Author's Notes: A response to prompt 2 - Arthurian Times/Legend in the Hearts in Time Summer Adventure Ficathon.  I'm starting to post early as this is turning out to be LONG!  I will try to get as much posted by the deadline, but hopefully you won't be TOO cross if it goes on a bit longer.

All quotes at the beginning of the chapters are from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Summary: After World War III, the Doctor tries to make things - like refusing to do domestic with a mother who's not seen her daughter for twelve months - up to Rose. Predictably, things do not go according to plan. Unpredictably, the pair end up in a totally new kind of adventure. Not all quests are transparent and not all tests have simple answers.

A/N: I did a meme a while back wherein you hit play on your iPod and write little short fics--little more than drabbles--based on whatever songs come up, for exactly as long as each one lasts. This one started with the Kane song "The House Rules," then told me it wanted to grow. At first I put it away when I realized it was yet another take on the old Rose-has-fun-on-the-dance-floor-while-Nine-is-jealous trope, but then I re-read the finished product tonight and was surprised it didn't suck as badly as I'd remembered. :P Hope someone else agrees. Cross-posted a bit. And no beta, btw. Posting impetuously, me.

PS: I'm mostly known for my X-Files or Buffy fic, but this is my first real DW ficlet.

OKAY YOU GUYS. I swear this is a very, very important question to be discussed. Really, truly.



WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE SWEATER/JUMPER COLOR? Okay, not technically a Nine/Rose subject, but essential nonetheless. I am a member of Team!Dark Green, although anytime the leather jacket is shed (see: Father's Day) I am happy.

So are you a fan of the maroon? The black? A fellow dark-greener? SPEAK OUT.
