  <title>The Wulfenbach Curse</title>

  <description>So, this &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20080611&quot;&gt;last page&lt;/a&gt; illustrates perfectly one reason Wulfenbachs have the trouble they do. &lt;a name=&quot;cutid1&quot;&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gil has the same problem as his father. Both desperately want to be taken seriously -- need to be taken seriously -- but nobody listens to them until they get really, &lt;i&gt;really&lt;/i&gt; scary.  Klaus has already found a way around this: get scary first, then you can skip all that annoying negotiating stuff, which never works anyway. I am willing to bet a bazillion internet dollars that this was an issue with Klaus even during his time with Bill and Barry (and a possible source of a rift between them? which is why Barry was willing to believe Klaus did Something Bad? hmm...).  Bill and Barry probably never had to get scary in order to get something done. They were the great Heterodyne Boys! People just listened to them. Meanwhile, Klaus did a lot of dangerous stuff and never really got to be the &quot;hero&quot;. It doesn&apos;t help that Klaus also doesn&apos;t seem to care about being perceived as the hero. Putting up a statue in his honor would probably just embarrass him. Plus, you just know some kids would come along and put underwear on the statue&apos;s head and wouldn&apos;t that just be the icing on the cake?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So we now have Gil, who has inherited his father&apos;s curse of never being taken seriously. He grew up this way. So he does what he&apos;s learned from his father -- get scary. Gil &lt;i&gt;could&lt;/i&gt; be easy-going about this. He could laugh it off instead of being angry and embarrassed. He could stop worrying so much about not being taken seriously and just do the job. But he won&apos;t, because that&apos;s the exact opposite of what he wants right now. Not only is everyone around him &lt;i&gt;not&lt;/i&gt; listening to him, they&apos;re telling &lt;i&gt;him&lt;/i&gt; what to do. Even his own father isn&apos;t taking him seriously!  The first time he allows Gil to handle a crisis and what does he do? He assumes Gil isn&apos;t mature enough to handle it and goes stomping around in a giant mech. Poor Gil.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But I think Krosp&apos;s &quot;helpful&quot; analysis is right. He does need the hat. Just look at the innocently eager expressions on those Jäger faces! hehehe&lt;br /&gt;</description>

Klaus is not popular, despite ruling so much of Europe, but he must have some allies somewhere? He&apos;s old friends with Dr. Sun, who is Chinese. This got me wondering. Perhaps one of the Wulfenbach Empire&apos;s allies is China(along with, perhaps, other asian countries)? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sure Klaus is unpopular in the public eye, but even Hitler had some allies.</description>

  <description>I really thought the current storyline was going to end up with the Baron siding with Agatha before Gil did. Did anyone else think this? The fact that he isn&apos;t is making me a little more worried for him. And I still don&apos;t trust DuPree. (I know I&apos;m outvoted on that last one, but as everyone in Star Wars says... I have a bad feeling about this.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Something else I&apos;ve realized... Gil says he doesn&apos;t know Agatha very well, but in spite of the short amount of time they spent together, he actually knows her better than anyone. Only Zeetha knows her as well or better. And like Zeetha, his instincts about Agatha are right.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Case in point:&lt;br /&gt;* Gil knew Agatha would respond to being given her own space to work on her own projects. Okay, this is an easy one, but I think he should get credit for thinking about her needs.&lt;br /&gt;* He was with her when she broke through.&lt;br /&gt;* He was with her in a very stressful situation (the hive engine incident). These are the kinds of things that always tell you a persons true character. Not only did they work great as a team, they triumphed together.&lt;br /&gt;* He knew Agatha well enough to know that she wouldn&apos;t have betrayed the circus folk. So they gave him version 2 of her death.&lt;br /&gt;* He&apos;s not buying the whole &quot;Agatha is evil&quot; thing (even though it&apos;s partly true in that she&apos;s possessed). He may be biased, but he&apos;s not stupid about it.</description>

  <description>Heya!  I&apos;m um, new here.  Not to Girl Genius, but to this community...and LiveJournal itself actually.  Anyway, I hope this is allowed, I didn&apos;t see anything that said it wasn&apos;t...in any case, I come bearing icons of Baron Wulfenbach.  I also have a bunch of Gil...but seeing as this isn&apos;t a fan club for him I&apos;ll leave those out unless they are requested.   <description>Something occurred to me. If the Baron was Zeetha&apos;s father (might be a longshot, but kinda hoping)...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Klaus wakes up. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Skifander royal person tries to introduce herself, past the language barrier. Wants to know what to call Klaus. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Klaus, realizing he&apos;s been duped by Lucrezia and dumped in Skifander, is all red-faced and annoyed with himself. &quot;Chump.&quot; The name sticks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So now Zeetha goes around introducing herself as &quot;daughter of Chump&quot;, hoping someone&apos;ll know who Chump is. LOL &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(Okay, so that&apos;s not how it happened, but... hee. I am so easily amused.)</description>

  <description>I think this might be appreciated a little more here (and over in Narbon-land, if anyone cares to repost) than elsewhere.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Said by Kurotsuchi Mayuri-taicho in &lt;i&gt;Bleach&lt;/i&gt; chapter 306, &apos;Not Perfect is GOoD&apos;, and translated by the Ju-Ni fanlation group (my punctuation and emphases due to the style of the translation): &lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&apos;The Perfect Life&apos;, hm?  There is no perfection in this world.  It&apos;s a clich&amp;eacute; expression, but it&apos;s the truth.
