Be afraid, be very afraid.
I plan to be very obnoxious in this costume (at AX).

Mitch and I finished watching Gurren Lagann, and frankly, I loved it more than any series I've watched for a long while! I'm pretty much done with Mitch's Kamina costume (but I haven't taken a picture of it yet...) And Leeron is love, love enough to make me sew a horrid purple bodysuit. (forgive me) lol.
<3 chuuu!
I hope I can get pictures with Char's Yoko at some point!

Played around with Fosshape today... I think it worked really well! This is my Vampire Hunter D hat. I'm going to paint it black later, obviously. It has a nice felted-hat texture.

Ho ho... I guess this will be the last ghetto-bathroom photo from this particular bathroom you'll get from me, since we're moving...! End of an era. DUN DUN DUN. :)

The arm bit is the beginnings of well.. my arm stuff for D.

Le Chevalier D'eon Shoot with [info]mognetcentral
[info]mognetcentral just posted our shoot with her in our Chevalier costumes!

Check out the awesome photos here!

Here's a quick preview pic courtesy of Terrence Taylor, who caught us while we were waiting for [info]mognetcentral to cross the street (that sounds like the set up for a bad joke).

We did a shoot with [info]mognetcentral that, from the previews she's leaked to us, look pretty awesome. So expect more pic spam of us soon! The next time we wear these we hope to be joined by [info]tristencitrine as Madame Pompadour!

Does this dress make my hips look big? )

You know those moments that you think, "oh, I'll just do xyz... it will be fast and easy, no big deal!"

*headdesk*

So, I decided to alter the Chevalier dress to make it slightly more historically accurate so I could wear it to historical events. Maybe not such a good idea to quilt the petticoat two days before the con, eh?

Current status:

Looks done, eh? LIES. The only thing holding it together, and on the mannequin, is pins. But instead of actually assembling it, I decided to spend three hours quilting. *sigh*

(thanks for the tips, Char!)
... and that does it for me! No more Chevalier pics till after Fanime!
(in fact, no more costume stuff till after then anyway!)

I woke up at 6:30 am this morning worried that I'd messed up the RTV mold. lol. (cause I ran out of the blue stuff, so I wasn't sure if I used enough...) Turned out fine though.

This piece took forever to sculpt and paint. *___* It's still not perfect, but perhaps the imperfections add to the organic quality? I hope?

You can't really tell but the white areas are pearlized a bit. OO SHINEY.

I was smarter this time though when pouring the resin than the last time I tried to do a resin piece of this size. This time, I pressed half a plastic christmas ornament in the back to fake having a back mold. It was hard to get the ornament out in the end, but it worked and reduced the weight and resin usage a lot.

It's a "charm" so to speak for VHD's hat. Based on this image

finished up Lia's sword

.... I'm going to go take a nap now. lol.

Very very not-exciting but I thought I'd post to prove that the rest of us won't be naked come Fanime. It's not that exciting of a costume anyways.

I actually changed characters and am doing Maximilien instead of d'Eon. Maximilien was a lot more interesting and now I get to take romantic incestuous photos with Aimee. =D

The lime green is not liner, it's the material I used for flat-lining cause I have a retarded amount of lime green fabric and I dunno what else I can use it for. =P

Oh and I made a Finding Nemo project bag! Isn't it cute?

did the sculpt for my VHD skull belt buckle today and (hopefully) made the RTV mold for it. I'll show you tomorrow if I didn't mess it up. lol.

Lia Sword:
Still have to paint the hilt and do distressing on the blade. Looks ok I guess.
AJ found the base sword. :D

With my Chevalier Lia costume,... The dress is pretty much done. I just need to add a few snaps and hooks here and there to ease wearing and do some ironing on it.

Here's today's work on the wig.
Still needs some sausage curling and some bangs styling, but it's really getting there!
One of the important things to me was getting a good pouf-height on her ponytail.

Please ignore my tired face, cause I'm, well, really tired.

We always joked about taking a timelapse of how disastrous our living room would get during a project so last time, I set up a camera and we actually took photos. It's not as impressive as some of the previous messes we've made (ohmigod Five Star Stories), but it was fun to make a quick video.

Youta's helping.

I did make a test clay original (translation: sacrificial lamb) though for my VHD left hand and coated it. Tomorrow I'll do a test run with the ultracal-30. Too tired tonight to deal with measuring.
