing there waiting to get on and taking up the entire doorway than Peter Wingfield, looking all the world as Methos in his peacoat. He's looking straight ahead… but here's the thing. He'd kept on his jet black "you can't see my eyes" sunglasses in what I could only assume was an effort to go incognito.
As I walked out, I couldn't help but snicker.
"I don't think that's going to do you much good here, Mr. Wingfield," I said as I passed him.
He didn't say a thing, but got on the elevator and on his way.

Knowing Pete, he was probably hungover and suffering, especially if JB was there as well. Those two love a drink or three when they get together.

Quite frankly, I personally would never intrude on an actors privacy when they are making it clear with their body language, demeneor, or yes, a certain kind of sunglasses, that they want to be left alone, and are in no mood for chit chat. If you caught me in a moment like that, depending on my mood, I would have hopefully just ignored you like PW did- worst case scenario, I would have probably told you to get lost. Even charm has its limits during our off moments.

Peter and the Hangover. The return.

A considerably more poised story then my infamous 'running away from the elevator and the guests' story from HLDU5!

It's really funny, because I've been *so* shy around them. But this time (in Vancouver), I don't know. I just wasn't. I had no problem blurting out the question about the new HL movie on the bus. Or talking to Peter when he came to our table before Jim's concert. Or blurting out and talking to him during the auction. It was fun. Don't know who it surprised more -- me or Peter *g*
