Where: JJ's Bistro & French Pastry, 3447 Waialae Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816 [map]

Theme: Geometric (think shapes and lines; polka dots, gingham, tartan, stripes, etc.)

As always lolita is optional, theme is optional, and guests are welcome.

If the 10th isn't good for most people, just let me know. There is an option of switching it to Saturday if necessary.

Parking is in a little lot behind the area where JJ's is located. It's small, but there's usually street parking if the lot is full.

Also, an update on parking. Fosters has its own parking lot and it's free. :D The entrance is on Vineyard on the right side after the large Chinese temple. There should be a sign that will indicate where the entrance is.

Maybe if it's not too far, we can leave our cars there and walk over to Cultural Plaza. Or we'll use just a few cars to transport everyone over if everyone is tired of walking. ^^;

Sorry for the delay in announcing the date, but the July meetup will be on the 20th. If there are too many conflicts with this date because I announced it too late, we can move it to the 27th, but if possible, I'd like to keep it on this day to space out the activities in July and August.

Locations: Foster Botanical Garden, 50 North Vineyard Boulevard, Honolulu, Hawaii 96817 [map]

Time: approximately 9 AM at Foster Botanical Garden, dim sum time is not known as it depends on how long we stay in the garden. At the latest, we'll meet at 1 PM in front of Empress.
Parking: Cost varies depending on which municipal parking garage. Here's a map. The website also provides a PDF copy if you need to print it out. There is also parking in the Cultural Plaza but that may get pricy. There's also street parking in the area if you can find it.
Cost: The garden is $3 for the kama'aina with id, $5 regular admission. Dim sum will be dutch or you can choose to split the bill with a few people, it's up to you. But basically, if you order it, it's yours and will come out of your wallet. Unless you feel like sharing. ;P

First off, thanks to everyone that could make it out this weekend! We haven't had that large of a group in awhile, so it was awesome to see all of you come out and join us. ^_^

Our next meetup was originally supposed to be a potluck picnic, but after spending the better part of Saturday afternoon experiencing the humid weather, a few of us agreed someplace with A/C might be a better option. Especially since we'll be walking around in the sun. ^^;

So here's the tentative revised plan, we'll meet at Foster Botanical Garden at 9ish. It opens at 9 but since everyone runs on Hawaiian time...especially me. xD Admission is $5, but the kama'aina rate is $3. We'll explore and take pictures until everyone's tired of walking and being in the sun and then go to the Cultural Plaza for dim sum. Most likely we'll go to Empress because it's well-priced and can accomodate a larger group without a long wait (if any).

At the moment I'm not sure of the parking situation as I've never been there myself. If anyone knows, please let me know. Right now, the only thing I can think of is municipal parking lots in Chinatown and I know those fill up quickly on the weekends. Carpooling is recommended.

I am looking at a Sunday to do this since the last activity was a Saturday. Either July 6, 20 or 27. You are welcome to join us for just part of the day as well, just be sure when responding to let me know which part you're attending so I know when we can head into the garden and how many seats to request when we get to Empress. Although it's a little early yet, you can wait to RSVP when the plans are finalized. ^^;

The theme for July is florals. As always, the theme is for fun and not required. You can wear a flower behind your ear or in your hair if you want to fulfill the theme. :P Lolita is also not required to attend. Meetups are more about hanging out together, wearing lolita is just a bonus. I would say dress appropriately for the activity as it will likely be a hot, humid day in the middle of summer. Parasols/umbrellas and fans are recommended. ^^;

Loliday - June 7th

Just a heads up, Loliday is coming up next week Saturday, June 7th. It'll be a small outing in Waikiki. It's become a minor tradition to go to karaoke for Loliday since we enjoyed it so much before, and since it's sort of last minute, I'm going with it again. ^^;

A reminder, Lolidays are the only days I require all attendees to make an effort to come dressed in lolita or like attire. Please don't let this or a lack of brand name clothing be the reason you're not attending. We all understand that everyone has to start somewhere. If you don't have loli clothes yet, at least dress up for the occasion. ^_^

We will meet at King's Village at ~4:00 PM and wander around/take pictures for an hour or so and then it'll be karaoke at GS Studios at 5:00 PM. If you want to come to karaoke only, meet us at GS at 5.

