| | Life | ] | 10:18 PM 9/29/08 · Contrary to what you may've gotten from the commercials (who really believes those things anyway?) the 62288 texting number is not only for people with Sprint. I know this because I don't have a Sprint phone or plan and I've been using the thing for about a week now. Mostly it's just reminders and other rnadon stuff but this week was the first time I had it while actually watching Heroes...
...and it was kinda fun.
- As none of this stuff was spoiler worthy:
- The scene from the 1922 Buster Keaton film, Cops, is regarded by many critics as one of the greatest silent·film chase sequences of all time.
- I was asked if I thought Sylar could change his ways and become a hero. I said no and was appalled that only 56%, they hit you back with results quick, of viewers agreed with me.
- That young Nikki shot was an actual shot of Ali Larter from high school, not something digitally altered for the episode.
- Another poll popped up asking about Jesse's father and where did we first hear of him. The other choices didn't seem likely so I guessed Chandra's list and was right. Other two options were Hiro's yarn timeline and HRG's Company files.
- Not surprisingly the paintings of the future are done by Tim Sale, same guy that did Isaac's paintings.
That was all I got...this week anyway.

| | Heroes | ] | 9:41 PM 9/22/08 · Since the very first time the character was introduced, since we first saw Sylar and leanred what it was he did and what he could do originally, I've laughed at this whole "eats the brains thing" because it outright made no sense. His original power was that he could look at a thing, see it from all the angles intuitively, and know virtually instantly how it worked. Not just that but how to improve it...
...which is what makes the brain munching concept ludicrous. Even if that were the case his powers don't in any way allow for him to take on the powers of others. Whatever it was that his power allowed him to learn could probably be done by others if they only knew the process he used.
Any one of the emo·sapiens could get the powers of any of the others, basically.
Then I saw what he did in the season opener of Heroes: Villains.
( So how did he do it? ) Please keep in mind I tend to write these as I'm watching the show. |

| | Law & Order Special Victims | ] | 10:33 PM 7/15/08 · A continued complaint from fans of the books was the the refusal to recast the actors for the movies is that they're progressively looking less and less like the kids they're supposed to be. I mean they've got like 2 more books to go as films not done yet, right? You really going to buy they're still young teens by the time they crank those out?
The reason I mention this is because this thought came to me at the same time friends were discussing the Harry Potter novels. See, in Heroes we've learned that Adam Pierson is immortal. The theory, put forth by Grandma Patrelli, is that healing so many times is what kicked off the retardation in aging and made him stop aging altogether...
...which is interesting seeing as he and Claire have the came power.
This may also be an issue with Peter at some point, though not as sure as it's not his primary ability, but the first thing Claire did when she learned her ability was what it was to keep testing the limits of it. That and the events that followed there where she was dying and coming back to life and healing massively in general probably means she's immortal now too.
Which means she's gonna stay the age she is forever...or until someone pulps her brain as that seems to be what does it. Problem is, depending on how long the series lasts, at some point the actor that plays Claire will no longer look as young as she currently does.
Similar to Babylon 5, Kring had it basically mapped out that the entire Heroes series had a specific beginning and ending. Anyone wanna clue me into when the ending is? How many chapters past "Villains" are there or is this the last one coming up?

I don't have much to say this week...or at least not yet. Maybe later when I rewatch the episode after I download it Saturday. Maybe something else will occur to me sometime between then and now.
A thing outside of a cut and the other thing in.
1) I kinda figured the Writer's Strike had to do with this Season being so short. While Kring supports the Strike it's kinda funny that he managed to finish writing it up, even if he rushed it, before he actually threw his support in. Still, it's more than a little wonky to me that Season 1 was 23 episodes and Season 2 was only 11.
I'm wondering if it would've been as long if not for the strike.

Keep in mind, I've not seen tonight's episode. I'm basing this on the slimmest of facts and I really don't want it to happen. I like Hiro; he's great. Plus, he's the dream made manifest: a geek of multiple fandoms who's wanted to be able to do the kinda things his favorite characters can do and he suddenly develops super powers.
How sweet is that?
Still, I kinda think that in tonight's episode he's going to get killed and I do mean big time.
( while I'm only speculating it is based off a few spoilers )
Anyway, that's my 25¢ opinion on this.
Let's hope I'm wrong. |

9:10 PM 11/26/07 · So I'm watching and typing at the same time again. Big whoop! Don't you judge me...
( Heroes 2x10: Truth & Consequences )
So, the prediction for next week (sneak peek they show at the end of the episode) is that 2 of the emo·sapiens will die; I'm more than a little worried one of them will be Hiro. Sylar gets his powers back from a blood transfusion (guess who's blood?). Nathan will hold a press conference, possibly revealing their existance to the world, and be reunited with Peter. Bennet will get back together with his family. |

