Welcome to the Harry Potter/Hermione Granger Fic and Art Fest for 2005. The

hphg_ficathon in 2004 was highly successful, but with the advent of new canon, it's time for another round of shippy goodness. This year's name comes from

scribooty's post about what H/Hr has turned out to be - a serendipitous thing.

This year's community will be based on participant requests! Post a short prompt for a fic or piece of art that you'd like to see. Then, when the list is compiled, claim a prompt for yourself - each prompt can be claimed by one writer and one artist. Entries are due by September 30, 2005.

Visit this post and make your request! Please note that requests are not guaranteed a fic or artwork; it's up to someone else to pick your request. Note: requests are now closed.

If you'd like to claim a prompt, visit the claiming post and reply with your choice and whether you're claiming it as fic or art. Please list a second choice as well, just in case, though it will be first come, first served. You may claim a prompt at any time until the due date.

Are there any restrictions on prompts?

Anything within reason will be considered. Prompts in a post-HBP universe are especially welcome. I reserve the right to reject any prompt I, after garnering a second and third opinion, deem inflammatory or hostile. However, these boundaries are both wide and fuzzy. If your prompt is rejected, you will be given a detailed explanation of why, and you are free to make your case or submit another prompt.

Prompts can come in a variety of formats:
- situational prompts: "Harry and Hermione have just defeated Voldemort and are now going out for a celebratory ice cream."
- keyword prompts: "Must include a chicken, portobello mushrooms, Felix Felicis, and the phrase, 'You can't do that on television!'"
- requirement lists/restrictions: "Must have: Luna, supportive!Ron, and a time-turner. Must not be higher than an R rating."
- anything else! (again, subject to review)

Please make your prompts somewhat specific; "H/Hr smut" is not an acceptable suggestion on its own. "H/Hr smut that involves office trysts and feather boas" passes.

Also, prompts should be H/Hr. Obviously. ;-)

Can I choose my own prompt?

Nope. But there's plenty more to choose from!

I'm finished early! Can I post it now?

Go for it - but if it's fic, make sure it's been beta read first. You're welcome to use this community to look for a beta reader.

How should I post it? Is there a specific format?

Yes, indeedy. First, please place entries behind an LJ cut. If you're having trouble with that, contact

zorb for a hand.

How long do fics have to be?

They must be at least five hundred words long, but they can be as long as you'd like to make them.

What if my fic has multiple parts?

Please post your fic all at once - if it's too long for one post, split it up as necessary but make the posts in succession. Don't leave us hanging!

Hey, I already have a fic/artwork that fits this prompt! Can I just link to that?

Nope, at least not in place of your entry. All fics and art must be created for the community. Please refrain from posting them elsewhere until October 31 (though of course, you are free to link to your post on this community).

Are there any content restrictions or requirements?

Yes, and they look very similar to the prompt requirements. In addition to filling the prompt, your fic or artwork must be primarily H/Hr. Have as much plot or angst as you like, but this is the Harry/Hermione Festival, so entries should focused on said pairing. That said, you are free to include all the secondary, tertiary, and quaternary ships that you like.

Also! Let's not use this as an opportunity to be unfair to characters or people who don't deserve it, hm?

Finally, all ratings and genres of fic or art are acceptable, as long as you use appropriate warnings in the introductory template.

HBP upset me. Can I just ignore it?

Well...you could, and label your fic AU. Or you could exercise your creativity and write H/Hr in a post-HBP world. This is a challenge, after all.
