[ music | John Mayer - Stop This Train ]

SlowDancingInABurningRoom

"So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young
So I play the numbers game
To find a way to say that life has just begun

Had a talk with my old man
Said "help me understand"
He said "turn sixty-eight
You renegotiate"

'Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
And don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly we'll never stop this train'

Once in awhile, when it's good
It'll feel like it should
And they're all still around
And you're still safe and sound
And you don't miss a thing
Till you cry when you're driving away in the dark
Singing

Stop this train
I wanna get off
And go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can
Cause now I see I'll never stop this train"

hi all, these photo are close to 3 weeks old so fairly recent. They were done with in the parameters of my advertising 1 class. the assignment was to do two on location portraits with fill flash (balancing artificial and ambient light) One of the shoots had to be outdoors, the other... indoors. pretty self explanatory.

So my advertising photo class had a studio portrait assignment. we were to photograph 6 different non-photo major persons with each having a different type lighting... even though we were supposed to complete 6 I only did 4, the day before the assignment was due. Surprisingly I had more work to show than most of the class, lazy photo majors.

All in a days work

Senior session: MacKenzie [05 Sep 2008|03:56pm]

MacKenzie loves the water and waterfront, and so we spent some time with the bridges, walking along through Waterfront Park, and then explored some of the architecture around the old Skidmore district. It was a lot of fun to see the range of her personality-- from pensive artist to laughing out loud teen craziness. She's such a fabulous girl and we hope that her senior year wraps up well.

Nature Boy (and Girl) [07 Jul 2008|07:07pm]

- Nature Boy (and Girl) -</div>

S & J are having a little boy next month and so we took them out for their maternity shoot last weekend. Our maternity shoots are called Belly Stories and it's such an apt name because there's always a history to be told about how this baby is coming into the lives of two people, and how those lives will change, and so forth.

J & S are both very cool and down to earth, and the nature preserve in the heart of Portland seemed to suit them perfectly. So we wandered around-- yes, we do a lot of wandering on our shoots-- and played around a lot. I wanted to capture the beauty of S's growing belly but also the story of them, and I hope we accomplished that.

Oh, and stay tuned for the next installment of S & J in a few weeks; they're actually doing an Inside/Out package, so you'll get to see their new little one as well. I absolutely cannot wait to shoot that tiny little one in the arms of his daddy, tattoos and all!

Pretty as a princess [30 Jun 2008|07:38am]

We had planned to do Baby A's shoot a few weeks ago, as a "true" newborn session, but there were some complications and so we did her session at the ripe old age of six weeks. It was an exciting and slightly emotional session for me-- I've known their family of four boys for quite some time, and when Baby A's mom found out that they were expecting, we all kind of held our breath and hoped. But when she was born, the shock was real for everyone. It was just too good to be true! Photographing her in all of her sweetness made for a very happy me, and hopefully for her family too! And I'll get to be seeing a lot more of her too because she'll be a Milestones baby. I can't wait to see her grow.