I just re·watched Heroes 2x09: Cautionary Tales, but mostly just the highlights as I've been downloading some of the episodes lately, and I don't think it was Bob & Co. that brought Bennet back to life. We've seen their facilities and it seems hardly likely they be using such a crappy location. It's an old beatup room, has the looks and feel of a basement level, with just the barest necessities of equipment in it. Personally, I feel it more likely that Adam somehow got his body and injected his own blood into him...
...but there is the slimmest possibility that's not the case. We have no point of reference, currently, to figure the time of this regeneration. It is possibile that somewhere in that future Peter bounced to, or any point in the future, that someone else brought him back. At best guess, from what wev've been presented with, the only other people that could being Bennet back would be Claire or Peter as they both have that regenerating blood.
Though, I think that unlikely. We don't know for sure how long Bennet was dead but he looked a little too fresh for it to have been too far along. When Peter was dead he went to gray fairly quick but he'd been down a fair amount of time. Granted, the regeneration could've repaired enough of him that he just looked that fresh by the time we saw his eye heal but I don't think so.
Still leaning towards Adam beinging him back, to get another asset in his little war on the Company or whatever agenda it is he's on. I've still got this slim little thought that he may be working with another faction of the Company and klilling off the other powered members may have been nothing more than a coup.
A lot of people have been hoping that somehow Mohinder got ahold of the blood and used ti to bring back Bennet out of the intense guilt he no doubt feels for having killed him. That'd be great but I still think it unlikely...a little guilt might make him more interesting but I jsut can't see how he'd've gotten the blood away from Bob.
Just my 2¢ |

I type almost as much during the show as I do at the commercials...though it's much easier than having to not look down at the keyboardl I type fast but I'm not 100% without seeing the keys.
( this week's pecking order )
During one of the commercials it said something about developing a possible emo·sapien for an online series and I started thinking about one of mine. I tend to interact with any show I watch but rather than use one of my usual alternates I made one more specific to the show. Another empath, or whatever you wanna call someone with Peter's power, and along with him others with powers that were close to where he lived and he first discovered his ability by doing as they did.
There were 4, all based around a community college sorta deal: Shades: typical skinny nerd kinda guy, tends to always smile a tad creepily at the girls like he's thinking dirty thoughts...seemingly far too confidant for how he appears. What no one knows, excepting my alternate, is that this kid has a variation of X·ray vision. Not like a hospital x·ray but rather like peeling back layers so he sees through things in actual normal vision. He wears sunglasses at all times because when his power is active his eyes turn dark gray with slightly glowing white pupils. Carson: if you've seen The Breakfast Club then think of Judd Nelson's character. I had to do one guy with a majorly offensive power. Variation on Cyclops, he shoots concussive beams from his eyes that slightly burn. With a bit of practice he can focus his beams to either just hit hard or burn rather than just a combination of the two. Beth: bit of a poet, head shaved on one side. She can project force shields but only outward from her forearms, like she was wearing an actual shield. Either arm, fields size is dependent on her level of concentration. When she panics, which is fairly often, they're huge. Crawler: Simply put, the kid literally can crawl on any surface that his bare skin is in contact with. Has to take his shoes off to do it, none of that silly Spidey with de booties on thang, but he is very adept at it.
All these kids like their power but they don't all use them positively. Crawler is a bit of a recluse but friendly, loves his ability just for the sheer joy of it; probably big into parkour. Carson tends to use his power just to blow things up for random damage...best way for him to vent. Beth rarely uses her power unless she must, isn't bothered by it as she just takes it in stride, but is painfully shy. Shades....well, he might like his ability too much and spends a lot of time anywhere on campus that there's a lot of women.
They're not all friends to each other but they are to my alternate. Naturally he's got their powers too but for awhile he thought they had to be around for him to use them. Wasn't till one day, as any hormonal young man would, that Shades wasn't around and there were girls he wished he could have that power and it just switched on...
...and the rest is history.
I had a variation that my alternate was contacted by Mohinder, which drags him into the events of all the other characters, by one of the random and seeking calls that Mohinder was making. Just another one of them that wasn't a hangup. The warning about Sylar came at a good time as he was actually in the area. He kills Crawler but doesn't get his ability, my alternate got enough info on Sylar from Mohinder to destroy the body with Carson's power right before Sylar got the chance to take what he wanted. |

Unless, of course, the strike ends or someone crosses the line. Although, personally I'm crossing my fingers that maybe Kring's writing is independent of the Writer's Guild.

| | CSI Miami | ] | ...and the bulk of the first two are from Season 1 anyway:
- At the end of Season One, in How to Stop an Exploding Man or whatever it was called, Nathan flies Peter high into the sky and there's a massive explosion. The general belief is that with the addition of Claire's ability that Peter could survive one of Ted's explosionsbut I kinda doubt that. In the first place, every time Ted radiated massively he expanded radiation in ever direction but remained relatively unscathed himself...just a tad drained. There's no evidence that Ted would ever actually have exploded insofar as his body blasting to pieces. If he did that, so would Peter. From seeing a very specific wound to the back of the head that both Claire and Peter have taken...if that part of the brain is damaged the healing power doesn't work. Likely this part of the brain is the one that gives all the emo·sapiens their abilities. So, if Peter had actually exploded, instead of massively radiating outward as I suspect Ted's power functions, then there wouldn't have been any of that part of the brain to operate the power in the first place.
- Okay, that last one I intended to be two different points, on two different bullet points, but I'm operating on very little sleep from the bout of insomnia I had last night...so I'm not gonna edit it. Anyway, I had three things I wanted to go on about so skip onto the next one.
- It is highly unlikely that all of the emo·sapiens are related to each other. While it does seem to be a trait passed on by genetics, too many fans are making the leap that the founders of The Company are the source of everyone else with abilities is silly. There's not enough of them for that and from what we've seen...they don't have enough ethnic diversity among them to account for everyone that has displayed powers in the series. Not to mention, as we've gotten bits from Matt's father and Lindermen, they didn't all start together either. Much like the current run of them, they came from all over and just found each other. It's the almost like they were drawn to each other that I think needs some further investigation. Maybe it has something to do with the origin of their abilities...maybe not. I still think the eclipses have something to do with it.
