About:

Welcome to the Hattiesburg Russian Martial Art Study Group. We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00PM. Anyone interested in training may email at rhavinbane@yahoo.com for directions. Our group has no room for people with ego problems, attitudes, or malicious intentions. Only those who can approach with an open mind and a desire to learn are welcome. A little bit of information about what we do is listed below.

What is Systema:
System or ROSS is the Russian Native Method of Self Defense. Systema is unrestricted, except for the laws of nature. It is not a system of fighting, but rather a system of living. It helps you explore the movements natural to your body and helps restore the lubrication of joints and elasticity that we, as humans, have during childhood but lose later on in life. We learn how to become more adaptive to our surroundings and to be more in tune with the essence of life around us. It is only through this that we become more more efficient in combat or whatever walk of life we choose.

What is Zdorovye:
Zdorovye is the result of the culmination of centuries of Slavic health wisdom, and decades of research in the former Soviet Union. Zdorovye is a system of creating physical, mental, and spiritual fortitude and synergy. Through Somatic Engineering Zdorovye re-integrates our movement, posture, and breathing through a comprehensive form of exercise.

What is Sambo:
Sambo is a style of jacket wrestling developed at the turn of the twentieth century as a combat sport for the former Soviet Union. It was also used by Soviet troops for unarmed combat. The term Sambo is an acronym for SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya" or Self Defense Without Weapons.
