clicks on a saved link and it is a dead link.

Just a heads up to people on the list. First, there was AOL shutting
down its member sites. Now Tripod is doing the same. TechCrunch is
reporting that

"Troubled Internet company Lycos is shutting down its email
service and website creation and hosting service Tripod, the company
is saying via emails to users that begin with "We regret to inform you
that our parent company has decided to discontinue all unprofitable
activities." Both services will be discontinued as of February 15

If you have a site there, let me know by leaving a comment on
http://blog.fanhistory.com/?p=277 and I can help you find a free
hosting solution or make suggestions on some paid hosts (slicehost,
siceground, dreamhost are all pretty good) that might work. If you
know other fandom people who have sites hosted on Tripod, let them
know. A lot of fandom activity took place over on Tripod during the
late 1990s, early 2000s and it would be sad to lose that much of our
fandom's history. :(
