This is an LJ community that calls for a free, independent, sovereign, and self-determinate Hawaii. Hawaii, even though it has been occupied as a subordinate entity by the United States of America since 1893, is STILL a legally independent nation, and it is about time that America and the world recognize this fact once and for all.

We call for:

1) The unconditional return of sovereignty, independence, and the control of such to the Hawaiian people by the United States of America.

2) The immediate setting up of a body of provisional government that will govern Hawaii until such time comes for a archipelago-wide election, which will determine such matters as 1) whether Hawaii is to be a republic, monarchy, or some other form of government, 2) whether people of pure Hawaiian ancestry or all Hawaiians, regardless of ancestry, are to maintain sole control of government, and 3) how to divide governing power among the islands and municipal entities.

3) The recognition by the United States of America and all similarly independent nations of the world of the sovereignty and nationhood of the Hawaiian nation.

4) The turning over of Midway and other directly-controlled islands of the Hawaiian archipelago to the Hawaiian sovereignty.

5) The participation of Hawaii in political matters directly concerning the Pacific Rim, considering that Hawaii is the crossroads of almost ALL trade and transportation between East Asia and North America, and also Polynesian affairs, since Hawaii is traditionally, linguistically, and culturally a Polynesian nation.

We invite all to join and post, but we demand all to repect each other in posting, commenting, and replying. We also prefer Hawaiian and/or English to other languages, but you can post in your own tongue as well.
