ficfinishing is an LJ comm devoted to helping authors finish stories.

(There's another comm coming later, ficstarting, to help authors *start* stories.)

The comm holds monthly fic finishing rounds. Each one is a short focused effort to complete a single partial story.

Sign ups for the September round are going on now through September 12th. At the moment we are only accepting sign ups for Numb3rs, Criminal Minds, Heroes, Blood Ties, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Bones, NCIS, Supernatural, Charmed, Blake's 7, Veronica Mars, Psych, Miracles, Buffy, Angel and Firefly though more fandoms will be added over time.

If you like what you see, join and watch the comm. Most of the comm's content is f-locked, so you'll only get the full benefit if you become a member.

Our past rounds have netted a slew of finished fic and our authors enjoyed thousands of new words thanks to the comm. So if you really want to finish your fic, we can help.

Only a few hours left until kickoff for the Superbowl, which is when the bets in the BtVS/AtS Superbowl Fic Betting Pool end. Head on over if you haven't already!

It's like a ficathon that's winner take all! Go over here to bet which team will win and what the winning score will be, as well as what character you'd like to have written for you. If you get the right score and winner, everyone else in the pool writes you a 200-500 word ficlet (or more) about your chosen character. That means you win a whole lineup of fic about your favorite character. If someone else wins, everyone writes the winner a ficlet. If no one bets right (which has happened the last two years), no one has to write anything. Fics will be due two weeks after the Superbowl, February 17.

Sign-ups are now open for ninebillion, a multi-fandom fic exchange focusing on the role and importance of faith (or lack thereof) in our favourite characters' lives. All faiths/religions/beliefs are welcome, both real and fictive, and being brave and ambitious in your work is positively encouraged. For those who don't feel able to commit to the schedule of a fic exchange but would still like to participate, a list of claimable prompts has also been put together to help get those braincells working.

BtVS/AtS participation has been slowing down and we'd love to see that turned around. You can make all of your Buffy/Angel requests here, including crossovers. We're accepting requests until January 7th at 11:59 PM EST.

A multifandom 'thon for all you meta lovers out there.

Here's what you get to choose to write:
1. DVD commentary for a fic you've written

or

2. An analysis of your canon. This can be whatever you've discovered across your entire body of work or a segment of it determined by you (pairing, date, fandom etc.) or as tkp so perfectly put it: "You can write ... an in depth analysis of control dynamics between your male and female characters throughout your entire body of work, or answer the question, Why Do I Always Write About Cheese? It's a chance to talk about yourself. Indulge yourself. It doesn't have to be difficult or mind-bending to be informative or illuminating to others."

Sign-up with your name and email address, mostly for email reminder purposes. You can write about any fandom, pairing, theme, character. I just want to read meta about your body of work.

I thought that Buffy deserved a little more love from the fandom, so I decided to organise a small ficathon:

The "Buffy Is the Hero, Damnit" ficathon

This ficathon is about Buffy, Buffy and more Buffy. It's not about who Buffy's sleeping with. It's about Buffy. The girl, the slayer, the woman, the hero. So while pairings of all kind are allowed, the focus is on the gen side of things.

Deadlines:
- Sign-ups end: September 9th
- Assignments sent: before September 16th
- Final deadline: November 11th
