Title: Super Rating: PG. Tops. Probably G. Characters/Pairings: Just Monica. Spoilers? Nothing beyond the premise of Monica's character. 101 words. So close! Monica had insisted, since she was tiny, that she wanted to do something special. Her first word for it was "super," but she soon moved on to things like, "different," and "dynamic," and "extraordinary." She left "super" behind, along with juice boxes and coloring books. Her dreams had grown beyond a cape and tights, beyond old Wonder Woman reruns on Saturday mornings. College, a career, a house in some big city somewhere (somewhere, anywhere, but here) with a picture window and a spiral staircase. She had it all figured out. Apparently, she thinks, she had it right when she was three. |

Fandom: Heroes Characters/Pairings: Alejandro Word Count: 100 Rating: FRA Authors note: I wrote this for the challenge 1st person's point of view for but never got around to posting it. I figured it could fit in with this weeks challenge #46: Identity I watch her as she sleeps. I always did, but now I can do it openly. Myth tells the origin of the moon. The one who follows the sun, lighting the ways threw darkness, silently protecting man from the demons of night. Mama told us about the monsters of the night, they could find you in your dreams. They watch you from behind your eyes. "First came Maya, then Alejandro," The sister came then the brother, following, watching cleaning up. Keeping everyone safe, because looks can be deceiving, monsters are real, and they are the ones in the white hats. |

Title: Trick Rating: G Word Count: 100 Written for Challenge #45: Halloween "It's not the same," Molly pouted, inspecting her fairy wings in the mirror. "Nope," said Candice cheerfully. "It's better. There's no straps and you won't whack me in the head." She was right. And they were sparkly. "Fine. So where do we go trick-or-treating?" Molly asked, then blinked as the barren Company hallway became a welcoming suburban street. There were even a few costumed children wandering around, though they looked suspiciously like Charlie Brown. "And what about candy?" she added, staring the older girl in the eye. Candice's fuzzy cat mask curved into a knowing grin. "I've got a stash." |

First off, if this post/plea for help/self-plug is undesirable, I apologize, and I won't be at all offended if the mods that be delete <3 Some of you might have seen me around lately - I've just recently got into the Heroes fandom (I'm a Supernatural transplant), and it's eating me up more and more every day. So while I hope to dive more and more into the show and the comms and fic, becoming more and more of a familiar face (recongizable by Petrellicest icons!), sometimes my grad school stuff keeps me busy, which brings me to my point: I'm working on a paper right now for my Cultural Studies class in which I'm hoping to give an introduction to fan fiction, particularly slash, explaining on a general level to outsider who we are and what it is we do and why it's important. I hope in the future to focus my actual dissertation or a project/book of some sorts on slash fandom, and I might enlist your aid for that later too ;) As a writer and a reader, I want to represent us to the best of my ability, and that means gathering together your voices. I've set up a general survey at my journal, gathering identity data about folks (which will be anonymous in the paper, of course) and then a more extended questionnaire regarding your thoughts on fandom in greater detail. I'd love it if you'd take a look at and answer either or both, and for those of you who complete the entire thing, I promise to satisfy drabble requests ;) So if you're interested in helping out, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks for your time! We are fandom, and we are legion, and we are taking over the world... |

Title: Epiphany Rating: G Word Count: 100 Written for Challenge #43: First Person POV I should have realized it before. The shared DNA, it's not a lock, just a link. It was easier for her to connect with you. No, you're right, I'm being obscure. These…powers are controlled by a specific genetic sequence. Two parents with the sequence always transmit the genes; one parent will, given time and good fortune; but it isn't guaranteed. It's not flawless; evolution never is. There was no way to know, not knowing your parents. But Jessica must have been able...she's not tied to you, Niki, not to any one— You're right, Doctor. Looks like I'm not. |
