I'm back at work today and I can honestly say that I Do Not Want To Go. I can't believe that the past fortnight has passed so quickly and I reckon that by lunchtime I'll already be feeling like I've never been away. Getting up this morning was... hard.

Still, every time I look out of my kitchen window I see my little green car, which makes me happy. The journey home was very pleasant and passed without incident and just to sweeten the deal even further, when we got back no-one was parked in front of our house (as they are wont to do) so I got my space. For now... !

School starts tomorrow. Joy.

Yay, only three more! Then I can, uh, go back to my DVD marathons. Well, that requires spending more money on Amazon, I suppose. Hm. I fail epic at saving up. And yeah, this comes after my parents have stopped my allowance and any other frivolous spending because I need to learn the value of the pound ($1.8, by the way. THIS RECESSION SUCKS), and I know somewhat about the credit crunch and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac on account of how I had to proofread my sister's economics essay about it ... This recessions sucks.

Did I mention how the second Sisterhood is also based on a book four? I haven't read that yet, eurgh. I think this should be my film-first, book-second film, but I don't know so much. :-/

I guess I've kind of come to a conclusion about me and my dad that I was trying not to let myself see before, but I'm running out of ways to hide it from myself now.

So long, Marjorie Antrobus. One of Ambridge's favourite residents passed away peacefully in her sleep earlier this week. Margot Boyd, the actress who played Marjorie, died back in May but Mrs A has lived on until now, albeit as a silent character. It's all very sad and I am expecting the villagers to at least erect a statue of one of her beloved Afghan Hounds on the village green.

I have had my second and final refresher lesson today and, happily, all went well. This time, instead of sticking to the side roads we drove to Heaton Chapel, which is where I am picking the car up from on Sunday, and back again, with a bit of parallel parking practice thrown in for good measure. We even drove past my friend's house and saw my car sitting on her drive; it's dark green. Most helpfully of all my instructor showed me a route home from my friend's house that is very direct and means I don't have to negotiate Levenshulme. I've really enjoyed the two refresher lessons so as long as our trip back home on Sunday goes relatively smoothly, I think all will be well. It had better be, because I'm already planning a few trips out.

Today, I have been driving - for the first time in 12 years! I got my license when I was 17 and had a car of my own for a while but when the time came to replace it I was a bit short of money so put it off, and the years since have simply slipped by with us relying on public transport to get where we needed to go. But now the time has come when we really are in need of a car. If nothing else, transporting cats around on the bus isn't much fun (for us or them) but there are lots of other things that we need to get sorted out with the house and so on where we really need our own transport. Plus, and this may be environmentally selfish, but there are places I want to go and visit (and photograph!) that are way off the public transport track. So we are getting a car on Sunday, courtesy of a friend who is moving house - hence my sudden need for a couple of refresher lessons. I was incredibly nervous this morning but as soon as I'd been driving for a little while it started to feel really natural again and I'm now looking forward to tomorrow's session. I'm not sure I'm looking forward to driving home on my own on Sunday night though... !

The Parental Unit have come and gone. We had a nice visit - they petted the cats to within an inch of their lives, they fussed about this, that and the other and my Father had to gently explain to my Mother what goes on in P's Sauna and Massage Parlour ("But why is it open from 6pm to 6am? Surely they would get more business if was open from 6am to 6pm..."). And if you are wondering why we were talking about the massage parlour in the first place, it's because we happened to be sitting by a window in the pub which overlooked the entrance! They are coming back in September but just for a day as my cousin and her nine year old son are also coming and we are all going to the Manchester Museum to see the dinosaurs, mummies and Lindow Man. I'm sure it will be an interesting trip. Last time we took my parents there we had to lead my Mother away from the very-well-endowed fertility dolls as she had been staring for waaay too long.

While my parents have been here we have watched a lot of the Olympics and it seems that I am a jinx. I watched the men's 10m synchronised diving, where we came last; the tennis match where Andy Murray lost; the women's synchro diving (last again); a swimming relay where we failed to qualify for the finals and, most touchingly, I saw someone that I went to school with go out in her first round badminton match! We did, however, win the cricket while we were listening to the radio commentary (hurrah!) For the sake of the nation and our sporting glory though, perhaps I had better stick to UK Gold for the rest of the Olympics...

now it's time for picspam 2. yes, there are 2 lol. this is the "modelling" picspam lol. I've decided that I should make use of being within driving distance of a city where movies are filmed and also being near a city that takes everyday looking people for acting in commercials, so I needed a nice headshot and a full body pic or two. So I made nicole_nut take them lol. So far I've put them up on crummy little free accounts on two casting websites, and I just got my first casting notice, for Beverley Hills Cop 4 to be an extra, so as soon as I can get the money for the account where I can actually contact the agents lol, I'm going to reply for that one and maybe I'll get picked! They're actually looking for people from my hometown city, which is strange since my city sucks lol.
