You're Gonna Make It After All! [06 Sep 2008|06:49pm]

Another thing I've been really into latley is The Mary Tyler Moore show! I've watch like 16 episodes in the past few weeks. It's so good and her clothes are really adorable too, stuff I'd def wear!

(not this pantsuit obviously, but all her dresses pretty much!)

How could you not love Mary and Rhoda?

It's sort of odd how you can always be fond of something and then suddenly you're love for it sort of falls into place...

I've always loved the idea of Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffanys, and old movies. I watched Breakfast at Tiffanys a while back and found it kind of tedious, really liked it the second time around, and really loved it the third time around. I've owned the movie, along with Roman Holiday and Sabrina, which I haden't seen until the past couple of days.

In the past couple of days I've watched all three and just want to watch more! I always knew she was lovely and sophisticated and adorable and iconic, but I don't think it was until today that I really fell in love with her movies. I also have Funny Face, which had always been my favorite, but now I'm not so sure anymore!

I've also been listening to the 3 versions of "Moon River" I have over and over and over again.

I need to get my hands on other movies I haven't seen! I haven't even seen My Fair Lady!

oh yeah and some thoughts about her main men...
Funny Face, Fred Astaire-charming <--my favorite guy
Breakfast At Tiffanys, George Peppard-dreamy
Roman Holiday, Gregory Peck-handsome creepster
Sabrina, William Holden-overly suave
Sabrina, Humphrey Bogart-boring and wrong for the movie. yeah I said it.

..Just don't make me choose between Audrey and Anna Karina.

Kill me... [02 Sep 2008|11:57am]

katie_g_lynn
Ugh.

Thanks to my car I am now out 500 dollars that I do not have.

My paycheck can't come soon enough.

Sadly, I only work for one hour four hours today.

Better than nothing.

Goodbye.

Gah. Stress.

The GRE costs so much money to take. Also, it's hard. Also, it costs so much money! Assholes.
I'll take the basic on October or November along with the subject test. Gasp. That along with school along with trying to put together grad school apps is going to be a bitch.
A part of me just wants to get a job and put grad school off. But I want to keep my options open, so I will not sack this option just yet.

My brakes are being bitches, so I have to take my car in tomorrow. Hopefully it will not cost too much money, and hopefully there is nothing else wrong with it.

I also need to call into work tomorrow to find out if I even need to go in. At this point, I have a total of three students, and they each come in only once a week. I am transitioning from Summer to Fall scheduling, and thus, I must wait to get more students. SAT students will be here for me this week or next week. This will be both fun and challenging. It's also going to improve my test taking strategies and vocabulary just in time for the GRE. It's like getting paid to study. A plus, indeed.

In other news, I am still desperately trying to find time to go camping. I love Super Mario Galaxy. And I just spilled tea on myself while I was taking a break to drink it in the middle of this post. I'm also going to the beach next weekend.

This weekend I will wish Jimmy a happy birthday-IN PERSON.

Also, I smiled and waved like a little schoolgirl when I saw Noe in the foreign languages department last Thursday. The horrible summer Spanish classes have seriously made me miss the discomfort that was Spanish 1.

Now I am going to finish my tea and watch Project Runway.

Then I will sleep.

I made cookies.

Shortbread.
Honey Oatmeal.
Honey Oatmeal w/chocolate chips.

I like them.

The end.

I had the weirdest dream about a guy at a work party trying to manhandle me in the bathroom.

What a creepy bitch.

---

Spanish is done, and now I need to focus on the GRE.

I am so worn out on studying, though.

Blah.

I will come out of this weekend happy and refreshed.

Then the intensity will begin.

---

The Olympics have gotten me really into competitive sports.

Just in time for football season.

---

My parents make cheesy jokes.

Dad: "Wyoming? Why not -oming?"

"I need to get my hair cut."

Mom: "Which one?"

The mother of a student of mine is having brain surgery in order to have a tumor removed. When she told me she was like "Yea I have surgery this Tuesday so I'm not sure if I'll be up to bringing my son in on Thursday or not. We'll see. It's just a little brain tumor, not cancer or anything, so I'll let you know if we're coming in on Thursday or not."

Gasp. I was so caught off guard. How can someone talk about their brain tumor so nonchalantly?

She is an intense woman.

I'm training to teach SAT students which is frustrating because I have to learn so much new vocabulary, but I am excited for a higher pay rate.

I seriously just cannot wait for this week to be over. Spanish 3 needs to end NOW. I have the final interview tomorrow and then the written on Friday. I could not be more excited for the end. I am going to be the most decadent celebratory bitch in the world this weekend.

Which reminds me, I love cookies, candy, ice cream, frozen yogurt, popsicles, and now berry lemonade Jones soda.

But I do not want to be a fat person with diabetes. Plus too much sugar makes my stomach hurt. But If I could take it, I would eat so much of it every day.

Instead I look at pictures.

But I will make some cookies later.

Anyways, I am going to read and go to bed. Stupid Spanish final tomorrow. Lame lame lame. Muy mal. I am going to do a dance when it ends. I kid you not.

Bye.

I tried to make french toast this morning.
It was pretty disasterous.
You'd think it would'nt be that difficult. haha
What a trooper my roommate Bethany is, she actually ate some.

I'm all settled in and start my UT Austin classes Wednesday.

I only have internet sparatically, so if you want to get together or just have a chat, give me a call!

I am sooo behind on my blogs! ugh.

One more week of Spanish.

Now I need to get these finals out of the way, so I can have a nice month off from school to relax. Relax some, at least. I will also need to use this time to study for the GRE.

I am hoping to go camping this Friday. This also means that I am hoping whatever strange sickness (stress, heat, cancer, whatever...) that ails me lately is not going to stand in the way of my going camping. I would really like a nice long weekend of lounging out in the open air. I need better clothes for it, though. Some shorts would be nice.

Professor Raheja already sent out a book list for fall quarter. I ordered mine yesterday. She is so organized. I love it. Now I just need to get books for two more English classes and hopefully will not have to get some brand new expensive as hell book for Spanish 4 because I can't afford that right now. I will try to find out which book we need (if we need a new book) ASAP so I can order a cheap one online.

But, in other slightly relevant news, I am currently reading like three different books and am enjoying all of them.

I am so in love with my bookshelf right now.