Angel has tentatively said she is available that day to be our photographer.

Please bring at least $20 to cover the cost of karaoke. It should run ~$15 per person with tax and tip, but a few extra dollars wouldn't hurt. ^^; I'm not sure if we'll be doing the flatrate special or the VIP room rate of $35/hr until I know how much people are attending.

Up for DS is this cute and casual Meta dress, fully lined, pinkxoff white with flower buttons, $70. Worn only twice! In perfect condition, except there is a little yellowing on the INSIDE of the cuffs of the sleeves, so it is not visible when worn. I have not attempted to eradicate the yellowing at home, because I wouldn't want to ruin the off-white color of the cuffs. I'm sure soaking/dry cleaning would probably get rid of it though.

Hi everyone! My name is Janis (pinksugarichigo)! I've known about this community for quite awhile but didn't get the courage to post until finally attending the Kawaii Kon with my friend Chieko (who's also a member of this community). Anyway, I was able to watch the lolita fashion show and thought it was amazing and inspiring!! (n_n) I've been an admirer of the lolita style (preferably sweet lolita) for quite some time but it was only upon watching Kamikaze Girls and also seeing the lolita fashion show that it really sparked my interest.

I also love other styles such as gyaru, himekaji & himegyaru because I love girly, pretty, flowerly and lacey things (probably why I like sweet lolita also). Other things about me : I'm 25 but I look 18. I love graphic design & I currently work at Sanrio (Charmmy Kitty & Hello Kitty are my fave characters).

Anyway, I hope to make some friends on here and hopefully save money for my first lolita outfit! I don't know much about the exact styles yet, but would like to. I really want to get some of the ones I seen @ the fashion show.

By the way, I took pictures of the fashion show at the Kawaii Kon and they're under the cut if you want to see. I know they're probably not good quality because of where I was sitting, but I thought I would share anyway. Please introduce yourself if you're in the pic, it would be nice to match a face with your lj. Hehe.

Yet another magazine for sell! I found this one while I was trying to find things to scan for one of my art classes.... >_>

This is the spring 2007 edition, volume 5. To be specific, the dates on the spine of the book say it's April 25th, 2007. Condition is like new and faintly smells like Japan. That's how 'much' I went through this magazine. Comes with a 2007 Putumayo calendar along with Putumayo stickers. It's basically a catalogue, with very little modeling inside. There's even listings of some lesser known brands. There's a section with pictures from Laforet Feb. 07 fashion show.

Selling for $10; original price was about $16. I'd like to meet up to save on shipping for the both of us.

I'm wondering if people would be interested in this. I'll be in Japan for the last week of March. I'm offering to buy people magazines with a service fee of just $2 per magazine. I'll only buy magazines that you specifically tell me, none of this 'find me whatever is loli/punk/goth/etc.' Because the yen rate has been unsteady, I will have it at 103 unless it goes up before/during the trip.

Payment method will be by Paypal or cash. I'm still new to Paypal and only have a basic account. To save on shipping, we'll meet in person. If anyone wants to wait that long, I'll be attending Kawaii Kon.

We'll meetup at Satura Cakes at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and go from there. The hotel and beach are nearby, so lots of elegent shots as well as greenery shots can be had. Angel will be our photographer this time (and anyone else from 808photos is welcome if they can make it!)

Time: 2:30 PM

I need to have a headcount for this as I'd like to reserve the VIP room for 4 hours. The cost for the weekend is $35/hour, so I'm really hoping to get up to the maximum of 12 people in the room. ^^; If we don't get close enough, I'll make the decision whether to drop it to 3 hours of karaoke or do the flatrate instead to save everyone money.

Please confirm either here or on the KK forums. It's fine if you can only make one of the activities, but I need a confirmation either way, especially for the karaoke portion.
