Chick Flick Moments (Closed to Winchesters)
Dean had been hanging out in the hotel all day, doing a little reading up. Reviewing things he knew he had to teach Ben. He had to know them like breathing before he could teach them. And it had been going well.

Until he spaced out and ended up thinking about his family instead.

He didn't even notice when his eyes teared up.

((Post primarily so Dean can shmoop at his son, but other Winchesters (and Singers!) are invited if they're so inclined.))

Ben thought there was something weird going on. Lots of people (guys) had been running around at the flower shop and other stores in town, acting weird. Kind of like the last guy his mom dated, right around Valentine's Day and her birthday.

He wondered if it was Valentine's Day here in the village. He figured it had to be something like that. If it was a curse or a demon, his dad would have told him to stay inside that morning.

Still, it was kind of freaky, so he headed back to the hotel to tell his dad about it. It got freakier when he saw his dad looking like he was about to cry.

"Dad?"

	"No, that's in February." Of course, then he started thinking about Valentine's day and wondered if he'd ever really celebrated the holiday. 	Maybe off somewhere, being emotional? Dean had no idea. Dean looked at Ben with big watery eyes. "Okay. But no matter what, just remember that I love you." He probably hadn't said that to anyone since...ever. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	John had woken up with an almost insane desire to see his family. To make sure that they were all right. He hadn't given in to it since it wasn't the 'gut feeling' that he usually got when they were in trouble. This had a different feel to it. His resolve lasted until the late afternoon and he mentally said fuck it and went over to his boy's room, knocking on their door. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Dean had since realized that he was crying, and wiped his eyes dry(ish) before getting the door. It wouldn't do for anyone to see him crying. His eyes went wide when he saw his father standing outside. "Dad!" Followed by a spontaneous hug. It was a reaction Dean hadn't had in a very, very long time. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	It only took John a half of a second to return the hug. The stoic Marine wrapped his arms around him as he had when Mary was alive. Tight. "Dean." There might have been a little tremor in his voice but he covered it up with a soft cough. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

John noticed the shift of expression immediately and quickly soothed it. "I'm sorry." Which was an extreme first for John and in the back of his mind he understood that something wasn't quite right. "No, you're right I did come over here for a reason. I wanted to be with my sons." He gave Dean a little smile. "And my grandson. There is nothing more important than family."

	Dean had the same feeling, way back somewhere he didn't even notice, that something wasn't right. He smiled again and stepped back to let his father into the room. "Right. Sammy and Ben aren't around right now but they'll be back eventually." Which was a not so subtle invitation for John to stay until they did come back. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	John stepped inside smiling his thanks and made his way to the sofa to sit and enjoy his time with Dean before the others arrived. "What have you been doing with yourself? Keeping busy?" He knew that he'd been teaching Ben the 'Winchester' way, but he hoped they'd also had fun. Life was too short not to have fun in it. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	Dean's smile couldn't have been brighter. That was by far his favourite thing to hear from his father. Everything he'd ever done was trying to make his father proud. A little validation once in a while was nice. "Thanks, Dad." (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)
