The world is one huge throb, spinning and lurching wetly beneath him. It's embarrassing, now that he can think about it: escaping into the sewers like something from a villain's history text, all but twirling an imaginary mustache. He'd laugh, but he's pretty sure he'd pass out. They probably won't even think to look for a body. Amateurs.
He sees it in the corner of his eye, a grunting reptilian shadow with a lashing tail; caught off guard, he slips, splashes, fades to black. He doesn't see the woman the shadow becomes, alligator boots skidding as she drags him away.
